Great character actor G. D. Spradlin has passed away at 90. Memorable as Robby Benson's coach in ONE ON ONE and the "Tom Landry" substitute in NORTH DALLAS FORTY among many others.

Wow, I didn't know he was still around. I just recently saw him in TORA, TORA, TORA! (1970), which was only his fifth movie. His first was WILL PENNY in 1968, the year he turned 48. (His first TV credit is only two years earlier.) He also made HELL'S ANGELS '69 and ZABRISKIE POINT around that time. Quite an interesting mix of credits in such a short time. I think he's probably most famous for GODFATHER II (he played the corrupt senator), and possibly APOCALYPSE NOW (the general who sends Martin Sheen on the mission to terminate Col. Kurtz). But maybe he's more famous to the rest of you for something else.
