Welcome to INTO THE WEST ! We are a medium/advanced-literate, short-app, Third Age, LOTR roleplaying forum. Here at INTO THE WEST, we want YOU to decide the chain of events that took place during the Third Age of Middle-Earth. The Fellowship to destroy the One Ring has just been formed, and it is now your job to decide what happens next.
You may take any path and route you would like to get to Mordor (and there are plenty), talk to anyone you would like to talk to on your journey there, create any relationships you'd like, and use any sources that are either given to you or that you have taken. If you have any questions about what you need to do, please do not be afraid to contact the admins! Again, welcome, and we hope you have fun here!
THE THIRD AGE OF MIDDLE-EARTH If you are a new member, please make sure you read the plot and races pages. If you don't read the plot, you won't understand what you need to do or write about.

GONDOR Gondor is the ancient kingdom of Men. It lies near Mordor. Gondor has long been ruled by Stewards since the death of the last King of Gondor. Denethor II is the current Steward. Aragorn is the last heir to Isildur and the throne of Gondor.
ROHAN Rohan is the kingdom of the Horse-Lords. They are known as the Rohirrim and also the Eorlingas. They are less refined Men than of Gondor, but their superior skill with horsemanship is well-known.
ITHILIEN Ithilien was once part of Gondor, but now with Sauron's return to power, it has been deserted and has become a no-man's land between Gondor and Mordor. The Gondorian Rangers of Ithilien operate within this land and monitor the movements of Sauron's allies and lead raids.

THE RIVER ANDUIN The River Anduin is also known as the Great River. It starts in the north in the Grey Mountains and flows south between the Misty Mountains and Mirkwood. Lothlórien also borders on the river. The river then flows between Gondor and Ithilien before emptying into the Bay of Balfalas.
RIVENDELL Rivendell is an Elven outpost in Middle-earth. It was established and ruled by Elrond, and it is located at the edge of a narrow gorge of the river Bruinen, but well hidden in the moorlands and foothills of the Misty Mountains. It is a refuge from the growing evil in Middle Earth.
LOTHLÓRIEN Lothlórien is a refuge for elves. It is the fairest forest realm of the Elves remaining in Middle-earth. Lothlórien is the home of Celeborn and Galadriel, who rule it.

MIRKWOOD Mirkwood was home to the Woodland Elves, but after 'the shadow of Dol Guldur' fell upon it, the elves were forced to move further northward. The shadow was the power of Sauron, who under a concealed identity established himself at the hill-fortress of Dol Guldur on Amon Lanc.
THE SHIRE The Shire is an area settled exclusively by Hobbits and largely removed from the goings-on in the rest of Middle-earth. It is located in the northwest of the continent, in the large region of Eriador and the Kingdom of Arnor.

IN THE NORTH To the North of the Shire are towns and taverns inhabited by a variety of Middle-earth creatures, including places like Bree, the Prancing Pony, and Weathertop.
MORIA Moria is the home of an ancient Dwarven mithril mine, comprising a vast network of tunnels, chambers, mines and huge halls that run under and ultimately through the Misty Mountains.
ISENGARD Isengard is Saruman's base of operations against the Rohirrim, and he defiled the valley, cutting down its trees, and damming the Isen. Isengard's valley has been destroyed by deep pits, used for breeding Uruk-hai and smithying weapons.
MORDOR Mordor is the realm of Sauron. It lies just to the east of Gondor. The three enormous mountains surrounding it both protect the land from an unexpected invasion by anyone living in those directions and keep those living in Mordor from escaping.

FANGORN FOREST Fangorn Forest is the home of the tree shepherds, the Ents. It is named after the oldest Ent, Treebeard. The Forest of Fangorn is located at the south-eastern end of the Misty Mountains near the Gap of Rohan.

IN THE SOUTH In the South are all desolate regions to the northwest of Mordor.
PASS OF CARADHRAS Caradhras is one of the mightiest peaks in the Misty Mountains. It stands above the Redhorn Gate, the only known surface route through the Misty Mountains between Rivendell and the Gap of Rohan. The great Dwarf palace of Khazad-dûm was built beneath it.
CELEBDIL Celebdil is a peak in the Misty Mountains, the western-most of three peaks that stands above the Dwarven city of Khazad-dûm. Durin's Tower is located at the peak of it.

FANUIDHOL Fanuidhol is also called Bundushathûr in Khuzdul. A peak in the Misty Mountains, it is the eastern-most of the three, with Caradhras and Celebdil, that stands above the Dwarven city of Khazad-dûm.
