It's time this thing came back from the annals of the dead to delightful, radiant life! Here, Ricki, is my Trigun Dark Vash fanfic. I prolly dun mention Dark Vash very much in here, but trust me, he's there, and he's dark and bitter as ever!

I'm gonna give you a brief summary of the story. I may not be short, due to the fact that I usually like to include dinky details, but it's all important to me, so if it seems like I'm ramblin' too much, uuuuuuhh, sawwy. XP Well, here it is. Enjoy!

==============================================================

Hokay, the story is based after the incident at Jeneora Rock, and in the general, unspecific time period of TM #s 2 and 3. In any case, we have our group, consisting of Vash, Milly, and Niconi. Meryl is not there. She has, unfortunately, passed away. The remaining members of said group are seeking to stop Knives from destroying humanity. Same basic story of the real manga in that sense. Enter Eline Rygr. She is a plant just like Vash and Knives are. She was there duting the Great Fall. She was taken from her plant bulb, very much the same as Vash and Knives were, except she was adopted by a pair of very smart, very upstanding doctors, Mr. and Mrs. Rygr (rhymes with "tiger"). She and they survived the great fall, and made a home for themselves on Gunsmoke. Because of the danger that was posed to her by the great fall, the Rygrs put her in cold sleep. Generations of doctors of that family watched over and took care of her while she hybernated. Finally, two generations before the story actually starts, they woke her up. She was completely amnisiac, and didn't remember that she was a plant. The Rygrs raised her as a human would be raised, and thus she considered herself human.

She belonged (key word: belonged) to a rich family and at one time was happy. That was until her sweet mother, who she was very much attatched to and close with, was shot and killed in her sleep. Eline thought her killer was Vash the Stampede. Her father was also involved. So now she has the biggest vendetta against the humanoid typhoon, and goes all over the planet hunting him down, seeking to take his life and bring justice to her murdered mother. Now, as an important note, her mother was privy to Knives' secret plans of destruction. If Eline's mother were to live, she would have told the Feds (not that that would have mattered much, it's Knives, c'mon!), and humanity would have fought against Knives. Wanting to remain in secret, Knives had Eline's mother murdered. Eline's father had secretly joined forces with Knives, due to his (Knives' persuasiveness, being the owner of a shipyard, thus able to give supplies to the diabolical twin of Vash. The murderer of Eline's mother was a hitwoman who was hired by Eline's father to do the dirty business.

Anyway, Eline finds Vash, and seeks to kill him, but finds out she can't. Enter Viola. She is a well known criminal on Gunsmoke, and has a high reputation for killing. She has earned her name as "The Slayer." She possesses a lostechnology laser rifle. She joins the crew--Vash, Wolfwood, Milly--after saving them from angry sandworms. Anyway, after several attempts to try and get him, she folds, and joins with Knives herself, thinking that going in as a Gung Ho Gun, she will be able to fight Vash and hopefully kill him. She is, of course, beat. During her time as a Gung Ho Gun, she finds out about Knives' plans, and also finds out that her father works for Knives. She then deserts him, and flees. She reconciles herself to Vash, and he snd she start to fall in love after that. So now that they're together, her and Vash, they are one heck of a gunnin' duo, and they wreak havoc against Knives and all that he does. In the end, they are trapped by a large contingent of men led by Eline's father, and they are successful in nearly killing the two, but neither of them are dead. To Eline, however, Vash is dead. She thinks he is dead, so she loses control of herself, and something happens: her power is released. She kills every man there, including her father. She, with her newly discovered knowledge of just what she was, goes forth and 'steals' the power and energy from several plant angels, thus supplying herself with immense power, kind of like how Knives began melding with other plants to become more powerful. In her case however, there is no merging at all with the other being. Just a stealing of their very power and life force, thus killing them and making her tons more powerful. Anyway, having been a GHG, she knows the exact location of Knives' complex. She goes there with the intent of killing Knives, since she knows that it was he that killed her mother and her Vash, or so she thinks. Anyway, she goes to the complex, is confronted by both Legato and Elendira, and both are tossed aside like rag dolls. She attacks Knives, and almost wins, but all the power gets to her head, and she toys with him too much to the point where all of that borrowed energy is wasted. She then resorts impulsively to her regular innate energy, and tries once again to kill Knives, but fails when all of her hair turns black. Vash, who had been unconscious, managed to heal himself, rise, and head straight to Knives' complex, and he goes and stops Knives. Vash almost kills his brother out of rage. Knives, against his very nature, begs for mercy, to which Vash gives. For a tiime, it seems Knives is a good guy. Viola even falls in love with him. But he is just deceiving.

At the opportune moment, Knives goes into hiding, and kidnaps Eline. Now, at this point in the story, Knives' hair is dark, while Vash's is light. Eline's family, the Rygrs, were able to invent a machine that can reverse the HDE (Hair Darkening Effect). Due to that, Eline and Vash were able to restore their hair color--and their power--back to full. This machine, however, can only be used a miniscule amount of times. Eline has the knowledge of how to build one of these machines. Knives, finding out about this, kidnaps Eline, and forces her to build another machine. Knives is then healed, and he jumpstarts his plans. Vash and crew come and rescue Eline, but have to escape, because things are getting very out of hand with Knives. See, Knives has managed to rebuild an old SEEDs ship to full functionality with plants powering it to full capacity. He has been able to multiply and replenish the plant world. He has bred them for a single purpose: to help him destroy the whole of humankind on Gunsmoke. He then, like he does in the actual manga, goes around from city to city, and absorbs plants into him, making a cointegration of monumental proportions. The planets very make up is rattled and begins to warp and contort. Eline and Vash and crew must now go and stop this menace. How? Who knows at the moment. Eline and Vash opt to fight Knives head on themselves, while Wolfwood fights against Elendira, and Viola fights against Legato who has managed, like in the manga, to restore his body and work it like a puppet. Milly gets a very important job. Even though she doesn't do any of the heavy fighting, she must establish a link between Knives and a special superconductor device that the Rygrs invented long ago. It negates plant energy, and it will allow for humanity to stop him. Well, things go as they go, Eline and Vash fight for a long time, so do Wolfwood and Viola. Milly does her thing, establishes the link to the machine with Knives without him knowing, or rather, he finds out at the last minute, almost kills Milly, but Wolfwood pounds him with some good shots from his cross punisher. Anyway, Knives' power is completely negated, and he can't do anything. Rather than risk humanity another catastrophic near genocidal extermination, Eline and Vash meld both of their "angel arms" together into one "super angel arm," and they blast Knives and all of the plants who were with and for him and his cause on that huge restored SEEDs ship into oblivion. 'Course, their hair turns black again, but they can now fix that.

Please feel free to reply. Feedback would be much appreciated.

So...what happened to Meryl? From an interested reader here...I love the details! Does Vash ever like her before whatever it is happens or is there never any spark to make way for our new heroine? happy.gif I like how you're adding in details from the end of the series - I'm a big fan of alternate universes - well, obviously from the stuff I post. ^_~

Anyone else interested in reading this story?? There's a surprise coming.... *GRINS*

Well, before this story actually started, there was an initial grand fight between to the two plant brothers, and Meryl and Milly were, of course, there. Well, the two brothers were releasing their energies to near incalculable levels, and it was evident that Knives was going to overpower and kill Vash. They would have killed each other anyway, but nonetheless, Knives had the upper hand. Meryl, realizing that Vash was going to lose, and wanting all the fighting between the two brothers to stop, made a desperate, and drastic decision, totally against her nature. Just as Vash and his twin were about to release their terrible powers, she rushed between the two and cried out desperately for them to stop. They did not. Vash only realized at the last moment that she was even there, then his energy released, and so did Knives'. Knives didn't care either way. She was a human. Her death would only further his cause of eden further along. Meryl, poor, sweet li'l Meryl, was caught up in that blast, and was killed. To answer your second question, yes, Vash liked her, and has hated himself since that time for being a part of the cause of her death. You may not think it's his fault, but in truth, he feels it is. That is just something you'll have to find out about as you read my story. Thus, enter Eline Rygr. Anymore questions? I have answers.

Oh, and by the way, we should be seeing uploads of the chapters on MillyT's website starting in December. (The reason for that is because I'm at B.Y.U.-Idaho, and I didn't think to bring the hard copies with me. They're back at my home in CA. I'll be able to get 'em uploaded in December for winter break though.) I'm very excited for this. Ever since reading "B&G", I've always thought, "it would be so cool to join this Trigun community, and be able to share what I love about Trigun with all of these other otakus!" So this is pretty shweet!
