Ok, since there's a bit of a debate taking place in the shoutbox, let me clarify it a bit more as to what the shoutbox is for and what's acceptable to post there.
Bottom line is that what's posted to the shoutbox should be no different than what's posted on the forums. What I mean by that is that you wouldn't just make a topic on the forums that simply says "I LIEK MUDKIPS" and has absolutely no point or reason behind it. The same thing goes for the shoutbox. Basically, as long as there's a reason BEHIND the post it's usually acceptable, if it's just completely random phrase or sentence just for the sake of nothing, it's deleted.
The main reason why we HAVE a shoutbox, is because it acts as an "Always Visible" sub-forum. Basically, think of it as a never-ending topic that you'd use when you want to post a message for EVERYONE on the forum to see. Because members don't have the ability to mass-email or mass-pm other members, the shoutbox is what they should use for say, if they find a major flaw with the forum that needs IMMEDIATE fixing, or if they want to promote a topic they just made, things of that sort. The shoutbox is always visible on EVERY page of the forum, just remember that when posting.
There is also a 60 post-per-hour limit on the shoutbox. What does this mean for everyone? This means that, even though the shoutbox is like a forum topic that takes 2 seconds to post in, you can't edit your posts. So check your post before making it, and if there is an error, don't make another post just to correct it, we get what you were trying to type. Basically, don't waste posts just so that you can get5 the message out quicker. Double posting and triple posting is Ok on the shoutbox BECAUSE it has a character limit and you can't edit a post. But don't take that as an excuse.
Hopefully that clears up the shoutbox rules a bit more. So please don't debate it. But also a final note, if you see the shoutbox without any new posts on it, don't think of the rules as being as strict as the forums. This set of rules is much more loose, and we'll tolerate a fair bit with the shoutbox, so just post in it, as long as it's not spam.
