| 01.05.07Michi A recent spurt of inactivity has come over Memoirs; I sincerely apologize for this, but I have been busy with things in real life. Anyways, it was only for three days, so no worries! I'm setting up a new layout, which should be up with-in a day; this one's too dark for my tastes. Don't worry, though; if I can't make a decent lookin' layout/skin, I'll just leave this one up! ;] 01.01.07Michi HAPPY NEW YEAR! Anyways, I put a new table up; it takes up less space. In other news, I made two new threads for other updates and the weather: they can be found here and here. A new plot is in the works, so bear with us! Not only that, but there are Moderator Try-outs (which can be found here); also, if you're interested in helping out with our new Awards System (which will be coming soon!), please PM me. |

As the snow melted away to show the new sprigs of green grass, he was here. Malachai Manio had been here for over a year now and still, not one other wolf was here. In exception, Malachai's son, Zano Manio, was also here. But Malachai could only stand a young pup so long...
Malachai had finally let Zano wander about on his own. Reaching the rightful age of Two springs, Zano now could hunt and go where he pleased. He had learned everything from Malachai; both good and bad traits. Zano could even take down a three by three buck by himself. Zano was at his adult stature now, full chested and his fur long and protecting. Malachai now wondered where Zano had gone off to. It was very unlike him to be gone before dawn until after dusk...Surely he was alright? Malachai was worried now. Rising to his long pillars, he threw back his maw and sang the song of worry, of wanting Zano back. Malachai perked his dark charcoal ears to listen, but the only sound were the crickets and the forest moving with life. Malachai threw back his head once more, ready to howl, when the reply came. Long and appologetic, Zano's call was from that of the woods. His song told Malachai that he would stay here from now on and not return to the fields where Malachai slept. Malachai howled back, his song approving and long... Malachai had laid in this grass for a year and a few months...He had come here in the spring of his fifth year. And now, after the passing month, he grew to the age of Six, far lucky for a wolf in the wild. Malachai now laid here, looking at the stars. It would be awhile before Lokoias would rise, spreading her silver glow over all wolven and creatures alike. Malachai's howl was that of pain, loneliness, and wanting. An urge he wanted so bad, had not been filled for over a year. The sight, smell, sound of another wolf had not graced these lands Malachai had claimed. Not even in the winter months, when the herds stayed in the forest and never left. Malachai's howl ended as he stood, trotting up his favorite hill to watch over the lands...And to pray for another wolf to come about him. |

The wolf had barely finished his howl and lowered his visage when the wolf spoke. Malachai's head spun. 'Is she real?' Malachai thought silently to himself as he peered out at the vixen. Malachai bowed his muzzle once, getting ready to speak. "Indeed, young one, you are correct. I am the leader of this small pack. My name is Malachai Manio." Malachai looked at his lands, a happiness taking over his bodice as he realized that this might have a fighting chance.
"Miss, if you are interested in joining this pack you will be required to complete...a challenge, if you will. This tests your endurance and to see if you are worthy of my pack. If you do not wish to join my pack or abide by this law I have set, then please turn around and show yourself off my lands." Malachai's tone was stern, but he couldn't help his tone that help happiness, hope. Malachai sat down, his dark tail curing around his surly form. His eyes looked black with the night, peering out at the forest; not at the female. He did not turn to her, hopeing she would accept his challenge and she could join. He could tell from the way she acted that she was to be a good asset to this pack...She also seemed to be young, but somewhat wise for her years. Out under the moonlit forest, a single howl rang out from Zano. His howl was the killing howl, one that he had sung not very long ago. From what Malachai could tell, Zano was by the grove of pines. That was where the whitetail rested and grazed. Malachai let out a sharp bark, echoing over the treetops and into the star studded sky. |

Malachai turned to the female now, his eyes narrrowing. He watched the female as she spoke, a certain distaste falling into his mouth. "It is simple...Kill the largest buck of my herd of Mule Deer." Malachai stood now, his head turning back to the forest. "If you have successifuly killed the buck before dawn you are allowed to join my pack, Miss Siliora. If not, there is a chance that I will allow you in." He stopped, turning back to Siliora. "Do you wish to do this challenge?"
Malachai looked at the female once more, noting her odd eyes. He simply lifted his nose to the soft summer breeze, taking in the scents from the forest. 'She can obivously kill the old male...Unless Zano took him down first. Or, if Zano finds her....Well, who knows what he would do to her.' Malachai thought silently to himself as he waited for the female to decide. |

Malachai watched the female as she appeared to be in deep thought. For a moment, Malachai could have seen a deepening in her eyes, something that said she wasn't alright... Buit by the time Malachai had blinked a few times, it was gone. The leader was almost in a trance before the female spoke, being drug back to sole reality as her voice filled his ears.
Malachai contemplated her words, wondering if Zano would still be in the forest, near the deer herd. "I will arrange for you to meet with my son, Zano. He will show you the deer herd and probably help you." Malachai had the hint of a grin on his onyx lips as he continued, "There are conditions in which you must kill this deer. You must howl for me once you've killed the buck. After I have been to the killsite and have approved the deer, then you may eat your kill. DO you abide by these rules?" Malachai didn't wait for the female to respond. "Go now. Go into the forest, and when you hear my call Zano will call back. And then you may howl or find Zano on your own. Unless you wish for me to call Zano here to lead you into the forest?" Malachai looked at the female, illuminated in silve from the moon porus light. |

((Oh. My posts look sooo drab. I will go cry in a corner...An' eat gummy worms. No, JK, I will go find an effective guide for 'tables'...Cuz that's what a cooooool person would do. Sunglasses, limos, yay.))
The sun had slipped past the uneven horizon, sleepy and bewildered, his royal aim only to send the, sometimes welcome, whip of summer to some waiting, cold place on the globe. The stars were barely recognizable, out shone by the stray light, lingering, caught in the gloomy clouds. But the stars took no bother. In a few moments, when their moon would begin the slow path to her humble zenith atop the heavens, the star's with their furiously burning light, competition lost, would show as bright as tears on the obsidian slopes of some far away volcanic sleeper. The forest below had leaked free of light long ago, the leaves upon the floor never saw much from their seats under the thick canopy of green. Shadows found their homes here, never bothering to sway with the sun's continuous migration, rather sleeping, the lazy ones at least. The thick foliage under foot, mossy and soft, lay a velvet carpet for those making a perilous journey through strange lands, or those few residents, wandering about their own home. To the north on the mountains, below the timber line, was where the forest started- where the tallest of the thin giants stood, subject to the forever watching batholiths of stone and sand. And to the south, a small river cut through, yet still a small seed had made the journey past the raging currents, and strangling weeds, and now the river was merely a part of the forest, a simple addition to the woody gathering. And on the east and west, the forest spread as far as the eye could see, probably thinning out to a small field, maybe near the ocean, or even to the mighty river that all had heard of once in their childhood days. The eeking cry of an eagle harped throughout the countryside. The deep-bellied croak of a gluttonous bullfrog slid out from the marsh. And the stars, light and jubilant, danced with the Moon on her onyx courtyard, faces hidden behind the brilliant white masks. But beneath the heavens, past the years of distance, and the folds of light, a single. Twig. Broke. "Damn" The short-sighted, and obviously dreamy, field mouse skittered frighteningly fast, alerted by the untimely 'crack' down its hollow hole below the earth. The figure, bathed in the white milky light, stuffed her paw inside and wiggled her sharp claws. "Now come here, you. I just want a nice snack..." Came the unusually toned voice. "Oh dear" Came a high-pitched voice. "Now that wouldn't do." And with that, the clever mouse sneaked behind the wiggling claws of death, cleared a small space behind the paw, and gave the hunter a sharp bite. "YEOW!", came the, now not so toned scream, as the creature, a wolf, pulled her long paw out of the hollow angrily. "Darn mice, always have something to say about my choice of food..." The mouse just laughed, rather loudly now that it was safe, and scurried through the unkept hole. The bitch, for it was a female you see, licked her paw tenderly, and shot a angry glance at the hole. "You squirmy mice don't taste good at all anyway!", she retorted, her voice uncouth and free of its once calm tone. She limped rather pathetically to the nearest tree, and sat at its base, her crimson eyes staring at the heavens. She turned to face the hard bark, and withdrew her claws menacingly. "Laugh at me, why don't you, tree! Face the wrath of your Queen!" She climbed in a rather feline-like manner up the stout trunk, her body convulsing terribly for you see, she was not built for such a task, no, not at all. But she somehow managed, and sat all stretched out in the lowest branch, less of a drop to the floor, 3 paws holding tight for dear life, and the, ahem, injured, swinging precariously to and fro. Releasing a revealing sigh, and staring out at the stars, she smiled, in a very wolfish manner, much like you would smile in a human-ish manner. It was somewhat comforting to think that the same stars were being watched by her family, some hundreds of miles away. Her family. The 2 betas in a fairly large pack, who gave their 3rd born of their first litter away to the alpha's, merely because she was different. And she was. Lean and thin, yet her belly nicely rounded, with high rising cheekbones, and a furry, innocently broken smile, she looked much like any wolf of her heritage would. Yet it was her coloring, it always was. Her crimson pupils, narrow almost all the time, floating in her nice pink irises. She couldn't stand the heat of day nor the blinding sun, and preferred the cool night, her natural defenses lacking greatly. And so, the few days when she wandered out with her pack, she was tranquilized. ***** "John, 2107, suspected Arctic Wolf introduced. ", The static filled frequency boomed. "Requesting permission to shoot and tag" An Arctic wolf, larger, stronger, and a better hunter. If too many were introduced among their Grey companions, the hunter/prey balance that the rangers worked so hard for would be lost. "Permission granted" The helicopter flew closer and shot a stream of darts at the wolf's back. The wolf dodged, and ran for cover under the trees, but one got her. She ran, not realizing her legs were not obeying. And she collapsed. ***** "Well lookie here Louise! I think we 'ave got something different..." Louise, the human in the white suit, wavered over to the homely old man. "What is it now, Mark?" "Her eye's are red..." "Well maybe she has an infection..." "Not that kinda' red...Her eyes are clear...But her irises are red..." Mark said, lifting the wolf's eyelid carefully, and pointing. "What are you talking about!" Louise said, and looked curiously. "It is impossible for that- Oh my God!" She yelled, quieted by a look from Mark the driver, who was an avid Catholic. "Erm, sorry...I should have known! No pigment on her paws, none on her nose!" she started, gaining pace. "She is an ALBINO!" "A who-see-what?" "You know...Red eyes, all white.." "A zombie?" ***** And so the young wolf was brought to the local reservation and after a few tests to prove her albinism, which weren't needed given her eyes, she was shipped to the San Diego Zoo, the largest of its kind, where she stayed for almost a year, in and out of the public eye. Once, she even saw a flat leaf, with squiggles on it, and a picture, that resembled herself perfectly. ***** "She is one of the most beautiful wolf's I've ever see. She acts like a darling, even around humans-" "But she doesn't act like a wolf...." "Well, I guess, no....Not much, I mean having to share your enclosure with a endangered big cat, right next to the aviary," "But she doesn't act at all like a wolf, right?" "No...I guess she doesn't...You...Aren't gunna' take her away, right?" "I'm sorry..." ***** And with that, she left her 2nd family, a zoo keeper named Katie, a lioness named Trawl-Peteoa, and a pair of twittering fledglings. She would never eat eggs again. Oh, but she was used to it. Losing her family. At least false hope was never there. ***** The diamond studded sky twinkled, as the wolf swung down in a Orang-Utan like way. Oh, the Orang-utans were fine, it was the monkeys that eventually got to you. She padded away, kicking a petty cloud of dust at the mouse's burrow, and sulked away into the forest. She was nearing a clearing, obviously, as the trees became evenly spaced, instead of the tangle of branches she was leaving. A chorus of barks and yips slowly translated in her mind... 'Challenge, Manio, young one, Siloria- which the wolfess thought was an awful name, in her opinion, 'deer, kill.' The stealthy creature could not help but give a small laugh. If this, 'Old one', as the female had named, had asked the bitch to kill the largest buck to join the pack, she might as well wait for other's to come, until all she had to do was kill the fawn. Hopefully the old male was smarter. Hopefully. But anyway, why would she want to join the pack. Losers and lames, she presumed. She twisted up the nearest tree, maple, sturdy wood, and slithered towards the branch overlooking the small gathering. She cocked her head, branches blocking her view. Well. A geezer an' a pup. Wouldn't want to join this lowly brigade, of sorts, oh no. But... A herd of deer. Make off with the new born, bury the contents somewhere safe. The wolf, Tareva Chine, known only as 'Tar' to sorts like you, had a bad case of indecision. She flipped herself upside down, like a nursing 'possum-if you have ever seen a wolf flip over, you would know I wouldn't waste my time trying to explain. Simply has to be seen. Anyways Tar flipped over; any self respecting tree-climbing wolf knows this is the best way to solve a problem, yet nothing came. The upside down female ran off, leaving the upside down male sitting upside down, and both of them smiling, or maybe frowning, it was hard to tell in Tar's current position, but either way, the, alpha was it, seemed well fed... She, the wolf hanging the wrong way off a tree branch, took one last look at the stars, closed her eyes, and let go. THUD She fluttered her eyes dramatically, and twitched on the dusty floor. "Borovil (a name she made up), don't attack, I never meant to eat your share...No, no, don't rip off my leg!" She opened one eye, checking if any were falling for her theatrics. "No...Oh, the sun is soo hot, I feel like I am burning up" she said in a falsetto voice, even though the night had already came. "I feel so hungry...I might faint..." And faint she did, rolling one eye back dramatically, the other circling a point in the sky, before her lids slammed shut, left leg shivering, and her mouth open just enough for her tounge to flop out deceivingly. Well. Now all she could do was wait. |

Sorry its short. I'm at school on one of the laptops. I'm not supposed to be on. The ebon mascu stealithy walked, his paws making not hardly a sound. His stomach was stretched full and his maw had the faint scent of blood. As he walked along his eyes peered up, taking in the sights of the canopy. A few lazy bats fluttered around as he watched, but what made him sad was to see that the sky was turning a lighter blue. The morning was approaching. Malachai was intent on finding his spot in the grass to finally go to sleep, but he caught the scent of a wolf; other than that of Medea and Zano. Malachai's heart was now pounding, his brain sending signals to run to his tired feet. Although, he contained the urge and trotted to the basis of the scent. On the ground beneath a small tree lay a beraggled form of a female. A white female. Malachai felt a longing for the arctic wisk around him, making a certain sadness fill him. He shook off the feeling, looking at the female oddly. He stepped from his refuge from the trees to her, smiling lightly as he did so. "Hello. I am Malachai, Owner of these lands."
