    ===IDENTITY===

    Full Name: Robert Louis Drake
    Codename: Iceman
    Nickname(s): Bobby, Frosty, Popsicle
    Alias(es): Not Applicable
    Age: 15
Birthday: January 11th (I'm not sure whether its his real birthday, but since the player who had him before me used it, so be it)
    High school grade: Freshman
    Classification: Mutant
    Affiliation: New Recruits
    Canon or Original: Evo Canon

    ===PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION===

    Hair Color: Brown
    Eye Color: Brown
    Height: 5'8"
    Weight: 145 lbs
    Distinguishing Characteristics: Not Applicable.
Other: Bobby is your stereotypical teenager, having his growth-spurt kick in for another round and growing about three inches more in height since he first enrolled at Xavier's, now landing at a five-foot-eight. This change is more visible now since his return to the Institute after taking a leave of absence (see last paragraph History). The taller height came with his physique thinning further, making him look leaner than before. His dark brown hair seemed to have grown longer and silkier, though they still manage to set pretty easily. His skin is paler than most, making the occasional outsider believe that Bobby doesn't go out in the Sun much, not knowing its just that his cold-based powers keep him relatively fair.

His powers nullify the need to wear heavy clothes, leaving him dressed in usually simple and lightweight attire; the typical baggy or cargo pants, trainers, and simple half-sleeve shirts. He only dons winter clothing, such as jackets, sweaters or woolen shirts if he has to go undercover or to places where people might question him wearing light clothing in sub-zero temperatures.

On missions, Bobby wears his X-Men Jumpsuit made of unstable molecules that prevents it from breaking when he is in Ice Form. Bobby's ice form is actually caused by his Thermokinesis abilities; lowering his body temperature causes the moisture in the air to form a frost-covering over his body, similar to how frost forms on glass in winter. The ice continuously breaks and reforms as he moves, making the need for clothes of unstable molecules so they don't get ripped or torn while frozen.

    Play-by: Cillian Murphy

    ===POWERS===

    Power Class:
    Nature of the X-Gene:

Thermokinesis: Bobby has the ability to lower his internal and external body temperatures to any level he pleases. This causes him to emit intense coldness from his body into the surrounding area. His body tissues are unaffected by sub-zero temperatures. He can lower his temperature from normal body temperature to -273 degree Celsius in a matter of seconds, though exactly how many depends on the Season and Region of the place he is in (see below). As his body temperature is lowered, the moisture in the air around him is also affected, similar to how moisture in the air in winter freezes on glass. This causes an icy covering (frost) that completely covers his body, making him look like a walking-talking frosty crystal. This ice constantly cracks with any movement of his body, and immediately reforms. Hence, there is a cracking sound when the Iceman, covered with ice, moves.

Thermal Vision: Iceman has the ability to see beings due to the heat signature that others give off, because of the absence of heat around him.

Cryokinesis: Iceman can use his mutant powers to freeze the moisture in the air around him, enabling him to form solid constructs of ice, such as ice-bats, ice-ladders, ice-shields, and countless other ice-weapons. He can fire a "freeze beam" from his hands in order to freeze other objects, or even people. He does this by taking control of the water vapours around him, having them take the shape that he desires and then freezes them, forming the ice-weapon for his needs. Bobby does not need to use his hands to mold the vapours into the shape he needs them, instead doing it almost subconsciously. As transportation, he uses his Cryokinesis to create a rising column of ice beneath his feet which is used to lift him off the ground. As Iceman travels ont he column, Iceman has it continously grow ice-pillars so it can support both its own and Bobby's combined weight.

Iceman's powers are still far from their peak, though. He is still but a child, and his power reflect that. As an adult he might gain more advanced abilities, both through hard work, determination, training and evolution. These powers could include the ability to form himself into Organic Ice, literally becoming walking, solid H2O, with reformation abilities should his body parts become 'shattered', as well as the ability to control large bodies water and use it to transport himself over great distances in a small fraction of time, though that is just speculation depending on how fast, how much and how attentively he learns, how determined he is to improve, how necessary it is for him to improve and if he manages to live that long. You never know when you might get called up to your Lord, now, do you?

    Limitations & Weaknesses:

Seasonal: Bobby's powers vary throughout the seasons. He is the strongest in winter, the atmosphere being cold enough that it freezes easily and so Bobby can spend more of his energy in fighting than forming his ice. In Summer though, he has to work twice as hard, not that it is that much of a problem but Bobby gets tired rather easily in Summer compared to the other seasons, having to spend more energy trying to lower the temperature enough to freeze the water in the air. In Autumn or Spring though, his powers remain fairly constant, though they start to increase nearing the end of Autumn to reach Winter-levels and decreasing nearing the end of Spring to reach Summer-levels. This is why Iceman prefers to fight in cold areas.

Regional: Mostly relating to the Seasonal concept of his powers; he is stronger in areas where there is more cold than compared to less colder areas, for example Mountainous areas, or where the water concentration in the air is above average; i.e. Tropical Rain forests for example. He is especially very weak and pretty slow in the Desert areas, though he still can form ice there - it just takes longer and the ice is more fragile.

Intense Heat: The Iceman is weak against fire or heat-based opponents, as fire melts ice. Though he may put up some resistance against weaker Pyrokinets, but the stronger a fire user is, the weaker Bobby becomes. Regular flame throwers aren't that effective against him, unless they are powered by a high-energy source. Also, Cyclops' Optic Blasts also seem to have the effect of melting Bobby's ice.

Physical/Mental Condition: The Iceman's ability to perform is directly related to his daily physical health and current mental state. Under normal conditions, he can usually form ice continually for a period of about upto fifteen minutes before becoming mentally and physically exhausted. He then needs to rest for another fifteen minutes to recover. However, this time limit is also variable, depending on the weather conditions. If he is fighting in the Arctic, naturally, he could form ice for a longer period of time and in an easier way, than if he is fighting in the Sahara.

    Personality:

"One of Iceman's best personality traits is that emotionally Bobby Drake is like the ice he manipulates -- not cold but transparent. He's devastatingly honest. He is very up-front with his emotions and his thoughts all the time. Also, he's obviously incredibly brave both in terms of facing external, physical danger as well as facing up to unpleasant situations and admitting his own mistakes." (Iceman writer Mike Carey)

Bobby's most recognizable trait, and his main downfall, is his cockiness. He over-estimates himself and his abilities and charges head first into battle without thinking of a plan or listening to his seniors. This usually is the reason he gets into trouble, though he mostly manages to get himself out of it. He may be the living example of arrogance, but even he knows when to quit, give up and admit his faults. He is constantly scolded by his seniors for his attitude, Logan especially, due to which he has a lasting dislike for 'good ol' Wolvy'. (But then again, which one of the New Recruits likes Wolverine anyways?) A couple of sessions in the Danger Room and some household chores under Logan's supervision usually manage to fix his cockiness for the remainder of the week, though. He relies more on his Ice than his head in battle, which doesn't always work. Often, this over-reliance on his powers will get him in over his head, and his teammates will have to catch up to rescue him.

He doesn't like working hard, but he's naturally intelligent. That doesn't go well with his cocky prankster personality, though, so he keeps a lid on it. He is especially gifted in Accounting, Thermophysics and Computer Science, and his 'B+'s and sometimes "A"s do the talking for him. Though he's poor in other subjects because of his laziness, usually daydreaming in class, which lowers his overall grade and earns him the title "Slacker" from his teachers. Though Bobby does know about his bad habits and dislikes them, he does not do anything about them.

Bobby is easy to make friends with and once in his circle of friendship, he would stop at no end to protect and support his allies, offering great advice and sometimes, just providing a listening ear. Bobby is fiercely protective of those he considers friends, manyatimes going as far as to threaten those who hurt or go against them, even if they're his own peers at Xavier's, or even if they're X-Men. When under stress, Bobby usually tends to become distanced from others, instead of confiding in them, but the only reason he does so is because he does not want to trouble his friends with his problems and make them worry about his well-being. He is in many ways Xavier's most idealistic student, and his friendliness and compassion are the glue that hold the disparate team of Mutants together. When not a member of the X-Men as Iceman, Robert Drake rescues cats from trees and participates in community fund-raisers.

One thing that holds true with any and almost all teenage boys and also applies to Bobby is: he likes girls. A lot. Bobby has a flirty and perverted behavior towards the opposite sex, much to the annoyance of the X-Girls. He thinks that he is a ladies’ man, but he doesn’t really have a clue. As a comic relief, he usually gets rejected, much to his own annoyance. Though if he likes a girl and the girl actually likes him back and tries to make a move on him, Bobby gets nervous at the last moment, giving lame excuses and ending up making an idiot out of himself. It is embarassing, to say the least, being a flirt and then chickening out in front of Reverse Psychology; to him anyways.

As a young Mutant, Bobby Drake was given to immaturity and impetuousness. Blessed with a quick wit, Bobby takes a light-hearted view of saving the world. He is the comedian of the group, a wisecracking, easy-going slacker who relies on his ice, not brains, to get him out of trouble. Unfortunately, this doesn’t always work, and his flippant attitude annoys his teammates who take their jobs far more seriously (Scott).

Gifted in the ancient mystical art of Prae-Kwon-Do, also known as 'Pranking'. His pranks are good-natured and lovable, even if the person who gets pranked might be angry with him for a couple minutes. If he emotionally hurts someone with his pranks, though its rare of that to happen, he falls to his feet and begs for forgiveness, literally. With puppy-dog eyes. If that doesn't work, he makes a beautiful ice sculpture and presents it as an apology gift. And that is bound to work. All the above-mentioned details about his pranks are to be ignored, however, if the target was Mr. Logan. The cranky old coot deserves what's coming to him, making Bobby take out the garbage in front of all the girls like that.

Perhaps the greatest and most idolizing of Bobby's personality traits is his undying Courage and incredible Honesty. He is not afraid to admit his emotions and is very straightforward about them. This emotional honesty can often complicate matters for Bobby, especially in matters of love. Though he is looked down upon as being immature, this is just a guise for his insecurities and well noted fear of change, he is easily made emotionally uncomfortable by his own short-comings and this often alters Bobby's child-like joviality into sullen moodiness (which does not help in the perception that he is immature).

Bobby's heroism and bravery are beyond question, of course, always ready to sacrifice his own well-being for the sake of the team's victory. He is incredibly brave both in terms of facing physical danger as well as facing up to unpleasant emotional situations and admitting his own mistakes. When on a mission, his only goal is the safety of his friends and the attainment of the goal. He does not care about himself at all, often risking his life to save those he cares about and to make sure that he upholds everything he fights for. His courage has often been mistaken for his cockiness; its remarkable how often those two traits coincide when it comes to the Iceman. When coming to a situation where one person from the team has to act as bait or do other dangerous tasks alone, he is mostly the first one to volunteer. Iceman has been willing to lay down his life or sacrifice his powers for good.

Bob Drake is admirable not because he's a genius or the most important guy in the world. He's just an honest guy trying to do what he thinks is right, which is what defines heroism - not giving up and doing what you think right, both for you and for others.

    ===PERSONAL BACKGROUND===

Family: William Drake (father), Madeline Drake (mother)
Place of Origin: Long Island, New York
    History:

    Fresh Outta the Freezer

Robert Louis Drake was born and raised in Floral Park, NYC, Long Island, New York, named after his deceased paternal grandfather. His father Bill Drake had a stable job and an acceptable monthly income, enough to raise his son and wife Maddie. Being their only son, Bill and Maddie were overprotective of him and Bobby was the 'baby boy', cuddled and showered with all of his parents' love and affection. This caused him to develop a bit of a shy yet adventurous personality since birth. He grew up a fairly normal kid, showing his traits for adventure at an early age, often playing Rugrat and getting into trouble, much to his mother's worrisome nature. His father always scolded him for getting into trouble, so he developed a nature to always try to please his parents.

    The Iceless Age

All in all, Bobby grew up as a relatively normal child, growing up healthy and with no worries, like innocent children usually are. He developed his pranking affinity as soon as he enrolled in school at the age of four, and worked his way up to the rank of Prank King, his pranks becoming more effective and funnier with each passing school year. As his focus wandered over to perfecting his pranks, he gave little work and time to his studies, managing decent grades in subjects like Maths, but fairing only slightly above average in other subjects like Geography and English. This made his parents sad and they persuaded their son to start using his potential, to no avail. This did not mean that Bobby disrespected his parents though - he just couldn't get the patience to focus on his work, considering it boring and discarding it for other more entertaining measures (a fart-cushion, for example). He hated making his parents sad like that but he just could not find the willpower to work.

    Meltdown

By and by, time passed. Soon Bobby reached puberty. It was during these days that he started to fall ill, for some unknown reason. He seemed to be cold all over, enough to make him visibly shiver in front of a full-power electric heater. Worried, his parents had him admitted in Long Island General Hospital, where the doctors recorded a temperature of as low as 73.6 Fahrenheit. They tried different thermometers and used other methods of measuring temperature as well, but everything showed almost exactly the same result. The entire Hospital staff was dumbfounded as to how someone could survive at such a low temperature, yet Bobby seemed to be coming along with nothing more than the symptoms of the flu. They could find no cure or even diagnose the strange condition properly, and in the end Bobby got so fed up of all the nurses coming in every two minutes to measure his temperature and do countless other stupid tests that he simply willed himself to be warmer.

    Strangely enough, it worked.

The gawking Hospital staff could tell nothing about the situation or how the boy had managed to accomplish something so extraordinary - for lack of better word - as that. Bobby went home, now seemingly cured. His parents were concerned about what had happened, but they were thankful that their son was now not going to become an experimental freak-show for the Doctors.

    Cold Comfort

As time past, Bobby seemed to become the prey of more peculiar events, some of which included him trying to drink a glass of water only to find it frozen a second later, or taking a bath in a bath-tub when he froze himself under the bathwater, without feeling even slightly cold himself, only for it to revert back to room temperature a couple seconds later when he wanted it to. This incident, and remembering the incident at the Hospital, he started to explore these strange phenomena and discovered that he could freeze anything he wished, lower his body temperature to practically any point he wanted and be a literal Snowman, all without himself feeling even a slight touch of cold. He accepted these gifts delightfully and started to explore and hone his abilities in secret, in fear that he might become an outcast or a freak-show should anyone discover his abilities.

Then came the one being on earth that can truly make every boy's life miserable: the fearsome entity known as 'The Girl'. Obviously, Bobby was had already reached puberty. And with that came the need of, and interest in, the opposite sex. This is when his flirty attitude first started to develop and he developed a crush on a girl named Judy. The relationship wasn't much of one, really, just an 'extended friendship', with trips to the movies or simple walk in the parks. Even this so-called relationship came to an abrupt and, in Bobby's case, a heart-breaking end as she dumped him over the phone for some other boy.

    The Iceman Cometh

Bobby seemed to have taken it quite well... for the first two minutes after Judy had hung up the phone, anyways. After his mind finally caught up with what had just transpired, Bobby snapped. He yelled in anger and subconsciously lowered his body temperature to Absolute Zero. A layer of hardened, crystallized ice formed around him, acting as a sort of 'Ice Armor', making him look like a walking icecube. His scream and the fact that he had managed to unintentionally freeze his entire room, including some ice spikes that had pierced through his room's floor down into his parents' living room, sent the latter running up to their son and breaking the frozen door open, only to discover him in his transformed, angry state.

Thus the secret came out. Bobby explained his abilities to his parents, in fear that they might call him a creep and disown him. Instead, his parents assured Bobby that they still loved him no matter who or what he was, making him promise to keep his powers a secret from everyone else. That was something Bobby had no trouble agreeing to, but he felt he had brought shame to his parents by becoming this... this Iceman, as they wanted to hide him from others. Before he tried anything, however, his 'outburst' was detected by Cerebro and the very next morning, Professor Xavier, along with Scott Summers showed up. He offered Bobby a position at his school, explaining to him that there were others like him, others born with the 'X Gene', in a team called the X-Men. To prove this, both the Professor and Scott demonstrated their powers (safely, of course), convincing both Bobby and his parents that they were telling the truth. Bobby agreed to enroll in Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, his parents also agreeing that it was perhaps the best course of action.

    Frosty Company

Quickly joined the ranks of the New Recruits at Xavier's, Bobby quickly proved himself to be among the most capable Mutants of the group, also establishing himself as the resident Prank King. In a party at Xavier's one night, though, the Brotherhood broke in and attacked. The X-Men and New Recruits were forced to fight and defend themselves and that was the Iceman's first experience in a life-or-death battle. He was hesitant at first, but quickly got into the flow as his frosty adrenaline kicked in. After that incident, Storm took him in as her student and began to personally tutor him in controlling his powers. The incident at the rave had already pushed the Iceman towards the road to becoming an X-Man, and under Storm's tutelage, his abilities prospered, though he still has a ways to go before he can even think about actually going on a field mission.

Regular school life followed afterwards as school began and Bobby worked as a waiter for Community Month. In September Bobby discovered that rumor was going around that he was dating fellow New Recruit Rahne Sinclair, though instead of throwing a fit Bobby actually enjoyed playing along with the game. By the end of the month Rahne declared that it was a game and then it was back to boring old school life, though Bobby was still on the lookout for any pranks that he might get a chance to pull. Unfortunately he got a dose of the flu before he could happen and was bed-ridden for a few weeks.

One Frozen Paint-Flavored Shampoo, on the House

He did get his chance though, one that was rather successful in having everyone laugh until they were out of breath. In Early-to-Mid-December he filled every X-Girls' shampoo with paint, with Emma Frost's help. Though a classic, he got his arse handed back to him afterwards, though it was definitely worth the beating.

Unfortunately he got into a fight with one of his peers over a girl he liked, and on New Year too. Since he was the one who had started the fight, he received the most out of the punishment. Fed up, hurt and angry, Bobby decided to take a break, leaving the X-Mansion to go on a sort of vacation trip to sort his feelings out. He just recently returned to the school in the month of the melting ice - March, after a two month long absence.

RP Sample:

Bob Drake, resident prankster, bubbling buffoon and the literal 'coolest' among the younger members in the Xavier Mansion was, for lack of a more appropriate word, pissed. Extremely pissed. The reason was rather simple. Today everyone had received their Report Cards, a copy of which had been mailed over to everyone's parents or legal guardians back at home. In case of Bobby, he had been, as he liked to believe, humiliated by his teachers. The only one who praised him was Professor McCoy, their Maths teacher. The rest had took it upon their heads to admonish him in his report card for his immaturity and inattentiveness in the class and uninterest towards his studies. Especially Mr. Logan.

Scott and Jean both managed to get Straight A's. Why had they done so? Bobby was tempted to believe that Jean had used her telepathy to steal the test answers from the teachers' minds and that Cyclops had only aced because Jean had helped him cheat and because he was the teacher's pet. But he discarded that thought; knowing that saying the Mother Hen cheating would be like saying that fish can breathe on land. The Scott being the teacher's pet was believable, though. Very believable, which had left Bobby seething.

"Could it have hurt them to have given me just a little praise?" Deep down inside he knew that it was his own bad habits that were the cause of his bad grades, but that in no way meant that he would admit it to himself or anyone else for that matter.

"Tell me about zit. I have been at zis longer that you have and zey still treat me like comic zelief," Kurt replied in his heavy German accent. The two were playing Brawlin' Bots together while discussing about their problems - more of Bobby's problems, anyways.

"Its better than being treated like a D-Grade sidekick!" Bobby replied angrily as his quick fingers kept on pushing the buttons of the his Bot's controller while he looked at the blue elf in front of him. "I mean look at Scott, that teacher's pet! He gets Straight A's! And why? Because 'he's responsible' and 'he's serious about his studies'. According to Mr. Logan, he 'works harder, Popsicle!'. Its as if he actually expects me to say 'golly gee, Mr. Logan, you're right!'"

His voice changed from a frustrated tone to a pleading one as he looked at Kurt. "Tell me the truth, Kurt old pal. Do I seem immature to you?"

"Not in ze least," Kurt replied in a monotone, too focused on the game to actually pay attention to what he was asked or what he was answering.

Skoink!

"Hah! I knocked your head off!!!" Bobby stood up and smashed his fist on the table as his red Brawlin' Bot knocked Kurt's blue one's head into the air, the latter dancing there due to the elasticity of the coiled spring that kept it attached to the rest of the Bot's body. He had an ear-splitting grin and his voice was dripping with the smugness of a six-year-old who was telling a five-year-old that he was one year older than him.

"Za-Zat's not fair! Ze red one's arms are longer!" Kurt replied lamely in the five-year-old tone of voice.

"Are not!" Six-year-old strikes again.

From the corner of his eye Bobby caught a streak of white-and-brown and turned his attention to his left side. Over in the far corner Kitty and Rogue were arguing about something again. As soon as he saw Rogue, the only thing Bobby could say was. "She's sooo pretty..."

"Eh?" Kurt's elf-ears perked up in confusion. "Who, Zogue? You do know you can't touch her, zight?"

"Yeah..." Bobby replied dreamily as he pulled out a breath mint, popped it into his mouth, set his hair and then looked at Kurt. "How do I look?"

"Erm... good?"

Without replying Bobby grinned and walked over to the girls. He leaned against the wall and looked at Rogue. "Hello tall, dark and beautiful."

"Wha?" Rogue turned her attention from Kitty to Bobby, before it turned to one of annoyance. "Get outta 'ere, Drake! I'm pissed off enough at the moment!" she shouted in her southern accent, her glare coming to rest on Kitty, who was glaring back with equal force.

Bobby looked crestfallen, and Kitty got an idea. She pushed Rogue into Bobby, the boy acting on reflex to catch her causing them to end up in a rather romantic position, with Bobby holding Rogue, who was under him, by her waist to prevent her from falling down. The 'couple' blushed, staring into each other's eyes, before Bobby's cold head finally realized his current situation.

"Gah!" Bobby yelled and immediately retreated his hands, causing Rogue to let out a small "Ugh!" and fall to the floor on her butt. Realizing what he had just done, Bobby freaked out and shouted. "O-Oh! I-I'm sorry, I, here let me help you up!" he offered his hand to Rogue, who pushed herself off the ground and dusted her clothes off, before slapping Bobby, huffing and storming away.

Kitty and Kurt were laughing in the background as Bobby let out an. "Aww, man!"

Here's my take on Bobby, done and ready to be reviewed. smile.gif Hope it works.

Oh and I added information about the "Bobby Drake Must Die" thread at the end of the History section which I found while stalking the forums. It was never finished, was it? So let's assume that he received that beating.

So here's to it getting reviewed and the fact that if I screw this up I only have one more shot left at it. biggrin.gif Cheers!

Hello. An important note to start off with, your account name should be 'Bobby Drake' as Bobby never really goes by Robert in Evo and the most commonly used version of the name is used for accounts.

That aside, we do not feel this interpretation of the character is consistent with IE's history of Bobby Drake and Evo. The animosity portrayed towards some characters is inaccurate (most notably Logan, but others in the rp sample as well), and there are other inconsistent traits such as the arrogance and the 'perverted behavior'. There are also various issues outside of character personality such as the powers. You have "He can lower his temperature from normal body temperature to -273 degree Celsius in a matter of seconds" but we already have on record Bobby's powers as "Within the span of a half of a second, Bobby can reduce his own temperature from 98.6 F to -105.7 F." from the adoption file, which is 37 C to -76 C. The random change is both unnecessary and unappreciable.

Overall we find disagreement in the fundamental characterization of this application and find it inconsistent to both Evo canon and IE established history, and thus unsuitable for IE. As such, the application is DENIED. This character may not be applied for again, but please feel free to apply with another character and a new application if you wish.
