Surprisingly there isn't a thread for this yet, but then again this board has been kinda dead as of late. Anyway here's my $0.02 on the Shinkenger premiere;
First of all I enjoyed this a hell of a lot more than I did Geki and Go-on's premieres. So this may be the first series since Boukenger that I didn't have any problems with. And speaking of Bouken, Takeru had a nice serious feel like Akashi, and he wasn't the eternal annoyance that Jan was, nor was he hotheaded like Sousuke (which I was kinda expecting given Takeru's element). The other senshi seem to round out the team nicely and no two characters seem to have practically the same personality (like Retsu and Ran). Can't really say much about the villains so far, since only the Nanashi and the monster of the day really did that much in this episode. The henshin sequence was pretty much what I was expecting with each of the senshi drawing their respective helmet kanji. Whough I wasn't expecting them to flip the kanji before the transformation, and the kanji themselves didn't look exactly like they do on the helmets, which I was expecting. The senshi also broke out their individual weapons in a fairly predictable fashion, and the fight with the Nanashi and the MotD was pretty intense. We also got to see the Origami in action, but no ShinkenOh (that's coming next week). Other than that I'm actually kinda digging the woodblock print styled ED sequence, which best of all features no stupid dancing. Speaking of which, here's the ED theme;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dL0mLE8j2OQIt also appears as if there won't be something like the Go-on seminar, or the Beast Arts Academy segments after the episode. Of course a lack of this type of segment could be because this is only the first ep, but we'll see what happens in the next few weeks.
