Is this series worth a read? Like most people, I've found Garden of the Moons hard going so far. (About 220 or so pages in) His world-building seems first rate, but I can't see myself getting connected to these characters at all. (Tattersail's the only one I even remotely like. Most of them seem wafer-thin.)

I hear it takes a lot of inspiration from Glen Cook's Black Company series, which I've really liked (3 books in), so that gives me some hope.
