It's been a really long time since the last DVD release of some post-apocalyptic movie. If I remember well it was Shriek Show's THE NEW BARBARIANS? After that they stopped releasing post-apocalypse gems on DVD. Perhaps the ones that came out didn't sell well?
Well THE RAIDERS OF ATLANTIS is a film that screams for a widescreen remaster, its one of the titles I'd like to see most! Here is a link to the original theatrical trailer of the film that I was lucky enough to find in one of my old VHS. http://www.motion.tv/play=00000d96 DVD companies stop neglecting the post-apocalypse genre |

Would I want it on HD DVD should be the question, to which the answer is yes!
I do want to replace the Greek VHS which is the only letterbox version of the film I have turned up so far. |

I second that one! If these were released in quality editions, I would buy all the Italian post-nuke flicks without hesitation. Even EXTERMINATORS OF THE YEAR 3000. How about a FINAL EXECUTIONER/BRONX EXECUTIONER double feature? It would be nice, since half of THE BRONX EXECUTIONER is recycled footage from FINAL, including ALL of Woody Strode's scenes. I've picked some of these up in some VHS clearance bins, but the DVDs are long overdue! -------------------- |

Our 42ND STREET FOREVER DVD has a much, much better quality trailer for RAIDERS OF ATLANTIS on it. No need to dig out that old VHS... -------------------- |

Definitely, I would pick up a nice DVD of Raiders of Atlantis in a second. I haven't seen this one in over a decade but I remember really liking it in all its loopy, action-packed glory.
I really liked Shriek Show's Post-Apocalypse series and agree it's too bad they haven't added anything to it in a while. I was really hoping they would release the sequel to 1990: Bronx Warriors. |

The swedish and danish tapes are fully letterboxed and uncut too, by the way. A DVD release still would be great though, why not a doublebill with this and the (almost) equally fun italian sci-fi/action flick TOP LINE? By the way, this Deodato-flick has an enormous following in Sweden (among eurocult fans that is) while its pretty much refered to as a footnote in Deodatos-filmography abroad. I don't know wheter its because of its easy avaliability or the fact that it got hyped up early by the older generation of video collectors, probably both, but it's a very entertaining flick, worthy of its cult status in Sweden and ripe for worldwide rediscovery. Can you let me know what title they go buy, I would like to do an eBay search for those or if you can recommend another sales place for Swedish and Danish ex-rentals/sell throughs? |

Oh yeah, I'd love a DVD of this one to replace my worn old VHS, as is the case for all of these post apocalyptic movies.
As far as DVD extras go, I'd love it to be accompanied by a commentary in which someone tries to explain what the hell it's all about. |

A double-bill of 2020 TEXAS GLADIATORS and ENDGAME would be a dream too! Joe D'Amato Post-Apocalyptic Double Feature

It's called "Atlantis Interceptors" in scandinavia, it was released by Transworld in the mid-eighties. A good place to find old swedish ex-rentals is www.tradera.com - there are some copies for sale there right now, but watch out for the seller tomobea's one sonce it's a dvd-r. -------------------- Use the mega-metric teleprobe and scan the whole eastern galaxy! Well it was almost impossible to understand whether I had registered to Tradera, and whether I had actually placed a bid with any success (I think that was what I was doing) - it seems like a sort of eBay place, but I am not sure. Anyhow the good news is that I did receive an email in a language that I am not able to translate, but I think my bid was the winner! I have an email address for the seller, and hope that he/she now gets a reply to me! Are there any other Swedish VHS releases that are rare and not on DVD? I would be willing to try again on Tradera for some rare suggested titles if anyone knows any. |

Mill Creek have included a supposed anamorphic interlaced version of RAIDERS OF ATLANTIS on a Sci-Fi Invasion - 50 Movie Pack. Cheap at Amazon USA $9.99 when I ordered just now - but I can't speak for the quality (hoping at least an upgrade from my letterbox Swedish VHS).

I remembered seeing this brick at my local Target, so I bought one. Raiders is full screen, print is dirty and has some damage, but the color is good and it was quite watchable. As for the movie, wow, just wow.
