i'm in the market for a pond deicer, since this is my first time buying one. what is a good brand? and what size wattage should i get for a 1000 gallon pond? there's so many to choose from! i'm getting dizzy trying to find one that's reliable and powerful for my pond. any advice would be welcomed!

I use this one:
http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/196626/product.web I've been using the same model since 1997 but buy new ones every few years. This model may cost more than others to use but it's strong. If you want a cheaper de-icer (as for electricity), get one of a smaller wattage and put an air stone underneath it. Air stones really help keep holes open. -------------------- Robyn, Former Analytical Chemist, Zone 6/7, Maryland

Kevin, I use the same one for my ponds I get them from Tractor Supply for $29.99, the only difference is the color, mine are blue & they work well.
