The purpose of this list is to nullify anything that makes us lose combat. Frenzy/Hatred/Regeneration etc. Shadow lore with sorc banner ensures I get decent magic phases. Lack of a dispel scroll might hurt. Standard of Balance negates hatred and frenzy and ensures I don't fail some stupid fear/terror test or panic away. Flaming Banner decimates regeneration (hopefully after lowering their toughness or buffing my STR via shadow spells)
Lv 4 Archmage - Annulian Crystal - 4+ WS item (might drop)- Shadow Lore Noble - BSB - GW, Armor of Caledor, Guardian Phoenix 40 Spearmen (in bus to negate steadfast) -Flaming Banner 20 Sea Guard (bunker for mage and potentially the BSB) 30 Phoenix Guard (banner of Sorc) can go horde or bus formation 27 White Lions - Standard of Balance 10 Dragon Princes Most units have musician/standard, but few champs. It's near 2500, but might need some trimming. The bunker of Sea Guard is so that they can still contribute with shooting, while sticking back and protecting the lord. Might throw the +1ld banner on them. Very few drops. I am not sure how it will do (especially against Dwellers or Plague) but I built it primarily to counter Daemon Core Hordes (hatred/regen/asf daemonettes) and hordes of frenzied GW marauders. WL's and PG will probably go Horde to get the most damage while the mage weakens units, Mindrazors the s-elves and Pits the low INI units (Plaguebearer/Ogres). I main Skaven, so playing the nearly opposite will be a challenge. I found it difficult to make a HE list after being able to put anything I want in Skaven lists. My buddies play WoC/Daemons (rarely uses Greater Daemons, he thinks they are cheesy)/Ogre Kingdoms/VC and rarely Lizzies. I decided to dust off the High Elves and throw them into the field again. I will attempt to do a battle report once I get my first game in! Any comments would be greatly appreciated! Cheers! This post has been edited by Ijiasu on Feb 14 2012, 06:02 AM |

I see two weaknesses in your list, the first probably more significant than the second. The first is that you don't really have anything to hunt warmachines or small support units/lone mages. Your units are all nice big juicy targets for any warmachines and they will blow you apart. In fact, after the DP there is nothing at all above M5 so shooting armies in general may well trouble you.
The second problem (I guess ties a bit with the first) is you have very few support units. WL and DP can kill very well on their own, PG can at least hold out for a long time without dishing out a lot of pain, but SG and spears absolutely need support. A lion chariot or two would be helpful for that. As further support, one of reavers, shadow warriors (my favourite) or eagles would be good to get onto flanks. Still, it would be an impressive looking army on the table so if you do line up with that list, take a photo or two. |
