This tank is massive, it is 26 feet from the left side to the right side and 12 1/2 from front to back. It's enough room to fit a two car garage, lol. The tank holds 10,000 gallons of water. It weighs 10,000 lbs on it's own, holds 80,000 lbs of water, 15,000 lbs of gravel, 3,000 lbs of drift wood, totaling 198,000 lbs.

It cost $100,000 to build, $50,000 to stock it with fish, and $2,000 a month to maintain.

Check out the video, http://animal.discovery.com/videos/most-ou...e-aquarium.html

Wowee! I can't even play the video at work, and the tank sounds amazing. Why does it cost $2000 a month to maintain? Is that for hired help to clean it? Or, just water conditioners, filter materials, etc.?

Well i would say electric- the filtration looks nuts x.x feeding, no help. He has two giant arapaimas.

Feed fish twice a day....10-15lbs of frozen fish in the evening, didnt say what else he fed them but he does mention feeding vegetables.

I finally saw the video at home. Wow! Boy, that tank looks overstocked because the fish are so huge! If I had a mega tank, I'd rather have a lot of smaller fish than just a few larger fish.

The arapaimas have some infected sores on the fronts of their mouths. I wonder if some of their cost goes towards treatments?

Hi Robyn
Yes we noticed that too and wonder if he treats in the aquarium or catches them and puts them into a large QT unit.?

I think it looks very overstocked. In my opinion even 10,000 gallons is not enough room for a few arapaima - I would personally go for something much larger with far lower stocking.

The Cichla in there are great looking though.
