Anyone who feels like attending a meeting may do so, but "active membership" is apparantly restricted to students, staff, and faculty by the constitution. At least, according to the copy I have. "Active membership" primarily imparts voting rights when it comes time to choose the executives for the next year, though we are working on adding some more benefits to the position. I will stress again that most of what we do is open to anyone interested and able to attend.

Cool. I'll try to come to a meeting if I have the gas.

Yay, membership for everyone! So technically, anyone who walks into the meeting is a member?

If they take the time to sign in, they're a member. Membership confers little benefit except that there's an easy check-box next to your name for future sign-ins, and I send you the week's schedule every week. E-mailing me accomplishes the same thing in lieu of actually attending a meeting. Nonmembers are welcome at all meetings unless otherwise specified. Everyone at the meeting gets to vote on what goes first, and what gets shown in the next week.

Active membership, which I mentioned earlier, begins with your third meeting in an academic year. That's the one that grants the important powers that I outlined earlier.

Has the check-box attendence thing been floating around these past couple of weeks, cuz I havn't seen it, despite attending pretty regularly. Granted, I am not poping any blood vessels searching...

It's been around. When we're in the study lounge, I keep it either on a low table by the door, or on one of the back tables where people work during the meeting. When we're in the classroom, I keep it up front and generally to the left of the screen.
