I gotta say, it really does help to see other peoples' ponds and how you handle all the little "issues" of maintaining a pond. I have little mosquito fish and ghost shrimp I try to keep out of my pump. I too clean my prefilter almost daily. My water's not green so I wish you luck with that Rosie. We are lucky for all the great help.

I have a 750 gallon pond that stays crystal clear most of the time. I bought 2 filters at the local Lowes or Home Depot store. Probably considered low quality filters but they work like champs. One has attached UV filter and the other has a separate inline UV filter. They both have bio balls and two sponges of course and fine density. When the sun hits the pond just right I can clearly see little pebbles on the bottom of the pond (5 feet deep).

Here are a couple of pics of my setup.

UGH!! I am about to loose my mind! wacko.gif My big pond is STILL pea soup and the little pond is crystal clear huh.gif Go figure that! Noting I have done has helped, NOTHING!! I have used Ponzyme, Barley Peat, & most recently I put in Microb-lift, I am getting no results, except the pond is getting greener if that's even possible. This has been the absolute worst year for me with this pond, it has never stayed green this long & it isn't even in full sun anymore the tree is doing a good job of shading it.

I am now taking Dave's advice & looking for a UV sterilizer & I need recommendations please. I have kind of narrowed it down to a Cal pump 9 watt or a Tetra Green free 9 watt. I choose the 9 watt because my pond is max 700 gal. that should be enough I think? They are both in line, outside of the bio filter. I have read to install it AFTER the bio filter, I know that is what Robyn suggests on her site & others I have looked at. I just want to be sure either one of these will work for me. What do you all think?

Yes, my in-line is after the filter. And the built-in UV is also after the filter, just before returning to the pond.

Probably Pondsmart. It's the brand that Lowes and Home Depot sells the most.
