I'm curious. In trying, in vain, to get a list of theaters that project in 4k, I saw a message that amounted to saying that the average2k compressed movie runs 150 gigs. I could've sworn that when I held SPIDERMAN 3, the hard drive said 3 terabytes.
So, who's crazy here? This post has been edited by Domenick Fraumeni on Nov 7 2009, 01:30 AM |

Oh, and until everybody starts doing their post-work in 4K, 2K's an accurate rendition of content. WB and Sony have taken the plunge to finish everything in 4K, and hopefully the rest of the majors will follow soon. Then 4K projection really will be worth seeking out.

Aaah. So a 2k movie is really compressed to less then half the size of the average hard drive? Impressive. True true. As long as post is done in 2k, projecting in anything above that is fairly useless. Although, I do think that the lumens needs to be increased more for 3d showings. Still a bit dim, on the average, especially with Dolby 3d. |

TOY STORY turned out alright, but still missing that Pixar sparkle, just a bit. But MY BLOODY VALENTINE was soooo dim. Urrrgh.
With all the sexy talk on resolution, none seems to notice all the other dozen or so things that go into the projection process. Hence the concept of full on automation isn't really oing to come to fruition anytime soon. |
