It's not really "Warhammer Fantasy", I know, but I thought it was close enough, and this section of the forum desperatly needed attention (last post was May 2007? Oh dear...). So I'm going to post my blog for the Mordheim warband I'm creating. It's (probably...) going to be a Cult of the Possessed force, purely because the rules suited the idea I want to base my warband around. That idea, is these little guys:

user posted image

They're meant to be sort of enchanted suits of armour. I used the Executioner models and carved off their feet drilled out their eyes ( krootidiot.gif ), so the model is made up completely of armour. The cloth under the chainmail skirt is flowing behind him, so I mounted them on poles to give the impression of them floating along.

The guy who still has his feet (which will be shortly removed) is in the picture for a comparison .

C&C welcome.

I really like how you've mounted the one on the post!
VERY interesting concept and executed incredibly well!

Did you under cut the gambeson (skirting)? I did that on some Bretonian Men-at-Arms and it gave a little more sense of depth when the inside was painted with a slightly darker color.

If you have access to a Dremel, you might try using an etching bit to hollow out the helm/skulls a little more to get a tad more depth in the hollow.

I definately like the concept, wish I had thought of it!!

No I haven't, mainly because I don't have the tools. I could but I think it would be too much effort for not much of a gain. I don't mind how they'll turn out (yes I can predict it...)

The helmets are actually a fair bit more hollowed than they appear in the photos. You can see straight through his head through the eye-holes. I have been thinking about hollowing them a tad further though.

Any ideas for the rest of the warband? I'm not sure whether I want to take on an Undead Dark Elf theme or a suit-of-armour theme. Any suggestions?

I think that the enchanted armor thing is the better concept, stick with that. It will be more fun to convert, and you'll have a very unique army!

Cheers. Sorry I haven't been updating guys. I started to paint them, wasn't happy, and striped them, and now I'm bogged down by some Orges I'm painting for a club member. Argh!

Well.

The blog idea died. I got very busy, and not with the warband. So sorry. But I've just finished, so I thought I should post images of the finished lot of them up for you guys.

Here's the warband as she started (minus a Possessed I've just realised). I named the orniginal members after the seven deadly sins, because there was seven of them and the idea was too cool to pass up.

The Cursed Sentinels - suits of enchanted armour. (Count as Beastmen)

Mutants.

Death. I have no idea where this model is from. (Counts as a Magister)

Because I could.

The two Possessed (one I bought later in our campaign).

Two Brethren with bows, who are also a new investment.

The entire warband, as it is now.

I'm thinking of adding a hired-sword Ogre (in the form of an even bigger Daemon...) or a couple of evil looking Darksouls - mainly because their name sounds so cool, as I've got a lot of gold stashed up my sleeves. Who knows...

Well hoped you liked them. I'll get back to you on any updates.
Cheers.

Cheers krootbigsmile.gif

Well nothing super-special on the way, just putting some cloaks on my snipers to mark them out a bit better. When I've got a decent force I'll post 'em up. As for the warband, one of my beastmen was KIA last game so looks like any noobies entering will have to be postponed because I have to pay to get the beastman back.

I Looove the suit of armour idea. I've always wanted to do a mordheim band ever since I read the white dwarf article on the shadow warriors. I guess you end up with a much more personalised force. One thing though, I always thought the seventh deadly sin was Wrath, as opposed to guilt...?
