So some of you have finished Wizard Quest already! I thought I'd open this thread for you to chit chat about the book if you so desire, in anticipation for our chapter by chapter read through (commencing soon!)

So, what was you favorite part? Your not so favorite part (you won't hurt my feelings, trust me)? What surprised you? What character spoke to you the most?

Go for it!

Well I finished my first read of Wizard, and am mid my second read (The First time I read it it was like 1 am on a work night, but I couldn't put it down! So I figured I needed a second read to make sure I didn't miss anything!)

First off I loved the Hogwarts references! As a HP fan I always love to see Harry Potter referenced. I actually forgot that Lisa was the author and went "Oh wow! This author has read HP" and then I went "duh of course she has! That's how you got into these books!" Oops. Another exciting bit was that Ben finally has another male protector! However he is still alone in the World Dimension though, so that didn't really work out for him, but at least he has another guy to hang out with!

I did wonder what happened to Jay's family after he decided to stay in the Land. He was so close to them in the book, and looked after them so much that it made me wonder if they are still being looked after, and if they will ever get to see each other again. I know for me it would be a hard struggle to decide between not being able to see your family again, and being able to start this whole new wonderful life, and to me it seemed like Jay made this decision VERY quickly...

Ohh! by the way I noticed a little reference to a actor named "Neol" in this book, and then a reference in the Hunt Quest description! Very very interesting....

So when will Seer be done... huh... huh... (Kidding! Love you!)

I'm not done with the book yet, but I had to post about this now. I read page 57 and couldn't believe my eyes. I laughed for like 5 minutes straight at the "Hogwarts" reference. It made me so happy. I think it made my week. Thanks Lisa!

I need to officially say... I AM DISAPPOINTED.

Finally. Finally, I think, I'm going to have another guy in this all-girl fest that is the current PotL club. And then, when we FINALLY do get another guy, what happens? He goes to the Land, puts on a dress, then stays there.

I. CAN'T. WIN. dry.gif

I loved the Hogwarts references as well. Though, I have to say I got more of a chuckle to learn that Jay's parents are named Harry and Emma (Emma as a reference to Emma Watson the actress that plays Hermione in the films).

At the end of the book I too, like kimmyblair, found myself worring about Jay's parents. I do hope that the POL help them through the transition and their finances (and get Harry some fried chicken under the cuff now and again) - at minimum I hope that Ben and Tracy will carry messages back and fourth. Heck, since Jay can use electronics in The Land, the world and land folks should be able to send videos, pictures, and PodCasts back and fourth, right??? (Just gotta keep a stock pile of batteries in the land).

Speaking of batteries, we never did learn who the betrayer is (you know the one at the beginning of the book said "I will not fail" and the one that stole the batteries). My hunch, Valdeen. (Unless his learning about the "batereez" was a distraction from the real betrayer.) Or maybe that person is a double agent. I dunno, but my guess is who ever it is will be messing things up and revealed in a future book.

The one thing that strikes me each time I read a Quest book is that there is always at least one reference to the fact that The Land does not have a Healer and has not had one for some time. I can't help but think that has got to keep the balance out of whack. Any one think that William might end up filling that role at some point? Lisa am I off base on this?

Thanks for another wonderful read Lisa, I really enjoyed this book! Though my faves are still the first three.

Harry's profession? I thought he owned the groovy store.
What great insight about William, if it is.
My money is still on Joaren, (might be spelling it wrong)
as being the bad guy.
I have mentioned this before.

OK, so, um, ah, I had to work really hard on this one. I'm thinking organic shopkeeper...I'm following the goat scent.... So satisfyingly subtle! Pure genius. Ceramic artist indeed.

Harry, the potter. Just beautiful!

Snigger. I loved it. I hid Harry Potter in the middle of my book. Sigh. One of the best things I ever did, I think! wink.gif

I got the Harry and the Emma, didn't get the Potter until just read the comments. But I also noticed that Jay's last name is Rupert, so all three are mentioned. I laughed out loud when I saw Rupert. cool.gif forummarker.gif

Just joined the reading. I will be starting Seer Quest soon. Love the books.
