You can freely download, without any registration or other hassle, their free version. It has most of the features in their $99 commercial version, the only main difference is you can not sell any games you make with it.

But you can get it free, and if you successfully make a game with it, worthy of selling, you can then pay $99 and then release it.

If your game makes more than $200,000 dollars you have to pay them an additional $5,000, which is a nice deal.

The link also allows you to download and try out a demo, which has rooms featuring every aspects of the game engine. Click on the interface sign/screen/thingie in some rooms, and make enemies or other objects appear. You can make zombies, bugs, and robots appear in the skirmish room, set to either your team or the enemy, and watch them fight it out.

Internet connection problems earlier. Posting this now.

If you get an error such as System.IO.IOException: Access to the path 'Data\Maps\MainDemo\_StaticMeshCache' is denied, then run it in administration mode, and all works out just fine. With Vista, if ever there is a problem, that usually fixes it.

I played through various demos. There is a RTS demo which honestly they could have easily added to. Lay the GUI out in a nice organized manner like in most RTS games, and add in the ability to queue up units you are building, and whatnot.

You can built a mine over certain spots, as well as a building to make more constructors, and a building to make more robots. Robots go and fight, and constructors shoot your units constantly, with healing bullets apparently, that how you repair robot warriors.

I drove around in the tank demo, shooting robots, enemy tanks, and the well named destructible houses. One shot sets them on fire, a second shot blows them apart. Then you have what is called destructible ruins, but after firing awhile on it, I decided the labeler wasn't as skilled as I had thought. They are not destructible.

The arcade demo showed you could be a rabbit that picks up a hammer, and runs around smacking enemies with it. Uh huh. Not as fun or interesting as it sounds.
