((OOC: GASP!! Double post! Oh wait, unmoderated. I remember now. Lets get this moving again, peoples!))

"It would seem the child has the amulet."

In a dark room overlooking a distant landscape below, a voice was heard. It was young, masculine.

"Yes... the elder scryer must be made aware." The second speaker's tone was fairer, feminine.

Two robed, shrouded figures huddled around a glowing orb, it's innards shifting and pulsing. Inside the sphere was a child, running through a forest, a necklace clutched close to his chest.

"I shall tell him, you stay here and watch for any changes in the situation," the boy said.

A dark silhouette became prominent in the doorway. "You would tell me of what I already know, young one?" The man's hand, complete with long fingernails, held a similar orb, smaller, with the same pulsing core as the sphere near the other two figures. "I am not called the Elder Scryer for personal enjoyment..."

"Of course, I apologize..."

"No apologies are necessary, child, you are but a young apprentice. I have had the same over the years; it is not uncommon."

"Well then," the girl spoke, "what shall we do? The child runs farther with the medallion the more we wait!"

"I shall go after him, of course." The man smiled at the two apprentices; he was already in light robes, lined with tassels, small skulls, bones, and other such trinkets. He wore several necklaces and rings, and had a feathered headband around his thinning scalp. It would appear to one that the Elder Scryer saw this long before the children did.

"But sir, we are younger, and would make the trip faster!"

"Nathaniel, that is enough. You are presumptuous again... you think that I have lost my touch for adventure over the years?" He laughed.

"You will at least be taking your staff, I assume?"

"Of course, Alexis; I may be adventurous still, but, as Nathaniel seems bent on reminding me of the fact, I am still an older man." From the corner, he gathered up his staff. It was handcrafted from a fallen tree, and was simply decorated with some strings of beads and trinkets, along with a small gem embedded in the top.

"Master Riviere, will you promise us one thing?"

"Yes children... I will return safely. I have foreseen that as well... after all, the apprentices are nothing without a master to teach them."

"Be careful, sir."

"Keep a weather-eye for my return, young ones. I shall return once I have played my part in this story."

Then, the elder scryer Alexander Riviere left his homestead and, atop his gray steed, rode toward the distant forests.

(OOC: Aaaaand... this is the part were everyone else posts!!

*Waits, anticipating the inevitably big rush of posts*))

Shoo!

Fwuph!

"Got him!" Afree said, raising her bow into the air. She hopped off the tree and picked up her arrow, there, on the tip, was a mosquito that had been on Al'aundro's arm. Afree winced when she saw a piece of his clothing on the arrow as well. The elf was getting rusty, too much stealing, not enough poking holes in stuff.

Afree looked at the shrinking form of the boy as he ran off. "Wait!" Afree called after him. "You forgot your mosquito!...and part of your shirt!"

She motioned for her her new horse to come out of hiding and climbed on top of him.

"Follow that kid!" The horse reared upwards and gave pursuit.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was no way that elf could have missed the kid at point-blank.
Will followed the boy. One of the perks of being a ghost was that he never got tired. Oddly enough, he avoided running into trees, old habits die hard.
Something wasn't right about the situation. There was an elf giving chase, on his horse Will noted, who could have killed the boy easily but didn't for some reason. Maybe the arrow was used for panic and it was more of a capture mission? The elf's arrow didn't match the one he had been hit with, which made even less sense! All he could do was pray the kid wasn't just going to run around in panicked circles.
(OOC: This part has nothing to do with the story, just amusing filler)
Three Nazgul sat in a living room, one of them set the television remote down with a sigh after finding there was nothing good on.
"So, ah, I hear there's this amulet some kid's got. Wanna check it out? It'll be like old times."
"Nah, I've delt with enough short people to last me a long while. Besides, I didn't get much satisfaction with our last job, even after we killed Frodo."
"Ahem!" The third Nazgul pointed to the words Frodo Lives on the T-shirt he wore.
"Whatever Murrie. I say we go for it. It's not like Arwen is going to be th-"
"B!*ch."
"Yes, we are all aware of what you think of her Murrie. Anyway, I just think we should get out of this lair once in awhile."
The second Nazgul shot a rubber band he'd been playing with. "I just don't feel it's worth it. I mean, he's a kid. Kids always win. Look at all the media: Peter Pan, Kingdom Hearts, The Pagemaster, The Sandlot."
"The Sandlot wasn't about winning" Murrie pointed out "it was about making the best of your childhood years."
"I thought it was about defeating a giant monster dog or something?"
The first Nazgul threw his hands up. "You know what? Forget I said anything! If anyone needs me I'll be in my room!"
He slammed the door shut.
'Good...' Zhard thought as the child began to run away from the elf. As the arrow was shot it missed by a marginal, taking part of the boys shirt with it and a mosquito that had been on his arm. 'I hope that was not intentional, because if so she is one heck of a sharpshooter...' Zhard thought, not really afraid of the elf himself, but for the boy who now held the amulet he was sealed in. It was about this time, when the boy was running in panic away from the elf that began to give chase on a horse, and the ghost he had seen earlier followed closely, that he felt they were being watched from somewhere.
Looking around from the shadows around the boy he eventualy noticed the point in which the apprentices where watching them from. A normal being could not notice it, but a demon of Zhards "level" could see the faint ripple scrying did in the atmosphere. As the two apprentices were talking to their master a shadow fell over the scrying orb and a deep red and slitted eye opened within it, watching the three and listening in on their conversation. 'Heh.. This is just getting more and more interesting.' The Demon thought, his precense leaving the orb just as the two apprentices turned to it again.
'This may end for the boy bad unless he puts on the amulet. I cannot use my powers without it.' Zhard thought, once again back in the shadows of the forest.
Exhausted, Al'aundro slid to the bottom of a tree, tucking the amulet deep within his clothing. He passed out under the tree, whimpering under his breath.
"Hello, child."
Al'aundro woke with a start, and was about to run again when the man who spoke simply said "Wait." It had such a commanding tone to it, he found that he was actually compelled to stay.
"Do you know what that amulet is? The amulet you have tucked beneath your clothing?"
"I-it's just jewelry... I think... isn't it?"
The old man shook his head, the trinkets on his robe jingling. "It is far from it, child. A malevolent force is bound within that necklace, one that has been unleashed once before, and combined with other forces, could very well prove disastrous moreso than last time."
"But... what's inside the necklace saved me a little while ago... there was this elven woman, and she had her bow pointed at me. She was going to kill me and take everything I had!" The child began to quiver at the thought of it.
"It did not keep you alive for personal reasons, child! It saved you so that it may one day live again!"
"No! It saved me! I don't believe you!!" He ran off, knowing that the old man could not follow him easily.
"You cannot run from it, Al'aundro! It will be beside you until it wishes to overtake you, and nothing more," the grand scryer called after him. "Heed my warning, child, you are in great danger!!" Alex leaned on his staff, panting. He wasn't as young as he used to be.
