Adeline takes her first few steps into Zephyr Town and takes a deep breath. "We've finally made it." She whispered to her sleeping Skitty. Her trusty Nidoran had passed out long ago and now Dolly was keeping watch for her. Or sleeping on her shoulder. The first place Adeline walked to was the Pokemon Center. She was extremely tired and wanted nothing more than to lie on a bed and fall asleep.

"Hello?" She called drowsily. "May I have my room healed and my pokemon rented for the night?"

"Why of course." The nurse takes your pokemon and goes with a blissy into the back room. You look around and see someone running around the center in a weird fasion. "Oh no their gonna kill me when they've found out what I've done!!!!!"

Adeline sighed. She was tired and sleepy, but it looked like she wouldn't be getting any rest with this lunatic running around. "Excuse me," She sleepily walked over to the person. "If you don't mind me asking, what did you do and who is going to kill you?"

[Snattle]

The young boy who had been running in circles suddenly stopped, looking at you tearfully.
"M-My Chatot!" the boy said, his voice quavering. "Well...no...not really, but that's the thing! My big sister has a Chatot that she loves a lot...and she told me to watch it while she went to the Day-Care Center for something. S-So I was in the Trainer's Square and this weird l-looking guy comes up and asks for a battle. A-And..." he took a deep gulping breath. "B-before I knew it, I l-lost and they took my C-Chatot away!"

(Yes! I'm officially off of my "RPGs aren't fun anymore" break. )

"Excuse me?" Adeline's face changed at the news. All the tiredness had left her eyes and were replaced with great interest. "So you were in the Trainer's Square right? What did this guy look like? I would like you to lead me there once Nurse Joy gives me back my pokemon and they've had enough rest."

[Meral]

The boy started crying more. "B-but it's ur-urgent! Th-they c-could by a-anywhere b-by now! Y-you have t-to come w-with me n-now!" he stammered, blinking back tears. "Please!" After that, he broke down crying.

Nurse Joy came around the corner with your Poké Balls, handed you the tray and left. She didn't seem to notice he was crying, or that practically everyone else in the Pokémon Centre was looking and watching. This was a very nonchalant Nurse Joy.

"Thank you, Nurse Joy." Adeline sighed and blushed at everybody staring at the scene the boy was making. "They're tears of joy! Don't worry everyone! This orphan's parents have come to see him and he's crying tears of joy! Haha!" Adeline attempted to bluff. She then attempted to lead the boy outside. "Ok, ok, I have my pokeballs! Please stop crying." She whispered to the boy. "We can go now."

[Meral]

"O....k-k," his crying died down, and he wiped the tears from his eyes. "It was in the north part of Trainer Square--the part closest to the gym." His words seemed to tumble out of his mouth, but he was perfectly understandable.

"Alright thank you." Adeline nodded to the boy. "I'll go there now. I would rather you stay here and rest inside the pokemon center. I'll go look for the guy who took your chatot." She let out her Nidoran and started to walk to the spot where the boy mentioned. "Iris how are you feeling?" She lightly tickled the top of her pokemon's head. "Can you find anything out of the ordinary here?"

[Meral]

The boy watched you go. Once you were out of eyesight, he pulled out a walkie-talkie and said, "Phase one complete. Commence phase two of plan."

Iris shook its head. It could not detect any unusual presence of any sort.

"Hmm..." Adeline put on her "thinking pose" and let Iris climb back on her lap as she sat down. "No scent? Pieces of clothing? Any signs of a battle? Chatot feathers? That's weird." Adeline pet her pokemon on the head. "Maybe we should go back to the pokemon center and call Officer Jenny. This couldn't have happened recently." She cuddled Iris in her arms and walked back to the Pokemon Center.

Snattle could do this so much better than I could.

Several people were gossiping in groupsabout various things--typical teen behavior. All five phones were occupied, so you would just half to wait for one. The little boy was sitting on a bench, still crying, wondering what had become of his poor Chatot, if it was okay, if it was hungry, and most importantly, if you had found anyhting.

"Sorry, we couldn't find anything." Adeline lowered her head. "Iris is the best scent tracker around. How long ago was your Chatot taken?" Iris' nose twitched as she tried to find anything suspicious about the surrounding.

[Snattle]

"I-I don't know! I c-can't tell time!" the boy wailed, kinda missing the point. But he seemed too distressed to have given a proper response anyway.

Iris suddenly perked up however, her ears twitching perceptively and her large eyes wide in concentration. With a tug at your pant-leg, she took off towards a rather secluded part of the town, beckoning that you follow her.

"Boy! You are going to have to stay calm if you want me to-" Adeline started off, getting very annoyed until she saw her pokemon tugging at on her legs. "Excuse me for a sec." She held up a finger to the boy's face and ran after Iris. "Lead the way love!" She whispered, somewhat relieved to get away from the wailing boy.

[Snattle]

Nidoran continued to lead you, looking eager, until you reached a rather dimly lit section of the town behind a ratty old shop that looked like it had been out of business for ages. Nidoran stopped for a moment, sniffing the air curiously. Its ears quivered, although its expression had changed from one of delight to a guarded one. With a sudden jump, she suddenly bounded over to you, standing protectively in front of you.

"What? That's it? Here I was expecting something a bit more fierce looking, y'know?"

Nidoran let out a low growl as she glared at a man standing atop a tower of garbage bins. He was wearing a bandana over his head, a pair of slick-looking sunglasses over his face, and a large overcoat. It was a rather strange, rag-tag combination.

"Ah well, never judge a Pokemon by its cover," he said with a slow drawl. "This may be a treat after all." Suddenly, you became aware that he was holding a small cage in one hand, swinging it nonchalantly, causing the Pokemon inside to croon softly, almost tearfully.

Well, the boy had been right about something. For the Pokemon trapped inside the cage was indeed a Chatot.

Adeline scoffed, "Thanks for not judging." She sniffed arrogantly. "I was expecting a more fearsome foe as well, but I will not judge you by your cover either." Iris squeaked, her head held high, imitating her trainer. "Well, you know what I want right?" Adeline smiled with the fire of competition in her eyes. "I want that Chatot back. Are you gonna hand it over or are you willing to put up a fight?"

[Meral]

The first one grinned, showing his teeth. "Sorry lady, but we're not at liberty to keep your birdy friend here at liberty. Unless you wanna make us? Koffing, use smokescreen!" The man threw out the Poke Ball, and in a split second the air had turned black. It was easy for Iris to breath, being so tall, but you had to crouch down out of a natural reaction.

Adeline bent down to avoid breathing the black smoke and whispered to her Nidoran. "All right Iris, start off with Growl and run away from the spot where you Growled. Find a new spot and Growl again and keep repeating the process. I'm hoping that the Koffing is as dumb as it looks so try to confuse it into thinking you're in many different places." She winked after getting a nod from Iris and waited for the smoke to clear up.

However, your attempts were in vain - Chatot and the theifs were gone. Fortunatly, however, they were stupid enough to have left something behind. What was that something? It was a pager, more specifically an extremly useful tool that would allow you to eavesdrop on any conversation the group was having. Iris ran up to you, sniffled the device and sat down on the ground. Her wiskers were twitching, but the device smelled like city, not like a certain person.

"Of all the low and dirty tricks!" Adeline hissed. She quickly forgot her anger and looked at the device they dropped. "So what is it and how does it work?" She bent down to examine it with her pokemon. "It looks useful. We should keep it for later." Adeline picked up the device and put it in her bag. "So, can we figure out which direction they went?"

[Meral]

Iris nodded and started running off to the left. She was a pretty fast runner, and soon she oicked up on a stronger scent, which she showed you by eagerly hopping up and down, wiskers flopping. The ground was typical city ground; dirty, unsanitary, and had piles of sludge as if thousands of Grimer lived in the sewers.

"Eww, nasty." Adeline sighed as she followed her pokemon. "We're both taking a serious shower once we get back to the Pokemon Center." Despite her complaining, she still followed Iris where her nose led her. "How do you pick up scents in this filth?" Adeline sighed and kept following her.

Iris kept runnig until she was on the sidewalk. People walked around her and mothers pushed their daughters who tried to pet her while you caught up. Iris was looking around and wondering where they went, confused. Logic suddenly dictated that their car was parked here, and they drove off.

Adeline gave a frustrated sigh. "Good job Iris! That was a great effort and now I'm sure we're close to storming that guy's hideout!" She picked up her pokemon and looked around for someone who might have seen the car. "Hello? Did anyone see a thug and a Chatot? That man stole that Chatot and I think he drove away! Did anyone see where they went?"
