They got a social world and a fantasy world up to test out.

red_no.gif No, I didn't like that at all. There was only one other person that briefly appeared when I was online, and the connection was rediculously slow.

For such a well funded product that was in developing for this long, I'd expect something decent. This would be a disappointment for a game made by a bored 6 year old in a single afternoon.

The graphics weren't impressive at all, them having as few trees as possible around so not to lag things down any more than they already were, they had only one town and it consistered of three people, two houses and an unclimbable watchtower.

What happened? I mean... Torque only cost $150 with the MMO-kit another $100 and it runs way way way WAY better than this. So, instead of spending large amounts of money and over a year developing Multiverse, they should've just bought a copy of that.

I'm in a sour mood now so might as well list some of my complaints.
  • You can walk through monsters, the brak actually completely over your scantly clad female human character.
  • Monsters don't come at you, unless you attack them, and even then they sometimes decide to walk off and ignore you instead.
  • You can not see the town until you are a few steps away from it.
  • When you complete a quest, it says "mob number 321321 can accept your quest now" or something like that. Load up the name of the person. Its a simple enough variable to access isn't it?
  • The kill a zombie, and trade its dust for a book quest, does not work. If you only have three quest, and one of them is broken, and its the only one you get a reward for, then you aren't ready for a public demo to show off your product yet.
  • Lag! I didn't see anyone out there until near the end when I saw one person in the town briefly. How can there be such lag?
  • Insanely long download time. At this time of the night, how many other people were downloading it? Slow as can be.
  • Only one character to choose from, and she isn't animated properly. Turning and whatnot... not done well at all.
  • When you hit spacebar you don't jump, but instead see the message "got jump" appear. WTF is that?
  • Combat involves doing absolutely nothing at all but watching you and your opponent take turns hitting each other, and it telling you how many points of damage each of you do.

A relationship is not an F-14 Tomcat. It doesn't cost as much, isn't as cool, and you can't kill people with it. So in situations where you'd try and save the F-14, such as an engine failure, or a funny warning light, or odd feeling, in the same situation in a relationship you should grab that yellow and black handle and pull like hell.

A couple more things:
  • Day and night cycles suck in any game. Why spend half of your time in a pointless dark environment, where you can't see anything?
  • When you die, you just lay there, staying dead. How can you test something when you character can die and game be over so easily?

I got the zombie dust for fireball tomb quest to work after I logged in again. It remembered I had the zombie dust in my backpack, but it didn't remember what quest I had in my log, or which ones I had already completed.

They now have a message when you start about it being in its preliminary stages, and not to judge it as it now. Look, if thats all you managed to accomplish with that budget, and that amount of time, just lay down and die already. You couldn't hire an artist to do proper animation for the main character, or give her a better face, in all that time? Plan ahead people. Don't just talk big if you can't deliver.

They went out of business of course, unable to make any money.

They did allow their source code to become open source though. You can find a project about that at http://www.multiversemmo.com/#
