Greetings fellow gamers, in the tradition of Doom and, well, Doom. I've begun production on a game which I hope will change the way people think about gaming and G3D.
The title is going to be Slaughter, I think. I'm basically staring down the barrel of 3 months' holiday before uni so I've been programming 24/7 for the past week and I'll chuck up some screenshots when I have time.
At the moment the game size is pushing 100 megs so I'm going to be releasing a demo and maybe the full version by mail order.

At the moment I'm working on acquiring resources so sound effects, music ect would be appreciated if anyone can provide any links.
Cheers,
Captain Mangoes.

I know they sell packs for that sort of thing all over the place.

Googling just now I came across this: http://callofduty.filefront.com/file/Reali...Sound_Mod;80114

You got the sound affects for a machine gun. Not sure if its free to use, or from a pack he plans on selling. Just check around.

http://www.garagegames.com/developer/torque/contentpacks/
Garage Games sells some weapons packs that have gun sounds in them.

http://www.arteria3d.com/
Arteria sells 3D model packs, sound affects, and music packs.

There should be some "open source" "sound files" somewhere, if you search around for them.

Cheers, I'm checking that out right now.
I just registered gm 7 so I'll be playing with the tasty new features and tweaking the graphics engine. So the game'll be using a modified and hopefully improved version of gadget 3d extreme (the one with proper textures).

I'm looking at adding some simple vertex lighting, particles and textured models. I'm also keen to try out the 3d sound features.

The game size is so big because all the music I've got for it so far is encoded at the highest possible level. I'll obviously be making an Internet friendly demo once it's been developed some more.

Still no good original ideas for a storyline, I'm looking to make something original and unique.

So that's the progress so far.

Yeah I'll try and work out how to do that eventually.
I don't know which is slower, my computer or my internet connection.

And I've succeeded in adding a dynamic vertex lighting system to my modified g3d engine. Except now each wall, floor and ceiling object has to run a 64line piece of code each step.
Mind you, it hasn't slowed the game down much.
Ok, here's a screenshot

And here's another

Gonna have to bear with me on the dodgey quality of the pics, but in the game you can see the floor.
So that's the project at this point in time.

I've decided to switch the project over to ultimate 3D, which I really should have been using to begin with.
Here's a link to the game on Gamecake.

Further developments, I'm still porting everything over to u3d. This is taking a long time mainly because it involves a lot of modification of existing code and I'm really lazy. It has occured to me that since my new game engine is much more powerful than my old one then the game will probably have to be improved a lot.
I've come up with an idea for a storyline, it revolves around the legend of Lilith, the original woman who was created before eve but who forsook god and chose to mate with demons.
So the story is that one day Lilith inhabits this futuristic research station and gives birth to all these demons there and basically screws the place up. The main character is a soldier whose squad gets called in by a mayday call they get from the facillity. Of course the actual storyline is never explicitly mentioned, a favourite quote of mine was by one of the developers of Doom, "Storyline in games is like storyline in porn films, it's expected but not important."
