We stayed at the camp site which offers basic accommodation such as campign spots but also these train carriages which is where we stayed just for the hell of it :D I did like the look of their A frame tents which I would try and get next time we head up that way. (Posted Image) (Posted Image) The lava tubes....amazing size on them but not for the faint hearted as you do have to clamber down into them in a few places. The colours don't stand out in these pictures but they were pink/orange/white/yellow/red in places and our guide Tim was just brilliant. This is the sort of road you have to drive along this way. The strip of tarmac down the middle is where you drive along until something comes the other way then you both drop off the side of the road so you're both half on half off and pass each other. Hubbie said this was how a lot of the old highways were like back in the late 80's when he back packed aorund Oz.
(Posted Image) The good old road train....stay out of their way as they won't care too much about you and they don't have shift so pull over and let them pass! (Posted Image) Termite mound :D they were just plonked along the roadside and were massive  Roy kept on about stopping to tap a few trees so he could make his own didgereedoo (SP??)
