Daguerre

Name: Daguerre (Pronounced DAG-AIR) Valmont

Age: 26

Sex: Male

Eye color: Icy blue with no pupils

Hair color: Light blonde

Weight: 140 lbs.

Height: 5’11”

Race: Human

Occupation: Animator/Necromancer

Appearance: Messy, unkempt hair sits atop of his head and reaches down to his jawbone with a color so blonde, that in bright lights, it almost appears white. His skin is alabaster white and seems to only brighten when he bleeds. His tall and lean frame doesn’t allow him to gain very much muscle mass (even though he never really attempted to become strong); however, the level of strength that he is at now is satisfaction enough and he gets by. A long, light-green coat sits on his shoulders (whenever Loralie isn’t wearing it) and hides his dark attire. A slightly faded black shirt, that seems a size too big, covers his torso and is opened slightly to expose some of his chest. The sleeves are usually rolled up just above his forearms and below his elbows, which show-off his bandaged wrists and palms. Occasionally, he leaves his scarred wrists and palms exposed to get strange glances from strangers. His baggy shirt tucks into his tight, gray pants and a pair of black boots reaches up to his calves outside of his clothing.

Personality: Daguerre is a proud man and is quite full of himself. He knows he’s good at what he does and therefore flaunts it, no matter who’s around. In fact, he usually comes across as a jerk if judged by first impressions. He has a horrible habit of being bossy and greedy and will be stubborn if he doesn’t get his way or what he wants. Daguerre likes to feed off other people’s darker emotions, such as hatred and fear, and will go out of his way to make people feel such emotions. It usually takes a while for him to warm up to someone, but if and when he does, he’d (reluctantly) go out of his way for them. Daguerre especially has a soft spot for the ladies, whether it be wooing them or lending a helping hand; however, he is a bit of a male chauvinist pig when it comes to such things.

Relationships:
-Loralie Rosenthal; Assistant
-Bijou Valmont; Sister, whereabouts unknown

Weapons:
QUOTE
Item Name: Finis
Item Type: Bow
Item Description/History: A simple bow with a slightly elegant finish to it.  It is painted crimson then unevenly stained black so that the red hue still shows in some spots. A variety of arrows are used for this bow, some of which are infused with different elements. This item is favored and usually carried by Daguerre.

QUOTE
Item Name: Quietus
Item Type: Sword
Item Description/History: Daguerre stole this sword from a shop when he was just seventeen. He has had it since and it remains in good condition from the lack of use. Only one side of the blade is sharp, but the edge is serrated to the point of being highly noticeable from a distance. The sharp, serrated edge of the blade is crimson while the rest of the sword is black. It is carried by Loralie and still remains rarely used.

QUOTE
Item Name: Respire
Item Type: Dagger
Item Description/History: A ceremonial dagger that was a gift to Daguerre. It’s never used in duels and rarely ever sees blood that is not of its owner. The scars on Daguerre’s wrists and palms are from this dagger as he uses his own blood to raise the dead. The blade is five inches long and is gold-plated while the handle resembles a hematite mineral. Daguerre keeps it tucked in his pants and hidden underneath his shirt.

Powers/Techniques/Abilities:
QUOTE
Name: Resurrection
Description: Through the use of blood, whether his own or another’s, Daguerre is able to bring life to the dead. Also, Daguerre has the ability to replace souls. If a soul is not replaced within the dead body, it will become a pawn to Daguerre and will do whatever he bids it to do.
Strengths: Daguerre doesn’t ever have to lift a finger in a battle if he chooses. If he brings a corpse to his side, it can do all his fighting for him or even be his shield, made entirely of flesh and bone. Not to mention, people are willing to pay an arm and a leg to have loved ones revived from their graves.
Weaknesses: If Daguerre chooses to leave the body without its soul, the body decomposes just as it would if it were still buried, if not faster; however, leaving the body without a soul is the better of the two options. If the soul is placed within the body, Daguerre uses some of his very own life to do so, even if he doesn’t use his own blood to resurrect. Because of this, there are days where Daguerre is not up to par. He becomes very weak and appears to be living his last days.

QUOTE
Name: Enchantment
Description: Through the use of hypnosis, Daguerre is able to captivate someone, whether male or female, and trick them into believing they’re in love with him. This ability is the reason why Daguerre feeds off darker emotions. He can only use it when someone is feeling angry (preferably not at him), sad, scared, etc.
Strengths: It usually isn’t noticeable when someone is under his charm and can only be detected by picking up on the other’s behavior.
Weaknesses: This ability takes much too long to use in the heat of battle. Striking the person under the charm doesn’t break it entirely, but it does weaken Daguerre.

History: There are many stories floating around about Daguerre’s past, all of which are false. Whenever asked about his past, Daguerre makes up a story. In fact, the stories always change, even if the same person asks. Not one person or soul was told the correct story. Daguerre and his younger sister, Bijou, were born on a small island in the Jiankan area and lived a fairly normal life until Daguerre began to learn about necromancy. It consumed him and he constantly spent countless hours reading books upon books about it. He was disowned by his parents when he began practicing it and used the family cat as a sacrifice. When he left, Bijou snuck out and followed him. Despite Daguerre telling her to go back home, his sister remained by his side. Daguerre, now fifteen, and Bijou, twelve, did what most young kids thought about doing and joined a traveling performance group; however, it wasn’t an ordinary group. The group was a freak show that preyed on people’s fears. Daguerre and Bijou were quickly welcomed within the group just so long as Daguerre agreed to use his necromancy skill to perform with them. They met many different kinds of people there and were even taught various skills. Daguerre learned a few easy-to-perform illusions while Bijou took up dancing and soon combined it with fire. They remained with the group for the next five years until they disbanded. Daguerre and his sister remained together until Daguerre discovered he could earn loads of money by raising the dead. Bijou frowned upon such a thing and claimed that it was time for him to find a real profession. After their quarrel, they went their separate ways and haven’t seen each other since.

Another five years passed and Daguerre, twenty-five, still continued to raise the dead for pay. He worked underground, until he realized how much money he was missing out on. Immediately, he set up shop in the Jiankan market. Shortly after making himself known to the public, he witnessed a girl who looked much like his sister dancing in Bachgardd. The girl denied his accusations of being his sister but he took no heed as he led himself to believe she’d forgotten who he was since she was so upset with him when they’d last seen each other. Daguerre brought her back to his shop and kept her there against her will until she admitted to being his sister. It wasn’t until she finally broke down and said that she was his sister when he finally realized that she actually wasn’t. Instead of letting her go, he sent a ransom letter to her family, stating that she had been kidnapped and that they pay a large sum to get her back. After learning that her parents refused to pay such a price to redeem their daughter, Daguerre decided to let her do as she willed. She no longer wished to be with her family after learning such a thing and remained with Daguerre. Of course, he couldn’t help but feel bad (even if he did deny it) for causing such a mess that he let her stay with him just so long as she helped him out. Today, Loralie remains Daguerre’s loyal assistant and even goes out to earn money by dancing. Aside from raising the dead, Daguerre occasionally disguises himself and performs illusions on the streets of Jiankan, just to satisfy his lust for fear.

Name: Loralie Rosenthal

Age: 17

Sex: Female

Eye color: Grayish-green

Hair color: Blonde

Height: 5’3”

Weight: 103

Race: Human

Occupation: Assistant to Daguerre; Dancer

Appearance: Loralie attempts to look older then she actually is. Save for her red lipstick, her makeup is usually done lightly so that it’s hard to tell she’s wearing any at all. Her ash blonde hair reaches to her shoulders, which leaves a lot of her lightly tanned back and chest exposed. The dresses she usually garbs herself in expose quite an amount of cleavage and are tight around her waist and hips. She likes to keep her arms free from sleeves, but will make an exception if Daguerre lets her wear his long coat. A wide belt hangs around her hips loosely and is the home to Daguerre’s sword, Quietus. The skirts of her dresses all have slits on the side, whether it be the left side or the right side. Her black, boots have three inch heels and cover up to her ankles and lace up along the inside.

Powers/Techniques/Abilities: None

History: See Daguerre’s history.
