I was bored last night and put in the first episode of Trigun again. I've always loved the fact that here's Vash, minding his own business, when everything sort of just HAPPENS to him - the loose Ruth and other gangs all show up to blow him to bits and here he is, just minding his own business. I've always wondered what Vash was thinking in this first episode when those two outlaw types were sitting behind him just talking about him. Was he listening? Was he so deep in thought while drinking his whiskey that he didn't even notice? What actually happened in this "Dankin Town" that they mention?

I've also always wondered about why the animators of Trigun decided to start the series at this point instead of where the manga starts. If you remember, it's actually episode 5 where the story lines up with the manga for a short time - so what's the reason I wonder? Hmmm... Things like these wonderments always make me want to write a fanfiction just to idly guess. I've always wanted to translate the interviews in the back of the Trigun Art Book in order to find out more - too bad no one has ever gone that far, I've always wanted to read more about the series - at least if there was anything more hidden in those pages in Japanese that would give us a better feel of what the animators were thinking!

Those are interesting questions to think about. Hmmmmm. I'll have to watch the first epi, and find out for myself. That would make an interesting and fun fanfic.

I was just watching through Trigun again with a friend of mine and a discussion came up. After seeing it for the first time, the most unsettling thing for my friend was the whole Milly-Wolfwood thing. He was convinced that Wolfwood took advantage of the her. Him being a hardened gunmen and her being a naive insurance girl. My impression was always that emotions are what Milly understands best and that their relations were completely consensual (no seduction involved). In addition, from the this perspective, she was well aware what she was doing and she took their relationship seriously. She understood what Wolfwood needed and he felt comforted. The other theory I had was that she took his jokes about having kids seriously and their shared love for children brought about the event. Either way, unlike my friend, I always feel as if that event in episode 23 was completely natural. The characters were just showing a rarer side of themselves. Okay, (sighing after a exhausting post) what do you guys think?

Ah! Somehow I missed that this topic was updated (sorry Nash!) But now that you've got a very interesting topic (ie. anything to do with Milly and Wolfwood *GRINS*) let's see if we can't kick it into gear again, shall we?

Well, I definitely don't think that Wolfwood took advantage of her - seeing as though he was in this state of depression, and being the kind of guy he is, I really doubt he would have just ripped off all of her clothes and made her do anything like that. Besides the fact, knowing Milly, if he HAD tried to do that, she would have gotten shocked, pulled out the stungun and POW!!!

So, I'm pretty sure you're right about the situation being consentual between both parties. Wolfwood was in a tough spot, understandably so, and had sort of separated himself from the rest of the group since he killed - and even though it was something he felt he HAD to do, his original belief system was called into question with Vash. So perhaps he took Milly to bed for the main reason that he needed some kind of comfort in his life.

Milly, on the other hand, has had this soft spot for Wolfwood and also this need to have peace between all of the people in her life. She's troubled by Vash's troubles and troubled when Wolfwood has sequestered himself - and she's also troubled by the fact that he killed someone - but in the same situation, was it something she would have done as well? Perhaps, given that she had a gun in her hand and not a stun-gun. Impulse is a hard thing to stop. And...of course once the ball got rolling, I think both of them probably had some need for comfort, and the natural thing just happened between them. It was probably growing for some time, what with him calling her "Honey" during that earlier incident - and probably grew stronger as they spent more and more time together.

Now... I'm going to throw this out there since neither Nash nor your friend happened to bring it up. But I've also considered that they DIDN'T do anything that night. Okay - yes, it's implied of course since she's sleeping and Wolfwood is shirtless and smoking (but then again he's always smoking and most anime characters - hot ones anyway - need to have one shirtless scene!) But what if they simply comforted each other's tears and eventually Milly fell asleep and Wolfwood, feeling a bit better after expending some of that pent up energy just got up and took off his shirt because it was wet with tears? Well...yeah - I don't want to think of it that way either, but the whole scene is open to interpretation, so I thought I'd throw that out there. happy.gif

As for the children thing...I really doubt Milly and Wolfwood would have sex together with that in mind. At least - not unless they were happily settled down together. Did Milly eventually have a baby? Hmmm... I'm kind of thinking not likely since it took awhile for them to fix Vash up and then dig the well and she sure wasn't slowing down! But it is a romantic idea to think that she wanted to have his baby in case he didn't make it through, that she'd raise it correctly and give it a life that he didn't have. Romantic, indeed. happy.gif
