So I loved it. I felt like it was the first time you truly got to see someone fighting their gift at first. Of course I did have to go back and read some of the previous books to remind myself of some stuff (I don't want to give anything away for some who haven't gotten to the end yet), and I love when we get to see the protectors of the past still fighting.

Good question, Lisa... and it made me think... Does The World in the Quest series have the same controversy over whether marriage should be defined as only one man and one woman as we do in the "real world"? For that matter, can two people of the same gender get married in The Land? Just curious.

This came up because the word "marriage" is a hot button of thought provocation for me. I'm still really stinging from Prop 8 here in California and the fact that as a result of it's passing, my marriage to my partner of 14 years is in legal limbo. So the mere mention of marriage sets my mind to dreaming about lands where two people of the same gender can get married with out question... love is love... And no one even thinks twice about it. corazonlatiendo.gif

On a different note. I am thoroughly enjoying Seer Quest! I'm just starting chapter 9, and so far I think this book is my favorite beginning out of all of the books so far. (Although, I can't deny the the beginning of Oracle Quest got me hooked, so that's a very close second).

Off I go to go read Chapter 9 (and probably several more) before I turn out the light for the evening.

Night!

In the Land, marriage is defined by the people in the relationship. Most go for a somewhat formalized kind of ceremony, in front of friends and family, others go all out at Binding Hill (mostly folks from the Capital City and Rivers Region; you may have noticed that most peeps don't travel outside their Region in the Land too often), others take a very simple exchange with just their soul mate. There's no set words or anything; most write their own vows that are meant to be extremely personal.

Oddly, the mermaid culture has a much more defined marriage ritual (mostly cuz it is so strange for mermaids to want to marry, and its often a combination of assets more than love in the depths). Also, remember in the Leeland Island, the act of a man assisting with a woman's hair in public is defined as a wedding!

There isn't a formal legal process in the Land; they aren't overly concerned with regulation and such. And absolutely, positively, no-question-about-it, people of the same sex can marry. In fact, in the Land, and you told them about Prop 8, they would be utterly confused and bemused. To them (and, me, of course!) love is love and should be treasured and blessed whenever and with whomever it is found.

Beautiful, as it should be. Thank you, for the response. Now I really want to go to The Land! I'll keep hugging trees till I get up there.

I noticed that on the dedication page there is a note "...send in those photos folks!" I took some photos of my day with Seer Quest today. I was going to make a video (I suck at video editing so it may be a PPT). Where should I send it? Post it on this thread or somewhere else on the forum?

So this post is going to be in sections.

On a side note, I will try not to spoil anything, but as there's already a spoiler warning in the very first post, ya'll were warned. laugh.gif

Squee:

**THE TREE! OMG! We learn more about the Tree and it's function to the whole Land and other things. I was absolutely flabergasted(sp?). It was interesting to learn how the Tree communicates with a Seer. And the way the Tree smells, ya'll should try it.

**Astral Projection, I want to do that!

Thought:

**Valdeen, hmm...

**Tree Nymphs, hmm...

Questions:

**If a Seer goes into Astral Projection mode and someone- let's say an attacker- finds the body and kills the body, what would happen to the- how do I say this- floating person? The body of the Seer would die, but would the floating person still be alive?

**We learn that a Seer can only conceive females. Is that entirely true? I know that Seers are always female, but can Seers conceive males as well and just have them not be Seers? Also, can a Seer have twins? And if so, if they are both females will they both end up being Seers or will one be a Seer and not the other? Can a Seer conceive a female and that child not be a Seer? Or will all female children of a Seer always, no matter what, be a Seer? Can a Seer have more than one child in her lifetime?

**Is it coincidence that Liz and- was is Tracy or Sasha that she looked like- had looked similar? If it's a repeated thing, then it's important right?

P.S. More questions will most likely be asked, this is just what I have for now.

Theories...that were wrong:

**I had a theory that Liz was the long lost child of the Seer.

**I had a theory that the main Land Tree, the one in the cave, was related to Liz. This theory connects with the tale that Liz's mother told her about the Tree Nymph. And since normal trees can live to be hundreds of years old, and Liz's mother did lineage to way-back-to-who-knows-how-long-ago I just figured that the main Land Tree was related to Liz as a distant relative. Could this be possible?

**I think Daniel is Evil and Good. He has control over the Interdimensional Void. It makes sense to me. laugh.gif This could be a rather silly theory. Unless he has an evil twin...Speaking of Daniel, what is his true form? He can change to suit whomever he is speaking with. Is this in a previous book and I'm just not remembering? I'll look it up on my own if it is, just tell me which book.

That was more to illustrate she had to run from the World to the Land. You won't see more of the Void itself for a few more books. Was that a spoiler? unsure.gif

No worries Lisa, that was not a spoiler.

By the way, I don't know if you saw my questions or not. May you please debunk some of the theories that I had? laugh.gif Sorry, I've been waiting in anticipation. And no worries, don't feel bad. I can understand if you were busy. I've been running on autopilot all week, I completely understand.
