Title: That long search for the soundtrack
Description: to Faceless

One of my first ever posts on the old Mobius was enquiring after songs from the soundtrack of Jess Franco's 1988 film Faceless which I first owned on a letterbox Australian VHS, a very dark letterbox Japanese VHS, and a letterbox Hong Kong laserdisc and eventually the slightly faulty Shriek Show DVD (Telly Savalas' last line of dialogue in French when the line is available in English - DOH!). Nearly ten years later at the Inferno Music blog someone has finally tracked down some of the music cues. According to the IMDB entry, still missing is Carol Welsman's other track Mais Que Bonita (she also sings the Just Imagination song where Mitchum is questioning the pimp in a disco).

"Mais Que Bonita" is played during Caroline Munro's photo shoot.

Here's some tracks Faceless found on YouTube, from one of my fave Euro horror soundtracks:

Faceless theme song - Vincent Thoma as overused in the film.

Just Imagination - Carol Welsman from a Disco scene where Private Detective Sam Morgan roughs up a pimp for information on a missing call girl.

Crystal Eyes - Vincent Thoma from another Disco scene where Dr. Flammand picks up actress Florence Guerin.

Can anyone please tell me if this music cue: Carol Welsman - One Night Samba is used briefly in Faceless (I am unable to check the film at the moment) - I thought it might be used for a short music sting just before the vocals kick in for a Mitchum driving scene or something?!

Well best endeavours and all, here is what I have bought so far from vinyl and one CD - Faceless Soundtrack Redux. This replaces the crappy versions that were linked to above.

I want to get the (B-Side track 'Les Predateurs De La Nuit') 7" (45 Tours) that Kit Gavin helped Ninja Dixon Blog get a disc, and also have tried emailing the guy who has a copy listed on Soundtrack Collector - a loaner or a WAV file would be great to complete the set!

Elusive disc photo: :(
