3/4 lb ground beef
3 mdm onions, chopped
1/3 cup pearl barley
2 cups tomato juice or diced tomatoes
1 rsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
3 carrots, diced
3 potatos, diced
3 ribs celery, diced,
1 qt water
Brown beef and onion in large pan, dainr off drippings. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer for 60 minutes until vegetables and barley are tender.
Variations: A 2 cups cut green beans and/or 2 cups sliced cabbage
