Hi All
How many of you have heard of the reverse flow system of filtering your Aquarium?
To do it you must have an external filter, then rather than hving the filtered water go direct into the top of the tank you redirect it down through into your under gravel filter where it goes along he bottom of the tank then up through the gravel.
What you are in essence doing is turning the gravel into a second filter using the gravel as a type of bio filter.
Val and I have been successfully using it on our newt tank 2 x 2 x 2 for many years now.
The water has always been crystal clear and the only maintenace that really needs doing is the odd gravel clean and water change.
I think weve cleaned the filter about once every two years now and even then it's been near as damn it clean.
It also works very well for fish especially those that need a still tank surface to breed like that of the Siamse fighting fish who use a bubble nest to have their young.
It's pretty simple to adapt to this meathod, why not give it a try
