World: This world spans an entire galaxy, a galaxy filled with thousands upon thousands of stars. In all of their exploration, Humans have not found another sentient race. Humans lost the coordinates to the genesis of their species, the solar system and their home planet Terra, centuries ago. There are colonized planets in nearly ever star system that contains a planet. Terraforming has become second nature to the scouts and colonizers of the galaxy. There is a band of decimated planets dividing the explored portion of the galaxy known as the Inert Sector.

Factions: There are two Factions that have been at war with each other for as long as they have records of human existence. These factions are: The Divine Collective, and the Sojourners. The Inert Sector splits these two factions and moves based on planets taken. Currently the Collective has control of more planets than the Sojourners.

The Divine Collective: This faction is heavy-handed and brutal. They destroy everything that stands against them and oppress any planet that does not submit. Any planet that willingly and unconditionally serves the Collective enjoys a seat on their Senate and a number of rights not allowed to the resistors. Their military is supported by a permanent draft, with those willingly joining being rewarded with starting positions of their choosing. They are not as well trained as the Sojourners but are better armed and armored. The Collective's government is centered around a great religious leader known simply as The Prophet. This man, whose name is unknown, leads the Collective spiritually and physically. The current Prophet is a heartless dictator hell-bent on the destruction of their most hated foe, the Sojourners. Despite the iron-hand of their leader, the Collective is prospering and the standard of living is well above the poverty level.

The Sojourners: The Sojourners are, to put it simply, a Communist Monarchy led by a matriarch. Any planet under their control that is not prospering is given funds and resources from a planet that is. They do not draft civilians into the military because they do not have to. The planets under the Sojourners are very nationalistic. The troops are well-trained and equipped with the best the Sojourner researchers and scientists can design, but it is lacking behind the Collective. Their leader, the Princess Nara, has put a large portion of the faction's resources into finding Terra in the hopes that having it under Sojourner control would persuade many, if not all, of the Collective's planets to rebel and fall under her rule. With 1/3 of the galaxy still unexplored, or with the records of their exploration lost, this is no easy task.

Technology: Nanotechnology, energy/plasma weapons and defenses, and genetics have all been explored to a vast degree. Nano-weapons are still used by terrorists, but the two great militaries have given up using them against soldiers due to the defensive nano-machines in their blood-streams. Lasers and plasma weapons, energy and plasma shields, have all been built and implemented, but there is always room for improvement. Cybernetic implants have a 100% success rate and the technology behind them is growing daily. A soldier with a 10 year old cybernetic arm will not have an arm that is as natural appearing as a soldier who gets one today. Nearly every body part can be replaced, up to roughly 97% of the human body (brain is of course impossible to replicate with machines).

Faster Than Light travel (FTL for short) is accomplished by 'warping' the ship through a wormhole. These wormholes link star systems together, never skipping by a star system for an "express" route. Due to this FTL limitation, the Inert Sector is quite literally the boundary line between the two factions, every system within the Inert Sector is bordered on both sides by systems in control of either force. The factions cannot skip over these systems so they have become the battle-lines for this age-old war. There are two systems within the Inert Sector that practice a form of neutrality, allowing civilian vessels to cross the Inert Sector. These systems, Valhalla and Niflheim have very strict porting and passage procedures that limit the movement of covert operatives through their systems. The Sojourners and Collective allow them to exist for morale purposes. This allows families that are split by the Inert Sector to meet on neutral ground, or to visit eachother.

Collective Characteristics: Anything built by the Collective is bulky, powerful, and very hard to destroy. Their ground vehicles are slow and extremely well-armored, with the most common unit being a large exoskeleton with various armaments attached to it. Their space vessels are module-like, with the armaments, armor, and shields kept inside during peace-time. It takes roughly two minutes for the ship to become battle ready as the residential areas and the bridge are brought to the center of the ship and the “battle phase” is brought outside.

Sojourner Characteristics: Small, light, and very maneuverable. These three traits define all that is Sojourner. Sacrificing armor for speed, their vessels can take very few hits. Their tactics work around this, favoring guerrilla warfare over head-on confrontations. The Sojourner vehicles are very sharp in appearance, with little wasted space. Their land vehicles consist mostly of lightly armored personnel carriers and light battle tanks that are very well-armed and very mobile. Their space vessels are built around their purpose, a carrier is just a large hangar, a battleship is built solely for the purpose of destroying enemy vessels quickly and efficiently, etc.

Players: Limited to a military position in any branch no higher than second lieutenant (platoon leader) or command of one space vessel of any size or type, if in a fighter or bomber squadron, can have command of said squadron. Can create up to maximum of 6 living characters consisting of one primary character and said primary's immediate subordinates or comrades. The player can kill off any secondary character and replace them if needed. To kill another player's characters, the killer must receive permission from the victim beforehand. Any killed character cannot be revived at a later period of time but can be replaced by a new character created by the player. New secondary characters will be introduced in the story thread and will not have a formal post describing their skills and such in this thread. They will be introduced "on the go." Please update character status in this thread if character is killed. To update their status, just add "*Deceased*" a line before the character's name.

The player can join any branch of the military and be any sub-group, including but not limited to special forces, specialized combat units, or air cavalry.

Your Choice: Will you choose the Lost Hope of humanity, the planet of Terra, or power and domination? Will you join the Sojourners or the Divine Collective?

If you have an issue with the format, I can upload the .doc file and link to it here. I have noticed that I kind of made the Collective out to be the bad guys.... I do hope that doesn't mean everyone joins the Sojourners haha.

Request: Please keep your primary/secondary characters the focus of your posts. Also try to keep in mind the chain of command when receiving/giving orders.

Name: McCairn, Geoffrey Alistair

Physical Description: Well-built with dark brown hair and dark grey eyes. Shoulder length hair and mutton chops have been allowed due to the circumstances of the soldier's missions.
Psychological Profile: Distrust of authority has kept the soldier within the lower echelons of the military with no chance of promotion. The soldier performs well under stress and stays calm when under pressure.
Implants: Required visual and aural implants in right eye and ear for all spec ops NCO's in addition to dog-tags at base of skull. No other cybernetic implants installed. Eye implant appears under UV light.
Skills or talents: Remarkable accuracy with plasma and HE grenade launchers and uncanny ability to lead a squad-sized element. Above-average accuracy with battle rifles and machine pistols.

McCairn leads a fireteam within the UCSP (Urban Combat Specialist Platoon). He has more battle experience than soldiers twice his age and enjoys his work. The soldier is a completely different person away from the battlefield, cheery and slightly mischievous. McCairn speaks with a slight English accent.

Name: Dulcef, Katerine Nastasia
Rank: Private First Class
Age: 24
Height: 1.67 meters (around 5'6”)
Weight: 49.8 kilograms (roughly 110 pounds)
Physical Description: Small and frail-appearing with blood red hair and mismatched eyes. Left eye is dark blue while right eye is green. Jaw-length hair usually covering left-eye when not on a battlefield.
Psychological Profile: Horrific childhood has permanently scarred this soldier's psyche and prevents the soldier from rising above the rank of Private First Class. Lance Corporal McCairn seems to be only soldier Dulcef trusts. Performs well under stress. See note at bottom of file.
Implants: Left eye is cybernetic, replacing damaged eye from a battle aboard a Collective Corvette, color is 99.99% match to original. Circuits visible under UV light. Dog-tags at base of skull and aural implant moved to left ear to accommodate the cybernetic left eye.
Skills or talents: Qualified for every sniper rifle currently employed by the SMC as well as perfect score on marksmanship qualifications with battle rifles and sidearms.

Dulcef is a permanent member of Lance Corporal McCairn's fireteam. The only reason this soldier is even still within the military is because General Kazurov believes the soldier is not a hindrance when attached to McCairn and the soldier's skills will save civilian and military lives. Dulcef is very quiet and the soldier does not speak up unless ordered to. The soldier is a very valuable asset to this fireteam. Dulcef speaks with a fairly thick Slavic accent.

Name: Dubhuir, Keara Aine

Age: 18
Height: 1.75 meters (roughly 5'9”)
Weight: 53.52 kilograms (roughly 118 pounds)
Physical Description: Midnight blue dyed hair and deep blue eyes. Somewhat frail in appearance. The soldier keeps her hair in a ponytail when not on a battlefield.
Psychological Profile: Nothing of note. Not enough battle experience to determine the soldier's ability to handle stress or act when under fire.
Implants: Standard visual and aural implants in right eye and ear with dog-tags implanted at base of skull. Cybernetic implants along skull allow Dubhuir to better interface with satellites under SMC control. Eye implant visible under UV light.
Skills or talents: Above-average marksmanship with battle rifles and superior information manipulation and fabrication skills. Accuracy with anti-vehicle missiles is far above-average.

Dubhuir is an invaluable member of Lance Corporal McCairn's fireteam when infiltrating Collective planets. The soldier is not a hindrance on the battlefield and provides very valuable information to the platoon. Dubhuir has a very loud and outgoing personality that is not fully suppressed on the battlefield. Possibility of promotion will be decided upon after more battle data has been collected. The only current demerit is the soldier's personality. Dubhuir speaks with a thick Gaelic accent.


Name: Jaeger, Magnus Sigurd
Rank: Private First Class
Age: 20
Height: 1.85 meters (roughly 6'1”)
Weight: 83.9 kilograms (roughly 185 pounds)
Physical Description: Powerfully built with light brown hair and light blue eyes. Shaggy beard and somewhat shaggy hair allowed due to circumstances of soldier's missions.
Psychological Profile: Nothing of note. Stress reaction within acceptable limits and no “freezing” when under fire.
Implants: Standard visual and aural implants in right eye and ear with dog-tags implanted at base of skull. Eye implant visible under UV light.
Skills or talents: Above-average accuracy with crew-served weapons as well as light machine-guns. He is also the fireteam's medic, although not an especially well-trained one.

Jaeger is the least noteworthy in Lance Corporal McCairn's fireteam, although this in itself is somewhat noteworthy. The soldier performs well enough when under high degrees of stress and has no debilitating psychological or physical attributes. Jaeger is a very serious man, both in and away from battle. Jaeger speaks with no identifiable accent.

McCairn and Dulcef both fall under the rare classification as "true terrans." These two soldiers are from Gaia. There are only 4 known planets that match this perfectly, only the Sojourner capital planet of Gaia is under Sojourner control. The other three Terran planets are within Collective borders. Dubhuir is from Tuatha Danaan, a planet with a 1.05 gravity when compared to Terra and an orbit cycle roughly two times the length of Terra's. Bjorn is from the planet Folkvangr, with .85 gravity and 4/5 orbital cycle of Terra.


McCairn's fireteam is under the command of Staff Sergeant Adelmeister. Adelmeister has proven very effective at leading his men and has currently refused the offer to be promoted to a Commissioned Officer. Other members of Adelmeister's squad include: Lance Corporal Raev, Private First Class Jackson, Private First Class Satou, and Private D'Ange. Second Lieutenant Stephens, lead officer of the UCSP, reports directly to General Kazurov and has, under his command, 2 VTOL transport aircraft, and the associated crew and support members, and two squads of men.

The UCSP is a special platoon whose primary focus is infiltration of Collective planets, counter-terrorist operations on homefront, and boarding operations for the capture of Collective vessels. They are currently the only brance of the Sojourner Marines to use dog-tag implants instead of bar-code tattoos at base of skull. The implants are used to better allow the soldiers to infiltrate civilian life.

Description: A rather large man, Gur has short trimmed brown hair, and no sign of facial hair. He is powerfully built and also pretty bright.

He obtained the alias "Gur" due to an apparent history of mental sickness. Ned has two personalities, one being the kind and intelligent Ned Edwards, and the other being a more....primitive Gur. Gur cannot speak any coherent words, just the sound "Gur" furthermore he becomes very reckless. These outbreaks are rare, and hasn't happened recently.

Ned works under Jack.
