I Think Everyone's Shy ..., Plugging a fanfic, of course. ^_^

There's not a lot of posting going on and nobody's posted in this category at all. So I'll take the plunge, hehe. Don't hurt me. *sticks up an umbrella to protect herself from randomly flung rocks*

I'm writing a fanfic, my first to date ... I know half of you have read it already, but I'm breaking the ice in this category! So there'd better damn well be others of you plugging your own fanfics shortly afterward or I'm going to feel so very alone. (That, and I'll just end up plugging them all FOR you in the category below this one. ;p)

The name is Tanabata Jasmine, in the Action/Drama genre, rating PG-13; a story that starts off on the day of the Tanabata festival, but this isn't a romance fic. This was me trying my hand at a bit of role reversal, and getting Kenshin into a whole heap of trouble while buying flowers from a merchant. I won't say any more than that, but it seems to be well-liked, so ... I'm plugging it! HAH!

Frankly, I had been meaning to post my fanfiction, but...too lazy... XD Still, I'd been waiting for *someone* to post here. ^^;

You really do owe hakubaikou for me reading it originally, but that influential recommendation has very little to do with why I still am. I applaud your first fanfic and your willingness to expose yourself to comment--though I hope most of us are entirely supportive, even good writing (sometimes ESPECIALLY then) has many critics.

Heh, I'm very grateful to HB for posting my fic. It was a major surprise when she emailed me, and then thanked me for accepting. I was thinking "YOU'RE thanking ME?" And yeah, I had a lot of readers jump on from there. It makes for an excellent reference point as her recommendation carries a lot of influence with many ... I don't think I'd have so many readers now if it wasn't for her.

"Tanabata Jasmine" really is good! I especially liked the Princess Bride omake! XD But, you already knew that...

I've been waiting for most of the /really/ good fanfics I read to update; Chapter 10 of An Unexpected Lesson has helped, but I'm ALWAYS out for a good read,and I noted You've not updated very recently, either. I thought I might perhaps add incentive here: I need only type the first chapter of an RK story that's been in my notebook as a sketchframe for a...while...that I've recently returned to. I cannot criticize then without being hypocritical. You post a chapter...I'll face my reluctance and post it on ffnet--and its link here.

If I don't back myself into an honorable arrangement like this proposal, I don't think I'll have the courage to do it anytime soon, though, and I think I'd like to. I think.

RCUS will hold me to it, though, which is what I need. I have no basis for the quality of my writing if I don't show it to anyone, and it's very hard to initiate. I'm bribing myself and you at the same time; please write me a chapter (Okay, not necessarily for ME) and I'll show it to you, or I'll post it for EVERYONE to comment. New material should be a selling point, right? Right?

I really sound pathetic! Oh well. What I know of you, I like, so I figure you'll hear me out. And I'm trying to follow your example as the first to post in this category--can I borrow a cup of courage?

Hehe, I'll give you a cup of courage and a cup of sugar to go with it while I'm at it. XD I'll take you up on your offer, so I warn you you've got about a week or so before you'll have to make good! I've been working on Chapter 26 all this time, the only reason there's such a delay is that it's going to be at least twice as long as any other chapter ... I'm trying my best to end the scene rather than have it drag.

So here's my assurance that I haven't ignored the fic, and also my declaration that yes, I'll damn well hold you to showing us your chapter. ^^ I want to see your writing! Hehe.

One week to type it when no one is around...
My younger brother read the first sentence and scoffed, got through my first paragraph and told me it was no good. He has no idea how discouraging that is. I continued anyway, but he came back a couple minutes later and asked if I'd changed that first sentence yet. However, my younger sister went after him about it, because SHE has read the entire beginning and wants me to write more. So, mixed reviews...I like parts of it, but it still lacks something.
You've worried about action;I worry about dialogue. My style is almost entirely narrative--okay in moderation, dull otherwise. It's paragraphs of scenery and thought and description to bits of plot. It's taking me forever because I'm trying to strike a balance and can't quite reach it.
Now that I've given you my obligatory apologies and a chance for preconceptions, I'll say no more until you see it.
