Hi Robyn,

I am currently in the process of starting my first brackish water fish tank, and I am only a beginner. I would like to fill my tank with native fish from the Potomac river watershed, but I only have a 25 gallon tank available to me.

Do you have any suggestions for fish or plant life that would work in a tank of about 5-10 ppt salt? Or perhaps some other resources that might offer helpful suggestions for starting a brackish tank?

Thanks so much,

Welcome to the forum!

I have never had a brackish tank myself. You would do best to contact people who are in to native fish tanks, especially for brackish fish. Try
The other links I have on my site have all gone bye-bye!
I know more about native freshwater fish than native brackish water fish.

Good luck!

I know this thread is a bit old but blennies, gobies, and clingfish do great in a small brackish tank, I have yet to meet a person that had success with plants in one though, myself included...
