Thanks to a wonderful delightful - stupendous - person - Vappa - we now have our first sneak peak to the Trigun movie coming out in 2009!!!

Trigun Movie Information

I've started a webpage that will be devoted to all of the pictures, scans, information that we gather over the months leading up to the movie's release! Whoot! Look at this information we have...it's...all in Japanese! Well - anyone out there want to try there hand at translating? Please let me know.

What I DO know is that this is "report 2" so report 1 must be out there somewhere just waiting around for us to find it... ^_~ So if anyone finds an old YKO that has the information, please let us know! I'm sure there'll be more information to come as well - and hopefully we'll be able to get these first small shots translated soon as well.

What I love about these are the storyboards since they're drawn by Nightow - and look - Milly with her stungun! I SOOOOO want to know what's going on in these scenes, looks pretty riveting already!!

What a terrific early Christmas present! Thanks Vappa!! happy.gif

I feel at such a lose for not seeing this sooner. God bless you Milly, you just made my holiday!!! Is it really a sequel, taking place ten years later? Doesn't that contradict previous updates?

This can only mean the animation quality and sound effects will be so much better than in the original 26-episode anime.. Or one hopes. If they had truly movie-quality animation on those gunfights- or the whole OVA, for that matter.... I'd run to the rooftop and sing!!! XD Seriously! This makes me so happy!!! I really really hope they use original voice acting cast for Japanese and English... *crosses fingers* Both of Vash's voices were fantastic, as was Wolfwood's and the insurance girls. And next October?? Not bad. Not bad at all. I can wait. *twiddles thumbs and whistles*

I do now. My best friend knows a guy who is fluent in Japanese and he kindly, (shedding tears for the generosity of this person) translated those scans that Milly posted on her site. The translation is a little rough but this is what I've got:

Page 1
We were given special permission to see the part of the story board for the movie.
There, unlike the previous TV size(3:4), we saw a rough draft that takes a wider and bigger screen into account. From Milly’s stungun to even the smallest bullets were drawn into this story board. Many fans are sure to be excited by just this,
[trigun]’s appeal.
“Trigun” 2 volumes, and “Trigun maxim” 14 volumes, as an original manga became 2 seasons of a TV anime. But this time it’s a movie. Despite the screen being bigger, the show time is limited.
As an anime made from a manga, they need to simplify the story to make it fit into one movie. If the producers asks for too much in that short amount of time, not only the story but even the characters and their appeal will be lost. But Nishimura is not worried.
When one is asked “what is “Trigun””. There are many different answers. “…as if one is staring at a ball of all “Trigun”’s appeal from many different directions… where anyone and everyone can enjoy, that’s what I hope to make.” Said Nishimura.
Summer of 09, a “Trigun” played on the screen will be equally enjoyable to people like us, who’ve read all the manga and seen all of the anime, as well as people who don’t know Trigun so well.

Page 2
When the season was turning from fall to winter, our reporters were able to visit Madhouse(production co). There, we were able to interview Director Nishimura about the reason as to why this project became a movie.
Why a Movie?
After directing the TV series 10 years ago, Director Nishimura wanted to do more. But due to schedule and budget issues along with the limitation of TV, it did not make it to the TV series. But now, with director Nishimura, not limited by anything, is drawing the storyboard. He is still in process of finishing the storyboard, but Nightow, (also interviewed) said “there is action never seen before." Not only the action but as an overall piece. The “enjoyment” director Nishimura hoped for has, as a result brought stronger entertainment to the movie.
Not only the director but also the staff members’ goal to produce an entertaining piece has made everyone believe that they will make the “best “Trigun” movie”.
But trying to achieve this goal has made our schedule very packed (smile).

I read on Anime News Network, or some other place, that the movie in not going to be canon to the manga or the anime, but will concentrate on Vash and Wolfwood, possibly fighting.

Thought I might gives a heads up and check if it might be true to any of you guys.

I think that Wolfwood VS Vash thing comes from the tiny reference on a slip cover of Trigun Maximum #14 when it came out in Japan. Since then we've seen some storyboard sketches that show Milly Thompson...which probably means that at least those characters will be there even if the story itself doesn't fit with the rest of either of the anime/manga series.

We'll probably know more information about the movie following Anime Expo in Los Angeles in a few weeks - anyone else going besides those of you who've contacted me, make sure you take notes! I'd love to be the first forum with the information about the movie - let's make it happen! *GRINS*

So beautiful. I just cried all over my computer. The animation is superb, you can tell they worked 4 years on it.

Oooh I'm so excited!!

I was away this weekend so I just got around to getting up all the links and embedding the video and all of that jazz...but oh gosh I'm so excited!!!!

Thanks first to everyone who emailed me (although I was in the process of getting it all updated on my site before I got the emails - hee hee) and all of the people who have posted on here so far as well! happy.gif

This trailer just makes my mind go a million miles an hour. It was kind of interesting some of the comments about the trailer - some people who like Trigun, some who don't, some who will see it even though it's obviously got nothing about the manga in it - and yet there are subtle changes from the original anime and this movie. Will it be really different from the anime, like looking a bit closer to the original art style of the manga? Or will it be more of a combination - and what's with the Vash VS Wolfwood thing...is it against this new bad guy or will it be over a woman? *GRINS*

I'm just a bit annoyed they've got Meryl clutching her head so much in this, it's like...what the heck? Is Meryl the comedy relief? Poor Meryl. Heh heh. I'm still looking forward to it, whatever may come I'm sure I'll be happy. happy.gif

"The Robber of the century versus the legendary Bell team" ???

I hope with legendary Bell team they mean some team with Gung Ho Gun-like characters.

The Gung Ho Guns too me are what makes me enjoy Trigun.

Heh heh - it does sort of sound like 'bell team' doesn't it? ^_~ I have to say I love listening to the Japanese guy speaking in Engrish...it makes this commerical all the more fun to listen to!

That guy - he looks a whole lot like Gazelle the Peacemaker...but then again, that's just me. Not enough like him though - but it would have been really fun if it WERE him just the same!
