When RPing, it may be a good idea to start the RP off with all the information that people may need listed at the top of the first post. For example, what the rp is going to be about, ect. If anyone else has any information to share or that they think is a good idea/pointer, then please add it here happy.gif

Also the person who starts the rp has sort of rule over the rp. Meaning if they do not like how a post is going or how the rp is moving they can PM one of the Admin's or mods and discuss it. Unless that person feels they can arrange it with the other members involved to re-do what is needed to make it run more to the starters specifications.

That doesn't quite mean you can order everyone about. That wouldn't be role playing. If you already know so much about where you want to go with the story, make it a fanfic, not an RP.

I agree with Xic. The only thing that the creator of the RP has power over is the intial setting and characters of the story. If the creator wants the RP to go in a specific direction then this needs to be discussed out of the RP. Giving too much power to the creator will reduce the creativity of the individual RPers and reduce the power of the moderators. If you want the story to go in a specific direction, then try to manipulate the other characters into going where you want them to go. This is the game, and the fun, of RPing. Don't be upset though if someone outsmarts you. ^_~ That's the name of the game.

However, I also think that individual RPers have a responsibility to not get "too" creative. Be "realistic", at least in terms of the RP itself, and don't go completely wild with someone else's storyline. This is actually sort of rude, in my opinion. There's no need to be this way either, since everyone has the ability to create a new RP.

And... I don't think I explained that very well, but there you have it.

EDIT: Actually, now that I think about this some more, the creator can put a little OOC comment in their first post saying what they DON'T want. For example, I really DON'T want vampires in the "Forsaken" fanfic. That way it's just common courtesy on behalf of the RPers to comply, instead of an actual rule.

Exactly my thought Aiko and Xic, good pointers I wish I would've thought into it more instead of leaving it at what I said before. Also if someone has not posted there character in a few days or so contact that person and see if you can either A: play out their character in a respectful way or B: work around it.
This brings up another agenda if you are going to be leaving for more then lets say 3 days please be sure to arrange it with someone to either play your character or have your character fade into the background of the role play. SO as not to totaly loose your position in that rp and when you get back please be sure to ask someone who is also involved in the rp to update you on the situation from the day you were gone till when you got back.

Another thing I would like to point out is for everyone to go over this definition of god-moding that I have been provided with. Thanks to Aiko.

God-moding

I'd find more links like that and add them here somewhere. It would be good to have a good number of links that would help members become better at RPing.

Here's a tip for ya: develop a suspension of disbelief. Don't get in a fight with someone until you've seen their concept in action, and then ask them if you still don't get it. Allow ideas to be confusing, at least until you encounter them in character.

You know, you said this before in another topic, and many people didn't take it very well. I don't think saying it here will do any good either, and will only proceed into being a nag. That annoys people.

Let me try to explain to you somethign here. When people explain something about an objects or the such and how it works, it other players an idea on how they might be able to ineract with it their own way. Let's take, for example, Tyrian's gravity ore, (POSSIBLE TYRIAN SPOILERS) from a la Tyrian 2000. The ore tends to distort gravity, or something like that, thuse forth causing whatever object it's imbued in to float instead of stay with the planets gravity. Microsol also found that this gravity ore yield a very nice potential energy and a weapon, and caused one planet's ocean to suddenly rise into the air. (SPOILER ENDED)

That might be bit of a bad example, though. A better would be the Akraidian gravity propulsion drive, where if there for uses gravity as a form of propulsion. Knowing that this technology uses gravity like wind in thesails, Akraidians can make use of asteroid belts because their propulsion systems easily compensates for the random shifts in gravity; this also provides a better playing field, since other ships would normally have a lot of trouble in asteroid fields. Oh, and it also boosts their propulsion and maneuerability.

Also, exlaining things makes it more interesting for the other RPers, thuys forht making it a fun place to RP in, and there fore making you fun to RP with. And if you can't write down some form of description, it means that you're lazy, because you don't want to put more input than the "suspension of disbelief" stuff, and come off with more plain or obvious description that's just really boring to read through.

Now, i'm not saying you're technically lazy, but in general, someone doing that kind of stuff is considered it. And we don't like lazy people, y'know.

2) It's a F@*king video game!

Don't EVER say that! EVER!

Saying that in lieu of a real argument makes you lazy, and a coward.

Yes. Yes, you did indeed.

Repitition helps though. Also, if a general people of this forums start telling you that there's a problem with you, then there's a problem, and that's you. And we don't usually like 'problems'.

I agree. That is a very sexy sentence.

CEMP wins four internets for this.
