It just occurred to me the other day that the four protectors could be the four elements.
Katie the Oracle = Air Tracy the warrior = Fire (think about putting some flames on her arrows, I bet she would love it!) Ben the seaman = Water Sasha the animal communicater = Earth I am not sure how this would correlate in the story, but I would not be surprised if Lisa has plans to make this important in a later book. There is so much to be revealed to us. Evil has had a tough time fighting against one of these Protectors at once. Imagine what it would be like if the 4 found a way to synergize their powers and fight! Anyone have any thoughts on this idea? Makes me hum a little Earth, Wind, and Fire |

Ok... BRILLIANT! BRILLIANT I SAY!
It's like Alchemy in Harry Potter (which I never understood and it always impresses me when people bring it up!) I can see this totally... Although I would almost switch Katie and Sasha... Katie (if I understand my oracle lore correctly) is power, but she's power because of the Land. There's a connection there, a visceral bond that happens. I just think of an Oracle as being grounded in the Land, and that seems more earthy to me. Sasha, with her telepathy with the animals, could be the air, because so much of her communication is via the air, and she spends so much time literally going through space as she goes from to to |

I love this idea -- and especially the idea that the four of them are better together than as their individual elements. I can't decide whether I would reverse the roles of air and earth or leave them as first proposed but you can make a case either way. Sasha did have dreams about soaring through the air before she left.
And the thing that makes it work in Harry Potter is that Harry is there to unite the four elements/houses. So I wonder whether the Land itself is kind of that uniting factor here? The Land almost acts like a character in its own right. |

But if you start to sing we may have to throw a bucket of water..... No...I like the idea...I am not sure how they would combine their talents into one, but I am sure they are going to do battle together using their seperate talents or working together. They are a great team and I would not want to go up against any one of them alone, never mind combined. |

I am rereading Land Quest now that I have the physical book in my hands.
I guess the new protectors will divide up into the 4 elements. Not sure where to put the newest protector. More about his in the spoilers section! |
