Okies... Might as well start a thread of fanfiction recommendations. Any fandom is allowed here, just please follow this format:
Story Title: Author's Pen Name: Fandom: Short Summary: Reason for Recommendation: (Brief!) Link: Simple? Hope so! ^^; I'll be back later to post my own rec's, but at least here's a start! ^^ -------------------- |

The top three that come to my mind at the moment:
title: "Mission X" author name: Kurome Shiretsu fandom: Yu Yu Hakusho, crossed with X-Men Evolution link @ http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1583997/1/ summary/reason: I like it. A lot. title: "Spin Cycle" author name: Vathara fandom: Stargate SG-1, crossed with Rurouni Kenshin and Airwolf link @ http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1941214/1/ summary/reason: I discovered this recently and felt I'd been missing out. I have not seen Stargate SG-1 in over a year, and it was one of Dad's shows, not mine, but I can follow the storyline as it is written well and even like the Airwolf characters I hadn't known existed. All of the Kenshin characters used /fit/ amazingly and I love the length involved! Don't miss this if you have any corresponding knowledge of SG-1. Vathara springboards story after story from one another, so you shouldn't miss either its prequel or sequel, though they needn't actually all proceed in order, unless stated. Vathara writes in other fandoms as well, so I futher recommend the ForeignxChange crossover that's Yu-gi-oh and X-men Evo based. I don't even really like those terribly much! I have a definite weakness for crossovers done well, but I could recommend many other fics for a LONG time. *shrug* believe it or not, there's HOURS' worth above. If you like them, there's much more where they came from, or search ffnet on your own! -------------------- [SIZE=1][SIZE=1][SIZE=1]

Please note: Rem-chan has updated! There are now fourteen chapters to "A Glint of Amber Stars." This also means that there has been a surge of people reading it again, and I know it has been added to other authors' favorites. This story is second to a Kingdom Hearts fic she's writing, but if you ask very nicely, she may devote more attention to this and perhaps post the long-awaited confrontation...

Title: If You Need Her
Author: Scribe Figaro Fandom: Inuyasha Short Summary: What if you had a second chance at life? What if you could carry only a single name from your own grave? A determined Miroku searches for Sango, his only link to the life he once had. Reason for Recommendation: I read the entire story in one sitting after it had been on my "to read" list for a while. The story is so packed with fluff, drama, angst, and has an excellent plot to boot that I couldn't help but recommend it! Links: IYNH @ FF.net IYNH @ Kumo no Su I'll post more later as I think of them! ^^ -------------------- |

I didn't know where else to post this, but I wanted to thank you, benign_intent, for suggesting those crossover stories, they were excellent!! I love the Spin Cycle especially, and it's followers!!!
I'm going to check out the other two stories when I have some down time at work. I'll be back to recommend a story or two myself, when i find where they are... Oh well. Thanks again!!! ~Kasi. |

Hooray! I'd had no idea if anyone read the ones I'd been sure to point out...and now I know that you have, at least, Kasifya! Thank you!
You posted in the correct spot--now "Spin Cycle" has a reinforced recommendation I'll be glad to see your suggestions, as I may have missed some excellent reading. BakaBokken, I HAD seen "If You Need Her" before, and it has been too long since I last read it to remember much more than I thought it was worth writing in my list of "look at this again sometime later." Inuyasha fics have all taken a backseat recently, but I still have my pages of ones I marked as worthwhile--of which that is one. I was quite disappointed to find Rurouni Star removed, "All Life's A Play," and alandrem and Chris-san and Saro haven't updated in forever, so I shelved the whole section, eheh. I'd appreciate if you could maybe interest me in the good one's I've surely not seen. -------------------- [SIZE=1][SIZE=1][SIZE=1]

My, my, demanding aren't we? XD Just kidding. I'm sorry if I posted a story you'd already read, benign. I have no way of knowing what fanfictions people here have read thus far, so if I list a few that you've already stopped by, I apologize. ^^; I'll try to bring up stories that may not be as well known, but I can only do so much mind-reading.
ANYway. I do have another couple of recommendations - I'm trying to give a broader range of fandoms other than just Rurouni Kenshin and Inuyasha. Oo, lookie! We've got Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist, Peace Maker Kurogane, Saiyuki, Get Backers, and Gundam Wing as well! :3 Flutterby by Goldberry Bleach A collection of short (and often angsty) Bleach drabbles centering around Ichigo and Rukia. I love this collection! For the length of the drabbles, they're incredibly written and give a very interesting perspective on two of the main Bleach characters. A great read for any Bleach fan, I assure you! ^^ Flutterby at FFnet hyottoshite by wai no feni Bleach Though she never told him, he was the most important person in the world to her. HitsuHina This is an adorable one-shot centering a character that's grown on me recently. Ahh, the joys of puppy love... :3 hyottoshite at FFnet Kill or be Killed by Hitokiri-san Fullmetal Alchemist [AU-One-shot] As war between Artemis and Drachma breaks out, Roy finds himself dreading the moment of cruel revelation to an unsuspecting Edward. As reluctant as he is to admit it, Fullmetal is, after all, still a child. Hitokiri-san does an excellent job bringing out the angst in a rather tough situation. Very beautifully written; great read for FMA fans. Kill or be Killed at FFnet OnCall Doctor by Phoe-chan Peace Maker Kurogane [Comedian Three; Shinpachi-Centric.] Shinpachi has a fear of doctors. With the new doctor coming to take care of the Miburo, it's up to the Comedian Three to make sure the Doctor's life is a living hades. This story is just plain adorable and quite funny. Despite the occasional grammatical and spelling error, the characterizations are excellent and it definitely made me smile. OnCall Doctor at FFnet And Miles to Go by X-Parrot Saiyuki Because into every life, a little snow must fall. To say nothing of hypothermia, avalanches, and ice demons...it's going to be one of those days. [complete] This story contains an excellent element of suspense and drama, and yet there are so many hilarious situations in it that I was far from being left unsatisfied. The characterizations are quite well done as well - and for once, it's a Saiyuki fic without the bombardment of shonen-ai. XD And Miles to Go at FFnet Beneath the Surface by Spectrum Inuyasha One-shot. Inuyasha has a few moments of clarity as he lies gravely injured, alone in the woods. Alone, that is, save for Sesshoumaru... The characterizations in this story are beautiful, and the imagery is excellent. I also loved the insight into Inuyasha's thoughts - very believably written, yet not overdone. Beneath the Surface at FFnet Routine by Sinnatious Rurouni Kenshin Hiko's drinking problem has spiralled out of control, resulting in loads of angst for Kenshin. Epilogue - Things have gone back to normal, but now it's time for Kenshin to leave for Kyoto. Rated R for pretty much everything - see warning inside. Although this is an INCREDIBLY dark look at Hiko and there are a large number of disturbing themes, it's so well-written and believably done that I can't help but admire the author's work on it. However, do heed the warnings: this story is rated R for a very good reason. No jokes there. (And no, it does NOT exceed the R rating. Nothing explicit, mind you, but very much implied and discussed.) Routine at FFnet The Silver Claw by Mayumi-san Get Backers A National Treasure has been stolen! Ban and Ginji are hired to get it back. But wait, they're going to be up against a notorious smuggling group. Can the Get Backers handle it? (this fic will center mostly on Ban) COMPLETE! This is an excellent example of a pure action/adventure story. I love the characterizations in this story, and the plot moves along at a nice pace. It's definitely a fun read. The Silver Claw at FFnet Road Trip by Sunhawk Gundam Wing Duo does what ever it takes to get a very badly hurt Heero to safety, and keep his promise to Heero. Here's my own little disclaimer - I am NOT a fan of yaoi or shonen-ai. This story does contain implied elements of shonen-ai, but they are VERY mild. Now, if you read BEYOND the first story in this arc, you WILL encounter yaoi. I made that mistake already. XD ANYway, this is probably one of the BEST car chase / suspense fanfictions that I've read. It's very well done in terms of keeping your attention. It's not rated on the site, but I might give it a PG-15 rating (between PG-13 and R), mostly for violence, a very intense story line, and foul language. The characters are slightly OOC, but the story is so well-written that it's believable. It was recommended to me by someone else, and I read it before I saw the series... I have to say that I was almost disappointed in the series rather than the story. Road Trip at a GW fic archive Okay, and I think that'll keep whoever's looking at this list occupied for a while. If you read a lot of stuff off my favorite's list, you might have read one or multiple stories that I have here... I tend to add stuff to my favorites if I know I'm going to recommend it. ^^ I'll add more as I come across more, or if you guys would like me to put up more chunks of my favorites list. And yes. I changed the recommendation layout a bit. So sue me. XD -------------------- |

Well I have one recommendation, since I only have a little bit of time, and it isn't even anime, so is that okay? but I recommend:
If wishes were Elves, even Fangirls would Dance Teanna Lord of the Rings. As Legolas and Gimli make their last voyage, a memory returns... Legolas gets pulled into modern day North America, and its all the hijinx of trying to get him home. Usually these are fairly badly written, but this one had me rolling. She has a few other ones that are really good too!!! If you like Legolas, this is priceless! Oh, and Bakabokken! I agree with your estimation of the RoadTrip story, and the arc that comes after it! The Roadtrip is a really good story! And thanks for the other recommendations, they were interesting, though now that I've read up to Vol. 11 of FMA those stories make alot more sense! Thanks again. ~Kasi. |

Hehe, glad you liked the recommendations! ^^
I'd also like to recommend anything by Sueric (she's at both MediaMiner.org and Fanfiction.net) - she's an EXCELLENT InuYasha writer, and quite the hilarious person, too! :3 -------------------- |
