The scene begins in a very poorly-lit room. A man can be seen in the darkness. Suddenly, the lights turn on an Wake Walker can be seen. The man begins to speak but as he is doing so, the lights flicker.
Wake Walker: Hello. I am...Wake Walker. I am the newest addition to this organization. I'm not exactly the most emotionally stable person in the world. It's very easy to make me mad, but on the other hand it is very easy to get along with me. For years I have fallen under the spell that is drugs. The drug is LSD in particular. Recently, I have managed to stop but it seems as though the drug calls me over at all times. Not only that, but I have also spent one year and a half in an insane asylum. Luckily, I recovered and came out just fine... … … almost.
Wake Walker stands up extends his arms outwards.
Wake Walker: And now I’m here. I’ve always had a thing for wrestling, and I think it’s about time that I showcase my abilities in the ring. That’s it for my introduction to the fans. Now, a message to the current wrestlers of Allstar wrestling, the last thing you want to do is UNDERESTIMATE ME. Even if I do give a warning beforehand, I know the message won’t be heeded by all the other wrestlers. No matter though, when I shock all of you, don’t say it was unexpected.
Wake Walker smiles and the titantron slowly blackens.
SAMPLE ROLEPLAY #2 (FROM ANOTHER FED):
BETRAYAL 2008
TWO DIFFERENT PERSONALITIES
BACKSTAGE PROMO + ON-STAGE PROMO
Wake Walker vs. The Rebel Bad Ass
Steel Cage Match
The scene begins outside of a building. The scene blacks out and it appears as though it is now inside the building.
Wake Walker: As you can see, we are inside of an asylum. This is where I spent one year and a half of my life. At some point in my life, I was overpowered by the enormous amounts of stress that were placed against me daily. I lost my mind, and before you knew it I was wandering the streets. When I was caught doing something I wasn’t supposed to be doing, I was taken into custody by the authorities. It was painfully obvious that I wasn’t sane, so I was taken to this very asylum. This is where… I spent two years of my life.
Being opportunistic does not mean you’re a coward
It only means that you’re the smarter man.
If being smart is looked down on,
Then I don’t know what kind of society we live in.
All the amorism for the risk takers
And the reckless…
Needs to end.
Wake Walker: Two years…. They tossed me in here, and expected me to recover on my own. Luckily, I did – for the most part. While I “recovered” though, I was confided to a small room, one which after a while I would consider home. During this time, I learned one major lesson that will aid me in my fight against The Rebel Bad ass at Betrayal. I learned how to make any sort of environment my habitat whether it is moist, smelly, big or small. The Rebel Bad Ass is getting himself into something he’ll regret he got into later, and that is in a cage with ME. I know what being in a cage match is like and I can confidently say that my old “home” is the same as that cage. At first, you are intimidated…not by your opponent but by the cage. Something you need to learn is that you need to be in control. You should not worry about the cage, you should worry about your opponent, but unfortunately most competitors who face each other in a steel cage match do just the opposite. As time passes by, you learn to make the cage a part of you. You don’t need to see the cage as something that can hurt you, although it can, but you need to see it as something that will aid you and will lead you to victory. You need to see the cage as your friend. Once you have done that, then you’ve taken the first step into fighting your picture perfect cage match. I have already done this step, thus I am already more prepared than The Rebel Bad Ass. The second thing that needs to be acknowledged is the fact that being a coward IS an option. Most wrestlers have several opportunities throughout their matches to leave the cage, but because they’re such macho-men, or so they think they are, they refuse to escape the cage and they try to end the match by pin fall. This blindness is the downfall to any wrestler. If I am given the chance to escape the cage when I face The Rebel Bad Ass, I will certainly escape the cage even if it means being seen as a “joke”. I think that this only shows that you’re the smarter athlete. The cage is your friend, but your opponent sure as hell isn’t.
Power is not what people think it is.
Power is generally seen as strength
I see it as a balance of two factors:
Insanity and strength.
Having an excess of power can only be positive.
Having too much insanity is bad.
Not knowing how to be insane is bad.
Thus, we need what I like to call, “Controlled Insanity”
Wake Walker: During the match, one can feel that their opponent is just as tense as they are and so one tries to be someone they are not. By this, I mean that some athletes think that if they act like animals in the cage, they will win. Being ruthless is something an ideal wrestler should have, but with coordination. The Rebel Bad Ass isn’t the kind who does this. The Rebel Bad Ass is somebody who doesn’t even think twice about the actions that they take. The Rebel Bad Ass has a problem. He has the trash needed to talk, he has the power to back it up but he doesn’t have the correct amount of insanity to execute those two gifts. I, on the other hand, do. I am balanced. I have the power, I can definitely hold my own in an argument and most important for this case though, I have something I like to call controlled insanity. Insanity is something that if used too much can result in overlooking things. If used to little, it can result in you doing nothing of significance at all. If you have just the right amount, you have the world at the tip of your fingers. My insanity will not block my doors, it will open them. My controlled insanity will allow me to hurt The Rebel Bad Ass slowly and easy. I won’t be afraid to use the cage...my insanity has taken care of that.
Fear is something used against the weak.
Once one has stricken fear into the heart of his opponent…
He is home free as he has his opponent in their weakest position.
I can’t fear anything.
Because I’ve seen it all.
Wake Walker: Before being in such an intimidating match-type something that needs to be taken care of is your opponent’s mental condition. In order to win a cage match, you need to not only beat your opponent to a bloody pulp, but you also need to make this a horrifying experience for them so that their mental state can never be the same again thus eliminating them and getting rid of the weak. The Rebel Bad Ass fears Wake Walker, he knows that Wake Walker can defeat The Rebel Bad Ass with ease, and so this is why he continues to try to pulverize me when I least expect it. By the end of this match, I will make sure that The Rebel Bad Ass has been traumatized just enough so he leaves me alone. Frankly, I’m tired of having to go through this same process over and over again. Fight, beat up each other during another match, talk trash, fight again, have nothing be solved, fight AGAIN, beat up each other… IT ALL NEEDS TO STOP! And this Sunday in Charlotte I will make sure everything will come to an end, for The Rebel Bad Ass that is.
The scene switches to Wake Walker in his locker room.
A veteran…
Somebody who probably has not achieved much
But has been gutsy enough to stay in the business for that long.
The Rebel Bad Ass is a veteran.
I look up at veterans.
But not to look at them, but to look at the goals which they have failed to get a hold of.
Wake Walker: Most people have called me crazy, although they’re right, but not because of my mental state but because I chose to go head to head with the veteran, The Rebel Bad Ass. Most think I’m in over my head but they’re all wrong. Veterans are called “veterans” only because they’ve been in the company for a long time, their goals, if any, are not recognized because they’re unimportant. If we look at the record of The Rebel Bad Ass, we have a man who has accomplished almost nothing in the large amount of time that he has been here. That’s why The Rebel Bad Ass isn’t called a, “Legend” an “Icon” or maybe even a “rising star” but instead, he is called a veteran. Some have asked me how I have been able to take the constant beatings that The Rebel Bad Ass has given me. It’s simple, his beatings are weak. When a new superstar such as me is told to beat someone, he WILL beat him because he has the aspiration that maybe if he does this long enough he will be considered one of the greats someday. That’s if there is any sign of hope. When someone like The Rebel Bad Ass tries to inflict pain onto somebody, it isn’t as effective as when a newbie does it because his hopes and dreams of becoming something great have truly been shattered as he has already tried his best in the past and that has gotten him nowhere.
You’re not permanent.
Soon you will have to leave.
I should thank you
But I won’t.
Wake Walker: The Rebel Bad Ass and I have fought countless times, and time and time again nothing has been solved. Even after all of this, I don’t see you as somebody whom I will remember. You’re not a steeping stone, you’re a catapult. I should thank you, but I won’t. If anything, I’m helping you. I’m going to make sure to bring out the best in The Rebel Bad Ass because personally, his time was up a long time ago. It’s time that he realizes that even his best isn’t enough to compete with today’s superstars. I’m going to help you dig your grave, and as a bonus I will bury you. You will be remembered by few as the one who catapulted Wake Walker into stardom, and to the rest, you’re nobody. The Rebel Bad Ass, your career is on the fast lane to hell, and fortunately for you, I’m going to help you reach the end of that road.
And so a steel cage match it is…
The final match between The Rebel Bad Ass and Wake Walker
The feud ends.
You CAN teach an old dog new tricks.
Wake Walker: The Rebel Bad Ass, from the moment I joined this company I knew that you were a somewhat respected veteran. And like the monkeys in the back, I decided to praise you too. I respected you until I actually faced you in the ring, and from then the only thing that you have gained is my pity. At this point, most of my respect towards you is gone. Now I know that I no longer need to overestimate people like you because you’re just big, nagging babies. The Rebel Bad Ass has done a lot of nagging ever since we crossed paths; I only hope he stops after I teach him that bullying others only leads to disrespect. Right now, it’s too late to earn my respect … with your attitude; I now find it hard to believe that anybody respects you.
Final words on The Rebel Bad Ass
Wake Walker: One final thing that I want to say to The Rebel Bad Ass is that I agree with him on one thing. We need to make this match a memorable one for the sake of your legacy. After all of what we have done to each other, we’re both certain to have bad blood. This bad blood will not only help jumpstart the beginning of the end for The Rebel Bad ass, but it will also make this fight be the BEST anybody has ever seen in a long time. With my passion, I can assure everybody that it will be a great match.
Later that night…
The lights in the whole arena shut off. Some of the crowd members begin to scream and others cheer that all the lights are out. The titantron begins to play Wake Walker’s titantron, but no music can be heard until after five seconds have passed, then “Cuttooth by Radiohead” plays. The beginning of the song plays which gets louder and louder the more you let it play. Finally, when the song gets to the lyrics Wake Walker comes out and stands on the ramp. The crowd cheers for Wake Walker while a few boo. Wake Walker begins to walk towards the ring and as he is walking towards it he points to it. On his way there, Wake Walker slaps the hands of several fans of his. Wake Walker is wearing a leather jacket, leather pants, and sunglasses. Wake Walker stands in the middle of the ring, looks down and removes his leather jacket. On one of the turnbuckles is a microphone which Wake Walker grabs. Wake Walker walks back to the center of the ring and places the microphone next to his mouth.
Wake Walker: What’s up Charlotte!!?
The crowd cheers as they hear the name of their city being mentioned. Wake Walker prepares to speak, but before he does he lets out a grin and the crowd begins to chant, “Walker!”. After a while, the crowd settles down.
Wake Walker: It’s great to be here! There are so many friendly faces! Well, while that may be great and all, that’s not really why I’m here. I would like to talk about The Baz. Last week on Fight Night, I took The Baz on a one on one fight to see who would progress in the GM for a day spot tournament and well…I lost.
The crowd cheers as soon as they hear , “The Baz” but when they hear, “I lost” the crowd is split; some cheering and some are booing.
Wake Walker: In that match, I placed every little bit of energy that I had. I placed every little bit of emotion which I had. In that match, I put my pride on the line…but I lost. Something I have come to realize a little late in my life is that you don’t always get things the way you want them. Because I lost, does not mean that I am done with my career; it does not mean that my hopes and dreams of becoming someday a champion in this industry have gone down the drain. It only means that The Baz was the better man last week and I am open to accept that. A true warrior can get back up from a tough defeat. I am a true warrior, and I will not let this huge loss affect me at all. I congratulate The Baz with his victory, but something that The Baz needs to know is that just because I can recognize the fact that I lost does not mean that I am happy with the result. The Baz is someone I will have to take care of after I take care of my biggest problem The Rebel Bad Ass. The Rebel Bad Ass is a coward in my eyes. Whenever we have fought, cheating methods have been used. The cage match is pretty straight forward. No weapons can be used, and nobody can interfere. Let me show you straight forward this match-type is.
Wake Walker leaves the ring, and brings a couple of items inside of the ring. Wake Walker puts all the items on the floor except for a steel chair. Wake Walker slams the chair against the ground.
Wake Walker: The Rebel Bad Ass cannot use this to dent my head in.
Wake Walker puts the chair down and grabs a picture of Alexx. The picture seems to be pretty revealing, and it seems to be the front cover of Playgirl magazine. Wake Walker takes a look at this picture and looks away disgusted.
Wake Walker: The Rebel Bad Ass can’t use him, fortunately for all of us!
Wake Walker puts the picture down , grabs a beer bottle and smashes it on the turnbuckle. Some of the beer bottle goes flying into the crowd, while the rest stays in Wake’s hand.
Wake Walker: The Rebel Bad Ass can’t use this either.
Wake Walker puts the beer bottle down and picks up a vibrator. Wake Walker seems to be disgusted by the very sight of it, and by the fact that he is actually touching it.
Wake Walker: He sure as hell can’t use this. Wait, are these things supposed to be shacking?
The crowd laughs hysterically and cheers afterwards. Wake Walker throws the vibrator outside the ring as fast as he can. Wake Walker grabs the final item which is a CD. Wake Walker looks at it for a few seconds.
Wake Walker: There’s something written on this. It says, “Copy of this CD is with the backstage crew”. Well, I guess we might as well use it. Play the footage, friends!
The lights go off and some very romantic music can be heard in the background. The footage begins at a farm. Right in the beginning the title of the movies comes up as, “Cowboys just want to have fun”. The crowd laughs right as they see this. A cowboy can be seen scrubbing a cow very gently. Suddenly, Alexx who is also dressed as a cowboy comes up to the other cowboy and lightly punches him. The cowboy directs his attention towards Alexx, and suddenly, his hands begin to massage Alexx’s shoulders.
Wake Walker: Whoa! What the Hell!? Cut the footage! Cut the footage!
The cowboy begins to move his lips closer to Alexx and right before any contact can be made, the footage stops and the lights turn back on. The majority of the crowd is laughing their asses off.
Wake Walker: Okay…after seeing that….I can unfortunately say I’ve seen it all. What in the blue blazes…? Did we steal Alexx’s personal collection of favorite things he likes to use!? Now Alexx, I don’t judge…but for the love of…
Wake Walker grabs the CD and throws it. Afterwards, he shivers. The crowd laughs again.
Wake Walker: this match, the better man wins hands down. There is no such thing as cheating. We can both use the cage as a weapon as much as we please, and that’s a weapon that is available to both of us. At Betrayal, I guarantee that I will win.
Wake Walker drops his microphone and leaves the arena.
Two different personalities.
The Wake Walker the crowd knows.
And the Wake Walker not many know.
On-stage and backstage they differ.
NAW
Wake Walker: I would like to say a word about the NAW. We continue to dominate for the most part, and it’s only a matter of time before we, The New Age Wrestlers, are widely recognized as a force that should be feared. Razor, McIntyre and Wake Walker will be the kings of this company soon enough and when they are, the NAW will take over the FWA. We can't really be a stable with three men, now can we? Perhaps, we need to search for a new member? A newbie to the FWA who has hopes of someday being as great or even better than the greats. But who...?
