Final Haven Weyr is a Weyr created by the hatred humans show towards things that are different for centuries, even before they came to live on Pern.

The Beginning

Everything began with the Hatching of a Green who wasn't a Green in Benden Weyr by the name of Vilinath. A sweet tender creature, she was split down the middle by two colors, the right side of her being of jade green while the left was a shimmering gold. This gorgeous creature did not have the luxury of living as long as she could have, nor the comfort of being accepted by her Weyr. At her firestone lesson with Hers she refused to chew the stone and never did. At the age of only 11 months she Rose and became heavy with egg a short time later after being Caught by a Bronze. The Weyrleader was horrified, never before had a Green Rose and become laden with egg, it was impossible and unfortunately for the young pair they were exiled from Benden Weyr.

The Exiled Egg

The pair travelled long and far, only learning to Between a short time ago, but Vilinath's Own, H`ilnal, denied her that for she would lose the miracle within her if she did. The pair was on their own until they arrived at Fort...just as Vilinath came into her time to lay her clutch...a single large egg, larger than a normal Gold egg. The strain of laying the egg was too intense for the small green...she was too young and small and passed Between with her last bit of strength, but Hers did not follow and instead lay with the egg, despite the heat of the Sands. H`ilnal was viciously protective over the egg, and even though the Fort Queen wished it destroyed due to her own clutch on the Sands he would not allow anyone or thing near it and as time passed, as the egg incubated it was forgotten, H`ilnal was forgotten...until it Hatched.

The day the mysterious Green-Laid egg Hatched there was another Hatching present, including a Queen egg which Hatched and Impressed. As people began to move to leave, as newly Bonded Weyrlings moved off to feed Theirs, the newly Hatched Greens and the Greens present at the Hatching began to hum and sing, hunger forgotten as their eyes turned to the egg H`ilnal's lifeless body lay around. No one knew why the Greens sang, nor understood why the new Gold raised her own voice, though reluctantly, in song until a pure high alto rang through the Caverns and a young boy stepped out onto the Sands from the Stand, singing a song none had ever heard before. The child was only nine, too young to Impress too small and thin to be a Candidate...this boy was a Harper Apprentice by the name of Gorfintin, son of the Fort Hold Lord. As the boy approached the egg it began to shake and tremble almost violently as he sung louder, higher until he hit such a pitch that the egg practically exploded to reveal a true sight to behold.

The Appearance of New Life

What appeared from that egg was a dragonet twice the size of any newly hatched Gold. The dragonet was so very dark is was nearly black, but in actuality it was a deep rich purple tone. Its wings were incredibly large in comparison to their body, making their first movements both clumsy and yet elegant as it moved from its egg to stare into the young boy's eyes. Whirling blue eyes stared down into the boy's own tear filled eyes as he heard a soft but powerful voice fill his mind. A beautiful voice you have, Mine. Will you sing with me often? Gorfintin could only nod silently before the dragonet leant forward and nuzzled against him, crooning happily. I am happy, GorfintinMine. I am your Siren Queen, Rugalith. When Gorfintin announced this there was...pandamonium, there was no such thing as a Siren, this creature was an abomination...these were the beliefs of the Fort Hold Lord and the Senior Queen who in turn was still very young herself at only nineteen. However, their desire to be rid of both Bondeds was interrupted by the Weyrleader N`tunv of Bronze Urlith, barely out of Weyrling training a turn, who informed the Weyr that regardless of what fears they had a dragonet and child could not be killed or abandoned...and so the pair was allowed to stay within Fort.

Life for the Bonded pair was not easy, if not for the Weyrleader Gorfintin and Rugalith would have never been allowed to attend Weyrling Training. As the two grew over the course of a turn many things changed. For one thing Gorfintin had to end his Harper Apprenticeship and deal with his father practically disowning him due to his Impression to a 'False Queen'. Gorfintin was always small and soft spoken but with his Rugalith he began to open up and befriend and small number of riders and weyrlings around him, a small number of them following the direction of the Siren instead of that of either the new Junior Queen or that of the Senior Queen.

The Change of Lives

Turns passed and Rugalith never Rose. Fort calmed its apprehension about the 'False Queen' for no True Queen would never Rise. Ten turns after Rugalith's Hatching the life of everyone changed dramatically. One day in the middle of the Dining Hall Gorfintin froze, dropping what he was holding and began to sing. No one knew why until a drudge ran to, exclaiming that the False Queen was Rising. Every male dragon from weyrling to the more experienced took Flight after the vibrant creature, many having to drop off due to the intensity of the Flight...however, after five hours Rugalith chose, allowing Bronze Urlith to Catch her. The Senior Queen was enraged, a sevenday had passed and her weyrmate, HER Bronze, refused to return to her side because of his desire for the Siren and in her rage, attacked the Siren as she basked in the sun one day. As the two Queens fought the two riders entered into a confrontation of their own. Gorfintin was still young only nineteen and still small in stature. The two Queens called for aid from their 'court' and due to her experience the Gold won out over the Siren, all colors came to her aid to drive the Siren away, though not everyone agreed. Urlith attacked her former weyrmate, giving Rugalith time to locate and spirit away her Own and flee the Weyr, though she did not leave alone. Former Fort Weyrleader N`tunv and his Bronze Urlith accompanied her along with twenty other riders and Theirs; 3 Bronze, 5 Blue, 3 Brown, and 9 Green.
