Mandala winced as she straightened out the make-shift bandage that had been placed on her leg, it having hit some wire that came out of the back of a seat when the plane had lost its air pressure. After having made sure it was in its correct spot, she leaned back a little, propping herself up on her shoulders before looking around her, closing her eyes as if she wished that someone had actually been able to explain exactly what had happened--why they had crashed.

Ethan had just gotten back from the jungle. He had firewood in his arms, plus some bananas in a sort of basket on his back. Ethan walked by a woman who looked in pain. He dropped the fire wood on a pile he was already making, and headed back over to the woman. Ethan took a banana out of the basket and handed it to her. "You should eat something." he said. He wasn't a very talkative person, so he probably wouldn't stick around for too long.

Mandala had allowed her thoughts to drift when she heard someone walk up to her and begin to talk. Looking up with a start, she allowed her self to calm down before she offered him a smile, taking the yellow fruit from him. "Thanks," she replied, as if uncertain of what to say.

Ethan nodded and took a banana out for himself. He peeled it and started to eat it. He swallowed it and spoke. "You're welcome. What happened?" he said. He truly didn't know what had happened, for he had not been on the plane. He was trying to not make it obvious at all. "To your leg anyway." he added on to make it sound more resonable.

As she just held the banana for the moment in her lap, not actually really wanting to eat at that moment, Mandala looked down at her leg. "I don't know, we think it was a spring in the back of a seat. It cut through but it's fine. Don't know why the doc made a fuss out of it."

Ethan finished his banana. "Oh. So you're alright?" Ethan said. "Not hungry?" he said, noticing the banana on her lap. Ethan looked around at the debris of the plane. "So what were you doing on the plane?" he asked. "Ethan." he held out his hand for her to shake. He had heard the crash, he had heard screams, and he had seen smoke, so he decided to come investigate. So far, he thought, he was blending in pretty well. Except several probably suspected him, he did, after all, not have any injuries.

"Yeah, or atleast I should be," Mandala nodded, taking his hand and shaking it lightly. "Mandala...not actually quite sure where my name came from but I think my parents went into ancient African or something," she commented before shaking her head. "And not really. I guess falling several feet from the sky then impacting with the ground can do that to some people."

As she made an effort to stand up, she looked around her before frowning. "Do you know where everyone else is? Usually that man--Sayid?--is here, fiddling around with something or another, trying to fix them," she commented, wondering if perhaps he had left to do some more work. She hadn't really noticed anyones presence anywhere until they were gone.

Ethan nodded. "Good." he said. "Mandala? Nice to meet you Mandala. I think that's a unique name." Ethan said as he looked out towards the ocean. Ethan noticed that Mandala was struggling to stand up and helped her up. "You should be careful with that leg you know." He said as he supported her. "Sayid? No, I don't know where he is. The others are probably busy working on getting camp together or something." Ethan said as he looked around the beach. He was looking at almost everyone, trying to remember what they looked like, and how they acted. He figured it would probably help later on.

"Ethan!" Locke called as he emerged from the jungle into the campfire clearing, panting slightly, "I think I've found that den of rabbits we've been looking for."
Locke's scarred right eye squinted subconsiously as he looked across the bright fire. "Oh, hello there," Locke said with a laughing smile to the resting Mandala, "could I steal Ethan away for a bit?" giving a little wink with his already nearly-closed eye.

"Thanks," Mandala told him with a smile when he helped her up before shrugging. "Dunno where my parents got it, I think it's some old taboo name, mom's half African and all..." she trailed off when she saw a man that had been helping Jack--Locke, was it?--come up to them and start to talk to Ethan.

Giving him a nod, she grinned a bit. "Of course. I suppose food on this forsaken island is much more useful than talking. Or rather 'chit-chat' as some Americans call it..."

"No problem." Ethan said in reply to Mandala's 'thanks.' "I think it's a nice name." he said. Ethan turned around when he heard his name get called. He saw a man with a scar on his right eye. It was Locke, the person he always hunted with. "The den of rabbits? Well, that's good." he said. Ethan looked into the fire, thinking about what kind of food Locke and him were going to find.

Ethan looked back over to Mandala. "Are you going to be alright alone?" he asked. "We'll be back... I don't know..." he looked over towards Locke, "When do you estimate we'll be back?" Ethan asked.

"Shouldn't take too long, maybe a couple hours. " Locke said as he handed a sheathed knife to Ethan, "It depends how quietly we can sneak up on the warren."
"But don't worry, I wouldn't want to keep your little chit chatting appart for too long." Locke said with a sly wink.

"Hmmm... now that I think about it, we may need a few more people to successfully guard all the rabbits' escape tunnels..." He said as he looked over Mandala.
"Ah..." he mumbled as he gazed over Mandala's bandaged leg, "I guess I can't allow you to do that, or Jack'll be all over me on it"
Suddenly dawning an air of briskness, Locke said "well come along then Ethan, we'll have to ask around a bit."
"I'll bet Walt's father would help out... and that pretty-boy..." Locke pondered to himself as he walked away from the fire into the darkening night towards the fuselage.

Ethan nodded. "Ok. I'm sure a lot of these people will be hungry by then." Ethan took the knife Locke handed him and but it in his belt, "It's going to be difficult to sneak up on the warren." he said as he looked back towards Locke. Ethan was starting to devise a plan in his head. Draw the rabbits out with bait... Catch them as soon as they get out of the hole... And if they get away... That'll suck... Scratch that... That's a horrendous plan... I'll leave the planning to Locke. he thought.

"We'll need a lot of people for that. Then we're going to have to find a way to draw them out. Some tunnels may be hidden under something and we won't realize it unless we look closely for some disturbed dirt, grass, earth... You know, the normal things to look for." Ethan said as he thought about some people to come with them on the hunting trip. Ethan nodded and waved to Mandala. "See you later." He said as he ran up to Locke. "Maybe we should get Charlie to help and Sayid." Ethan said to Locke as he walked alongside him.

Mandala nodded after them, telling them that she'd see them later before she laid down a bit, her head resting on what many others would just sit on as she closed her eyes, thinking while she tried to block the coming flashback, but she couldn't block the few images that came to her mind.

"Mother!" Mandala yelled at her mother, more African than many others inside her country as she looked worriedly at her but a look made her fall silent as he father pushed her mother up against the wall.

"What were you doing without your head scarf on this morning?" he demanded, eyes blazing as he glanced at her daughter, then sixteen, before back to his wife. "Where the hell was it? Allowing others to see yourself, have you no morals?"

Shuddering, she tried to forget about it, allowing herself once more to just mourn the death of her father rather than remember what he had done.

Sayid walked across the beach and headed toward the fire that he and Ethan had started. He dumped the pile of wood he had in his arms next to the fire and sat down next to Mandala. "Is your leg okay?" He asked her.
