Christmas Present?, Is it worth $40?

Hi, as I stated in the chatbox, my sister was really depressed about beating ToS. She's content playing it over and over for now, but she craves more. I was thinking since we don't know when ToI comes out on the US, and a PSP looks awfully far off, would TotA be a worthy Christmas present? If it's even half as good as ToS she'll like it, but is it anywhere near as good? I could check GameFAQs, but you guys seem much more knowledgeable and experienced than anyone else who may be posting there. [/ flattery]

EDIT: I just realized that at some point between now and then, she MAY join the forums. If she does I'll edit this post beforehand, but if you reply don't phrase it in a way that'll make her know. Post as if I was just curious about the game and wanted to know more about it. Sorry about the extra effort, but I don't want to give it away.

EDITEDIT: Never mind, she guessed it, no secrecy, we'll probably just go buy it. Still, is it good?

Ok first ive never played tota but from what ive seen its cool(oh why did it have to only come out in america and japan)

Second: Just by the damn thing in the first place which you did and i applued you =) U_U

Third: tos is great and ive completed it so yeah xp =p O_O o_O =O

TotA is great, we're less than halfway through the game and we can already use "Mystic Artes"! (Hi-Ougis)

The storyline is nice, starts kinda slow, but it gets more serious later.

It's also nice how there are two good melee characters as opposed to ToS where I ended up using Genis. (My sister uses Lloyd.) What? Zelos? No, I wouldn't use him. Regal? Not useful enough to put into our party. But in this game she gets Luke, and I get Guy, so yeah, it's nice.

Yeah i was really bland about who i put in my party it would just be Lloyd,zelos,genis and collete and then when any of them went missing ide just throw sheena into it but ive messed around with my party now so yeah.

Speaking of which i started a new game a couple of days ago and i used the grade increased exp x2 so ive got like lv 20's in the water temple oh yeah and ive done all of the boss fights on mania

Our usual party was: Lloyd, Genis, [Zelos/Kratos/Sheena/Presea], and Raine.

In Abyss it's: Luke, Guy, Jade, and Tear.

Now that Christmas is closer, you might want to look up Tales of Destiny or Tales of Eternia. Those might make good presents.

They don't seem to be too expensive either...

Heh, I sorta got depressed when I beat Tos too. You feel like you want more to satisfy the storyline they kind of just rushed.

I say that TotA was better then ToS but some, more like a lot will disagree. Although I'm a hardcore Lloyd fan I actually like Luke better, not because he's the main character but because of his moveset, and seems the Luke, Tear, Guy, Jade (not in that order) team is all the rage. I'm on my 3rd playthrough just going around earning titles and stuff I couldn't/didn't earn on the 1st and 2nd playthroughs. Oh yeah...I hate Natalia so...yeah I call her Chickenhead and all that.

I must admit I use the Luke, Tear, Guy and Jade party, but that's only because it's my first playthrough and I need the healer. Once I'm on my 2nd I plan to use Luke, Guy, Jade and Anise.

ToS's plot is easier to follow anyhow. I'm still trying to remember who's on what side. Are they all Oracle Knights... in which case they're fighting each other are they not?

So confusing after a while.

TotA's gameplay is much better though I think, though some of the things like the FS Chambers or whatever they are, are completely pointless.
