Welcome to Ratropolis! We’re pleased that you’ve joined our roleplaying community but, like any other website that allows interaction between members; we have rules that you need to abide by to keep the setting safe and friendly for our members. Anybody that is found not to be following the rules will be submitted to the warning system, so I’d suggest following them. 1. All topics and discussion must be kept at PG-13 (Teen) at the maximum limit. If you wish to roleplay or discuss anything exceeding this limit, please take it to the private messaging system or, preferably if possible, use an instant messaging system. If we find anything that we feels exceeds the recommended rating, we will delete the topic or message and the offender will be given a minor warning.
2. In accordance with the first rule, we ask that you do not swear or use offensive language on the board. Swearing is not necessary and it is neither big nor clever. Offensive comments that may be racist, sexist, homophobic or so forth are not allowed either and the offender will be submitted to the warning system. However, some characters may be the type of person that swears. In this case, mild swearing is permitted as long as it is rarely used and is used only in character. It is much easier to say something such as “He swore” rather than actually giving the word. Do not abuse this power to post strings of swear words and then claiming that you are in character, as this will not be allowed. Your post will be deleted and the warning system will ensue.
3. Do not flood, spam or double post. Regardless of whether or not somebody has not replied to your thread within the last week (or however long the period of time you’ve been waiting is), do not then ask if somebody will reply. We will set up a forum so that you can arrange a roleplay with somebody rather than actually asking in the roleplay itself. Spamming is, of course, not acceptable and your posts will be deleted and you will be submitted to the warning system. There is an “edit” button that will allow you to edit your posts and there will therefore be no need for double posting. However, we will allow a double post for a new member for one time only, and then we will use to the warning system.
4. If, for whatever reason, you have a problem with another member of the forum, please do not ‘attack’ them in any topics and please do not abuse the private message system to attack them. If you need to sort something out with them, can you please do it in a civil manner and, if not, take it off the forum so that the rest of us aren’t involved? If you have been repeatedly harassed by a member of the forum that has a problem with you (whether or not it is your fault) or if they just seem to be doing it for ‘fun’, you have the right to contact the staff and then we will deal with the problem if you can’t resolve yourself. Don’t let yourself get chased away from somewhere where you’re having a good time due to an immature member of the forum. We’ll use the warning system on them.
5. The administration team (also known as the staff), including the moderators and the global moderators, are the authority of the forum. If they have a rule and you’ve broken it, they have every right to subject you to the warning system. Despite the fact that these rules do sound rather harsh, we are generally easy going and we don’t like having to enforce rules, so if you have done something and you’ve been warned, it’s for a reason. Do not grovel, beg or plead with the administration team if you have been warned as you wouldn’t be in that position if you had follow the rules and it’s just plain annoying as well.
