A breathtaking figure emerged from behind the scratchy brush, Dayna scanned her land she wasn’t hungry she was content. Her bright green eyes gave away no emotions and her sleek black coat reflected the ever growing sunlight. The tall female wolf walked to the center of the field her broadened muscles flexing with every step she took.

Dayna tilted her black head towards the sky, the clouds were angry and overcast but it didn’t bother her, her opened her mouth and howled fiercely but still sincere, it stretched far beyond her lands, to a sign of welcome, and also a fair warning, though her Kemi blood made her kind and one with the earth at times, Her Rukkina blood made her a fighter.

After calling to anyone that would listen; Dayna sat back and waited, she swished her long black and green tail through the grass, her green tips were much brighter and more vivid then the dull color of the dew covered grass.

Rai, flew swiftly overhead overlooking the lands in all it’s silence. Then an echoing howl reached his ears. “Humph, so someone else is here…” his voice sounding rather amused, since these fields had been empty for a long time, it had perhaps been months since the last person had entered these fields. He continued to fly over the field s until he’d spotted a black figure amongst the green of the field. He swooped in lower to get a closer look, it was a female wolf, perhaps she was the one who’d utter the fierce howl a while ago. “Hello miss, I am Rai, and who might you be?” Rai sailed just over the fae casting a large shadow over her, he smiled. “ Is this not a beautiful day?” Rai said calmly, trying to start a conversation with the fae.

Dayna was sitting in the fields looking through the sky, and quiet frankly she wasn’t expecting to see anything but to her surprise there was another wolf in the sky. “Wolves with wings, they’re all show – offs” Dayna rolled her eyes, her tone was sarcastic but no one could hear her.

She watched the large wolf land right in front of her, she also listened to her introduce himself, this could be a possible pack member and of all things Dayna wasn’t stupid. She was going to be on best terms and as long as he played nice she would too.

“Hello, and Welcome Rai, I’m Dayna and I rule these lands, but you are most welcomed to join, and I assure you, you would be in the highest of ranks, a wolf of your stature shouldn’t get stuck being a subordinate.” Dayna gave a heart felt laugh, but it was calm and controlled like most of her actions.

“Well beautiful wouldn’t be my exact words, it actually looks like rain but for now, it is, as always calm before a storm” Dayna gave a gentle smile and let the other wolf speak.

He listened carefully to the wolf’s welcome, she seemed nice, that is until she began speaking of rank, placing him in the highest of ranks right at the beginning, was this her way of mocking him, playing on his pride, her laugh came to him a sneer, a clip of his glorious wings would’ve felt just the same. “Please milady, do not tease me with a promise of high rank if you do not mean these words” Rai tried to keep his temper, and for now it was under control, but he felt his claws starting to scratch the dirt. “as of the day, yes it is gloomy now, but if you look past the clouds you would indeed see a glorious day” her smile was so different from her laugh, what was she trying to do, lure him in, or repel him?

Dayna pushed a hurt look across her perfect black face, her deep green eyes shone, dangerously. It was a kind accusation but still an accusation, but Dayna reminded herself of the higher purpose looked thoughtfully at this wolf and opened her mouth speaking in the most serious tone she could manage.

“Pardon me, my friend, but it seems you have misinterpreted my words” She smiled calmly. “I do not tease, In my pack I speak of first come first serve, it’s good to have good wolves filled in, instead of a leader and a bunch of subordinates.” She smiled again, standing up moving her black tail slowly side to side.

“And remember my dear, Of all the wicked things I am, I am far from a liar” She smiled and nodded towards him.

be reassured on dayna's promise of high rank Rai spoke calmly "i will trust your word lady dayna" rai bowed respectfully, he rose back to his feet "but what rank do you speak of m'lady?" he was curious to know what rank she spoke of, surely she didn't mean alpha, to a newcomer as himself that rank would have to be earned either way. "which ever rank is given to me, i swear to excute my duty with all my heart. i live to server my alphess, i give you my word and my word is my bond" Rai spoke with a noble tone, he spread his wings out to his sides as he bowed again, this time closing his eyes.

"lady dayna, your wish is my command, i live to serve you and my pack. your enemy is mine, and all those who stand against us are doomed to face death at my fangs!" rai spoke in a sincire tone, he stood before the beautiful alphess waiting her answer.

Dayna smiled, a half smiled, but for what it was worth it seemed pretty friendly and truthful. “I’m glad we now understand each other.” She nodded briskly and her small act of respect was short lived.

She listened to the male speak of many things and not once did she doubt him, which made her smile, she at first was unconscious of her smile but then as it grew she realized and was able to contain her happiness. A pack member would be a delight to have, since she had spent much of her time alone.

“You speak of such bold promises, and I trust you can keep them well” Dayna had been switching from standing to sitting, many times so she decided to lay down, she swung her tail over her hind legs and looked down at the grass. “As for rank, I may be so bold as to say Beta, or Chief Hunter, they would suit you, no?”

beta, the highest rank anyone beside the alpha/alphess could want, this rank only second to the authority the alpha commanded. Rai nodded " thank you m'lady, you will not regret this decision, i will prove myself worthy of your trust" Rai said calmly. "i shall be your knight, your beta, i will prove to all the power of baerar, and i would lay down my life for my pack" Rai spoke the only words that came to him, and Rai rarely lied. he sat his ears perked listening to all the noises of the scene around them, he heard the soft rustle of leaves, the songs of the birds, the melodies of the crickets.

he closed his eyes and let out a slow sigh "if only you could see what i've become brother..." rai whispered in a voice that was almost too low for anyone to hear.

Dayna laughed, it was melancholy and happy all the same time, then she shifted her paws underneath her, she didn’t have much body weight, but it still moved. She smiled gingerly, “I’m glad, it seems that I have made the right choice.”

She felt a silent rumble from her belly, hungry had taken it’s toll mid day like it normally would, there were plenty of animals to much on out in those woods, she smiled taking in all the scents from the forest, that was a ways a way, but it’s scent was the strongest filled with all kinds of life.

She turned to the male wolf, interrupting her pleasant thoughts. “My dear, Beta, would you mind being my company to hunt among the Atalante Trees” She smiled and sat down. “If you go I shall follow you.” She nodded at a small opening in the fields that led to the woods.

“Of course m’lady, I’d love to accompany you in hunting” Rai’s voice hadn’t changed in tone. He looked over to the opening his alphess had pointed out and nodded. He tucked his wings to his side and started off towards the hunting grounds. The scents of prey filled his nose and his stomach rumbled. He licked his fangs in preparation for the bounty that he would bring to his alphess.
