...dont get too excited, there is no pics yet (unless graham can help me... wink.gif )

the car got dropped off last night, i changed the wheels for some less attractive ones, but with road legal tyres, laugh.gif got pissed wet as the heavens opened, changed the battery for a new one, and as we speak its in with mechanic friend who will confirm what it needs for MOT worthyness...

the start of a new progress thread has begun... wink.gif

my mechanic friend has been on the phone.

front shocker is shot, needs new brake pipes at the rear (not essential, but says we should get them done anyway) and needs some welding near the fuel tank...

other than that, he cant see why it wont pass, then begins the work of getting it cleaned and de-rusted... rolleyes.gif

ahhhh that's not too bad i suppose. Did it start ok with the new battery lol. which front shock was knackered? Ha ha se rusting is the way forward. Goin to have a bash a that front wing in the next few days which should be fun :-)

haha yeah... im gonna try and cut out all the bad bits, it'll cost more welding wise, but be worth it in the long run...

graham is emailing me some piccies... wink.gif

it wasn't too bad, i must admit, you never know what you are buying when you get a new car, dont get me wrong, there is lots to do after the MOT

well, fitted the new fuel tank last night, fitted new copper brake pipes, fitted new flexipipes at the rear too, got a load of welding done in the fuel tank area (where they always go rolleyes.gif ) got some fetching new budget scrapper wheels off a mk3 golf and centre caps... pulled off arch and sill trim, so is looking sorry but better laugh.gif

MOT today unsure.gif

The car i was talking to you about as i was considering getting it, so didnt take much to get it MOT standard, good work.

i just missed out on a Mk1 Golf project so i think i should just get over it now and actualy put a swanky engine in mine.

Well, its funny you should mention that...

the plan

the other G (red) has koni yellows on it, so i think its swaps time biggrin.gif from what im thinking, the red one is not far off being standard, and with a full VAG service history, deserves to be kept standard i reckon, so thats the plan... take the standard bits off the blue and transfer them to the red, suspension, exhaust, charger etc

...and have the blue running the eaton and the extra bits i haven't fitted to the red yet...

...as for much money for the MOT, its cost more than i anticipated kerrly mate...
new fuel tank, some welding around the filler neck area, front suspension, rear brake pipes, rear brake flexi pipes, new battery, new tyres... its come in a pretty sum including my mechanic friends time... sad.gif

still... its running fine now... i have to locate where the frig an oil leak is coming from... but i knew what i was letting myself in for i suppose... the good thing is i can now swap parts between the two... so the plan is working... i need to be driving the G to get me in to what to expect from them, running things etc... but it all good... i'll get there... cool.gif

i'll take some piccies at lunch as the car is here at work today...
