Why does Logan activate Tracker when Underground?, Post moved as New Topic

Hi Phil,

Yes - At that point in the film, I believe that Logan is still working with Computer to destroy Sanctuary. He actually thinks that when he is with all of those people 'underground', that he has found Sanctuary and calls in to alert all the other Sandmen.

Shortly thereafter, he realizes he made a mistake! When he says the line "Then this isn't Sanctuary?", he knows that the sandmen are coming and says to Jessica that she should no longer follow him and asks the others to make sure that she gets out safely, back to the domes.

In a piece of cut dialogue (from the Uncut LR premier tape), Logan says to Jessica, "They'll (meaning the Sandmen he's just purposely called) be here any moment" and right afterwards, they show up, guns a-blazin - destorying what they think is Sanctuary!

IMO, he hasn't fully made the decision to truely become a runner at that point (or any earlier) in the film.

I think that he really starts becoming a runner when he and Jessica finally escape the Domes (after Box) - when swimming with Jess in the pond.

HOWEVER -- If the Ice Sculpture scene was still in the movie, I think that that would have been the place where he notices his true feelings for Jessica and at that moment, with Jessica in his arms - posing for Box, he decides to become a 'true' runner.

EDIT -- I have just posted the actual dialogue between Logan and Jessica that was cut during the Box Ice Sculpture scene in a seperate thread.

This dialogue confirms the reason why Logan activated his tracker and alerted the Sandman. It also shows us Logan's confusion about his mission still, and his true feelings towards Jessica.
