CHARACTER BIO: Specter the Hedgehog

LAST UPDATED: 09/02/2006

NAME: Specter

SPECIES: Genetically enhanced hedgehog

GENDER: Male

WEAPONS:

-Scythe- A short (relatively long for a 3 1/2 foot hedgehog) single-bladed scythe with spearpoints on both ends of the black-metal rod

-Granserena- Named after an ancient mantra of darkness, this scythe is unquestionably one of Specter's finest creations. Visibly, it appears similar to his ordinary scythe (see above) with the exception of bearing a double-blade instead of a single one (much like the Gundam Deathscythe Hell). However, it is much more than it seems: the blades and spearpoints are made from an alloy of Dreamstone and Magic-Plus Materia, a dynamic combination that brings the Dreamstone's innate power to a whole new level. Specter infused Granserena with a sentient dream-entity not unlike the infamous Masa and Mune, but bearing several important differences. The entity, named Sere, embodies the full power of the Granserena and can be called forth (at the temporary expense of the scythe itself; Granserena disappears and Sere takes its place) as a summon creature (See Summons for more info). Granserena's primary effect on Specter is to increase the power of his magic attacks and slightly increase the power of his transformations. The scythe itself is surprisingly lightweight, and glowing black runes will appear on the blades whenever Specter casts a magic attack.

{The following was written by Baldur Terralventhe, who made the original design for the weapon and then gave it to Specter} A fearsome piece of work, this scythe - three feet long - is forged using the sharpened and chiselled teeth of dragons. A design that sets it aside from most scythes is the defining extra blade protruding from the back, along with the pike-end at the top. To top it all off, the weapon then has a small scyth at the bottom of its handle. All three upper blades are sharpened on both the lower and upper halves, making them able to cut not only those within the swing, but also for those on the outer reaches of the scythe.
Known as Wyrmbite for its blades, this weapon was forged by dwarves during the war against dragons in ancient times. The fang used for the main blade was taken from one of the ancient dragon lords of that time, who cursed his killers and whatever they might steal from him after his death. This curse was ignored by the dwarves, until it was realized through the scythe's creation, as it called to it hordes upon hordes of dragons who sought vengeance for their fallen lord. The dwarves fought valiantly, before eventually succumbing to the overwhelming number of dragons attacking. Since then, the scythe has been passed down by dragons as an artifact to commemorate the vengeance exacted for the dragon lord.
Wyrmbite is a lethal weapon in the hands of an experienced scythe user. Most are unable to wield it properly, due to its numerous blades, which often result in the wielder injuring himself rather than his enemies. The blades are all razor-sharp, with a 75% chance of severing a person's limb upon striking them. This is also another reason for it being hard to wield, as those who fumble with it often end up losing an arm or a leg. An enchantment that comes with the scythe is a great amount of increase in the wielder's speed, offering as thus an opportunity to do battle faster than normally. The curse of the scythe remains still, however, as whatever dragons within a 30km radius will instinctively chase down and attack the wielder on sight. However, since the weapon is created more for the slaying of dragons than anything else, the wielder is also at a battle advantage while using the scythe.

-Triskellion Kagirinai- A legendary sword, one of thirteen Triskellion blades formed by Avergon in ancient times. The history of the blade goes all the way back to the ancient War of Heaven, when the fallen angels of Armodos were cast down into the realms of mortals and many of them imprisoned within various universes. The Triskellion Kagirnai is, like all thirteen such swords, a "summon blade" linked to one of thirteen dragons. Specter's Triskellion is especially important because of the dragon: Shizukesa is the immortal dragon given the task to guard time itself, and is inexorably linked to the energy of the time-space continuum. The sword itself is a katana in its shape and design, lightweight enough to be wielded by Specter in his hedgehog form and long enough to be useful and effective for his humanoid form: the blade is the color of liquid mercury with ancient runes etched in thin glowing blue lines on both sides, with the handguard made from a shining metallic silver metal and the handle wrapped in numerous layers of tightly woven black fabric (providing a formidable grip on the weapon, making it difficult to remove from Specter's hands). Due to the nature of the Triskellion Kagirinai, it is useless for anyone other than Specter to attempt to wield the sword; those who try would think the sword had become molten lava in their hands, burning both flesh and spirit at the slightest touch.

{Triskellion concept by Kurina Kurai; Specter gained the Triskellion Kagirinai as part of joining her clan 'Triskellion Brandished'}

ITEMS / EQUIPMENT:

-Dark Magi Armor- Made in the likeness of the apparel worn by the shadowmage Magus, the Dark Magi Armor includes a navy-blue cape and dark-gray metallic upper body armor that ends at the waist, shoulders, and the neckline. The material that the cape is woven from creates a natural protective aura around its wearer, reducing damage from magic and any type of energy by 25%. The armor is a sturdy material developed by the Kingdom of Zeal and refined by Specter to provide protection during intense physical combat. It is mostly lightweight, but what weight it does possess can slow Specter down by between 5% and 10% while also hindering some of his more speed-requiring battle moves; on the flip side, the armor's special characteristic is that it blocks every kind of normal status ailment (poison, confusion, slow, stop, etc.) and guards against life or magic draining. In Zeal Kingdom armor made from this material was known as Nova Armor, but Specter's enhancements and modifications more than merit the special name. The cape and the armor are magically bonded as one piece, and only significant destructive force can separate them.

-Power Inhibitor- Built as a restraining device that could, in theory, render powerless even the most powerful of warriors, the Power Inhibitor is a small circular golden crystal set in a ring of smooth black metal; when in physical contact with any living being the metal will swiftly form tendrils and attempt to latch onto its victim. The crystal will drain away nearly all of the victim's power down to the point of ordinary human strength, using the energy to protect itself from being broken. Energy will be stored inside the crystal; excess energy will be released by the crystal as a harmless luminance or glow. This device once restrained even Specter himself when he was captured by the Dagdan soldiers of the Concordat of Worlds and sentenced to life in the catacombs of the prison world Akanaduras. Even though he knew everything about the device, escape would have been impossible if not for the aid of an old ally who shattered the crystal with a powerful stroke from her sword. Specter has since rebuilt the original device and is working on duplicating it.

-Weighted Clothing- The metallic securing straps for his boots and the metal ring inside the neck of his cape are both made from a very dense metal that Specter cast a weight-increasing spell on. This has the same effect as the weighted clothing seen in DragonBall and DragonBall Z: wearing it intensifies the strength needed to perform most actions (making it very useful for physical training and strength enhancement) and upon removing the weighted clothing items the fighter becomes substantially stronger and faster than they were while wearing the clothing. In Specter's particular case the benefits are enhanced by the weight-increasing spell, making the training more intense and the gains more substantial, especially in terms of his footspeed and agility. This does not effect his magic abilities at all, since they are unrelated to physical strength. Innate physical dexterity/defense is also unaffected.

APPEARANCE:
user posted image
Specter has dark-crimson eyes, dark-purple body color with azure-blue streaks (like Shadow the Hedgehog), wears leather gloves and leather boots with a metal securing strap, also has a dark-red cape.

SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS: The scientist who created Specter estimated that his body contained approximately two-fifths dormant human DNA in each cell, meaning that despite appearances Specter isn't biologically identical to Shadow. What that scientist didn't know was that it wasn't just any human DNA, and that it had already effected Specter's development drastically: it was the DNA of the Dark Prince of Zeal, the shadowmage Magus at his prime. And similar to what happened with the young Zealean Prince, Specter's true power slept dormant within him for a long time until it was awakened by a burst of Chaos Energy. In truth, Specter possesses a far greater potential than even he realizes; the effective combination of Shadow's "ultimate lifeform" biology and Magus's dark powers is only the surface of it, but grants him numerous attributes that make him a dangerous and worthy foe. His body, just as with Shadow, is biologically engineered to an incredible level: he can survive for long periods of time in even a total void, needing almost no oxygen to live, and his body can survive extreme circumstances (like falling through the atmosphere totally unprotected, as Shadow did at the end of Sonic Adventure 2). He also possesses a superior mind, a combination attribute from Shadow and Magus. From Magus Specter gained a strong resistance to magic and extremely powerful abilities as a mage, as well as his unusual and ominous ability to sense the Black Wind. It should be noted also that, since Specter is a unique type of lifeform (a "Fusion Quantum Clone" so-to-speak) it is very possible he will develop attributes and abilities that surpass both Magus and Shadow... but to some degree, that remains to be seen.

COMBAT EXPERIENCE / ATTRIBUTES OF NOTE: Since his inception as a forum-based sparring character at Unrivaled, Specter has done battle with a number of powerful individuals and gained a lot of fighting experience. Some of the more noteworthy names include the Jerrican holy warrioress Kurina Kurai, the somewhat-psychotic sado-mahonistic fallen-god-turned-vampirelord Foreseti, the undead demonic mercenary Tzuma, and most recently the infamous "Terror in the Warp" the Zerg Cerebrate Akela and his equally-infamous creation, the Spinolisk (this battle is still in process). All that to say this: Specter is no amateur, and has in fact held his own with entities and individuals capable of wiping out entire civilizations without breaking a sweat. Through his own personal training (revolving mostly around fighting a holographic duplicate of himself in an enhanced-gravity room in his Sanctuary) Specter has risen above his own limitations and is continually working to perfect his fighting style and identify his own weaknesses (through fighting the holographic duplicate). He has also spent time using the training facilities at his dojo to push his limits physically and mentally, and rumor speaks of a secret training location called Deathshadow Valley where Specter sometimes goes to intensify his mental training and further focus his magic abilities. Although vulnerable to ordinary weapons, Specter is generally only succeptable to either overwhelming power or highly skilled opponents; anything less barely stands a ghost of a chance if he goes all-out.

PERSONALITY: Specter is clearly an introvert by nature, yet very attentive and intellectual when he needs to be. He posseses a tactical mind and a stern temperment, refusing to show any emotion except in the most extreme of circumstances, or when with his most trusted companions. However, beneath the frigid exterior, Specter adheres to his own somewhat undefined code of chivalry: he will kill only if attacked and/or only if nessessary, cannot turn his back on those truly in need or in danger, has a strong disdain for injustice,... and cowardice gets on his nerves. Big time. When not fighting, training, or traveling (he's done quite a bit of all three) he tends to return to his Sanctuary Between Worlds and tinker with forging magical items. Inventions to date include a complete set of artificial Chaos Emeralds (long since destroyed, unfortunately), a Power Inhibitor, the Granserena scythe and Magi Armor, and several other secret projects that have yet to see the light of day.

LINGUISTICS / IMPORTANT POINTS OF NOTE: Over the years, I've had contact with a number of roleplayers / sparrers who've made a number of false assumptions about Specter. This section of the bio will, hopefully, deal with most those assumptions and provide a more accurate picture of the way I wish Specter to be represented.
Specter is not easily angered. Even though he has a Magus/Vegeta-esque disposition, Specter is most always level-headed... even when insulted or taunted. To get him truly angry you'd have to do merciless harm to someone he cares about or do something depraved like wipe out an entire populated city for your own amusement. He won't throw a fit or kill you for calling him a pipsqueak, weakling, rodent, etcetera. Even referring to him as a "mageling" {*glances at a certain scimitar-wielding elf*) will only at most annoy Specter.
Specter is not a fight-monger. Fighting, whether in tournaments or on adventures, is one of Specter's talents and hobbies; IT IS NOT HIS LIFE. He does not care about the prestige or attention his reputation associates with him, nor would he consider fight challenges a personal insult or an attack on his self-worth. In short, Specter doesn't define himself by his combat abilities, magical or otherwise. He'd forfeit or just plain leave in the middle of a tournament if something of almost any, even slight, importance came up.
Specter is not driven by Darkness. I capitalized the "d" in "darkness" for a good reason. Anyone who knows who Ansem is (if you don't know, look him up) knows that the guy practically worships darkness, and was corrupted by it. First off, Specter's not like him; his powers are only "dark" by description, and NOT the opposite of Holy. There is nothing cultic, sinister, etcetera, about Specter's magic, since it is derived from Chrono Trigger wherein most magic power is based on personality & strength of the heart, and exists as an impersonal natural force. Plus, on many occasions in the past Specter has freely done battle with "dark" evil spiritual beings (I.E.: demons of various kinds) simply on principle.
Specter's manner of speech is definitely not the modern-day middle-class style; nor does he drone on in 'Ye Olde English' like a reading from a King James Bible (although he will occasionally throw in a condescending "thou" if you've gotten him really annoyed). It is a rare day indeed, perhaps once in a lifetime, that Specter would use any kind of modern cussword; instead, he usually would throw out a taunting line he's memorized from an archaic language (Latin, Elvish, or some long-forgotten tongue), employ the many-use Shakespearean curse word "fie!" or the variant "feh!", or give you a Magus-esque "Hmph!" or " . . . ". Specter can seem aristocratically/intellectually arrogant if he doesn't know you & doesn't respect you, using those ten-dollar words college professors would underline and highlight in the dictionary to give off a wiser-than-thou impression, but that's only if you didn't take the cue from his initial ominous silence and/or short, cold replies. To people he's acquainted with or not unfriendly towards, Specter frequently seems distant and self-isolated; chiming into conversations and activities at just the right moment to let you know he's been listening carefully despite not making eye contact, answering questions with only a gaze or a gesture, seemingly staring off into space while you pester him with this question or that concern, etcetera. These are his usual behaviors in "normal" circumstances, and are not immune to situation-induced exceptions. ALSO OF NOTE: even though Specter isn't technology-minded or fluent in higher-level math, he has a certain general familiarity with science and a practical interest in things like quantum theory and the manipulation of time-space.
Finally: if you misspell Specter (EX: "Spector", "Spectre", "Spectar"), I will let you know. After I've done so, if you stubbornly continue using your misspelled version of my character's name, YOU SHALL SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES!!

IMPORTANT LOCATIONS:

-Sanctuary Between Worlds- During his early travels between universes, Specter stumbled upon a small "pocket" of dimensional stability that was unlinked to any universe; essentially a "sphere" of undefined existence that was capable of supporting physical matter. This "pocket" realm also contained large clouds of a substance Specter refers to as "semi-matter": an ethereal cosmic material with no true nature of its own, existing in a state somewhere between energy, matter, and anti-matter. Specter discovered that he could use his powers to "sculpt" this semi-matter with relative ease, transforming it into solid material while shaping and defining it at his will. Over time he was able to construct a massive, maze-like stone castle floating on an island-like hunk of foundational ground (see the picture on the opening page of the site for visual illustration) and dubbed it his Sanctuary. This is where Specter stores everything he doesn't carry with him, including his inventions, weapons, and a supply of medial supplies (both magic-based and normal). The Sanctuary also has a handful of bedrooms and guestrooms in one of the wings, an impressive dining hall (should Specter ever bring food for any reason), endless corridors filled with hidden traps and secret passages (most of which either lead to traps or more endless corridors), a large chamber for training, a courtyard-like garden with cherry blossom trees and stained-glass windows designed by Perg Vexx,... and an isolated chamber that no door or hallway or secret passage leads to. It is there, withing the hidden core of the Sanctuary, that Specter keeps all the items of greatest value to him: his scythe, the Triskellion Kagirinai, and his other inventions, trinkets, and relics. Everything within this room can be summoned by Specter at a moment's notice, although it is rare indeed that he summons anything other than his scythe. There are other things here, of course, and certain other enchantments and protections,... but these will remain undeclared here, so as to ensure the safety of this most sacred place.

-Mountaintop Dojo-

"The dojo sat upon a high mountaintop, constantly enshrouded in a thick, dark fog. Its master had intended it that way, to shield it from the eyes of the world and allow the privacy needed for true combat training...
The main entryway was a thick oaken double-door, polished and set into a long, high wall of black stone. Both the door and the wall were ornately decorated, the door embossed with delicate scrollwork patterns resembling many long intertwined ribbons and the wall covered in archaic runes too ancient to be translated by any except the greatest of sages. Above the archway of the door, a phrase in English was written in deep black letters: Ye Who Seek the Warrior's Might, Enter Boldly Here.
The doorway lead directly to a path that ran down the middle of two reed-grown fishponds that were fed by small waterfalls jutting out of the stone walls. At the other end of the ponds sat a massive, castle-like building that reached upwards towards the sky in a shape not too dissimilar from the mountain upon which it stood. The building, made of the same polished black stone as the walls, was ringed with balconies on each floor that circled the entire construct and, at the very top, a lone flat-topped tower stood overlooking the entire area. The dojo's main doorway, with the inscription of Ye Who Seek Power, Enter First Here directly above it, lead immediately inside to a long hallway and a small room. All other areas of the building were accessible, not by the main entrance, but only through climbing onto one of the balconies. Yet the small, undecorated room, was the beginning place..."
It is here that Specter will take students whom he wishes to train up as fighters, warriors, and/or mages. Unlike the Sanctuary, the dojo exists in a very real geographic location... but Specter likes to keep that location somewhat secret. Like the Sanctuary, though, the dojo has its share of surprises, even containing chambers deep in the heart of the mountain. But I digress...

SPECIAL ATTACK POWERS: (after first three, in order of least-powerful to most-powerful)
Thunder Storm: A lightning-magic attack that bursts forth from the user and quickly engulfs an entire large area, able to hit multiple opponents at once. Specter can modify this attack's form dependent on the circumstances

Fire Storm: A fire-magic attack that starts as a wave of crimson heat that fills the immediate area or battlefield near-completely, swiftly becoming a raging whirlwind of flames as thick as a wave of volcano magma. Specter can modify this attack's form dependent on the circumstances

Arctic Storm: An ice-magic attack where the user launches a spread of ice-blue energy particles from his/her hand and, upon contact with any solid or semi-solid surface, erupt into a fierce winter storm designed to freeze everything in a large area completely solid. Specter can modify this attack's form dependent on the circumstances

Life Mist: Realizing the value of healing techniques, Specter developed this technique to be able to restore his or another person's physical stamina and heal moderate wounds. Like most healing techniques, it takes a short period time for Life Mist to have its full effect, and is thereby useful only during a pause in combat

Nightshade: Specter's most basic shadow-magic attack, this is a precision one-target attack far more powerful than the three Storm attacks. Essentially, a black and dark-blue lightning bolt bursts from Specter's open palm and streaks towards a single enemy on an erratic zigzagging course that makes it difficult to block or evade

Prism Shield: Specter's primary defensive technique. A gem-shaped field of prism-like energy surrounds Specter's body and can deflect most powerful magic/energy attacks and almost any physical attack

Ice Daggers: One of Specter's recently acquired tactics, this less-powerful variation of Arctic Storm is used simply to form a set of up to three dagger-sharp icicles in each of Specter's hands, used mostly for throwing purposes. Not a very powerful attack, unless it's paired up with...

Shadow Snap: The purpose behind the Ice Daggers is this, the attack that makes enemies say "oh snap!". On contact with the shadow cast by a target, these daggers hold it - and its bearer - fast and pinned down. For instance, a dagger to the shadow's foot would make the bearer unable to move his/her foot even an inch; a dagger to the chest or waist of the shadow generally renders targets immobile from the hips down. Hands can only be immobilized directly. This particular spell was originally gleaned by Specter during a visit to the world where sorceress Lina Inverse lives, and when employed properly it can completely change the course of a battle. There are ways to neutralize Shadow Snap's effects,... but I'm not telling!

Shadow Flare: This is a small-area shadow-magic attack that, very simply, involves Specter launching a wisp of blue flame from his hand at a target. The flame explodes into a dark-magic ball of inferno on contact

Dark Wind: A shadow-magic attack that involves creating a magic "black wind storm" that slowly drains enemies of their strength and slightly weakens enemy magic attacks

Anti-Matter: Specter's most powerful technique to date, so unique that it can't be clearly classified as shadow-magic or any other element. It involves summoning an amount of the most volatile substance in existence (purified high-density antimatter) within a magic containment field which is then used to “safely” radiate the antimatter’s destructive nature all over the battlefield. It's appearance is that of a clockwise-spinning triangle (2 dimensional appearance; it looks like a perfect triangle from every angle you'd look at it) of anti-matter that inverts the colors of everything around for a mile (it also inflicts massive damage on any living thing it touches, attacking not their body but their life energy directly), with a smaller glowing white triangle spinning counter-clockwise at its center. When the attack reaches critical mass, usually 5 to 6 seconds after it's activated, the Anti-Matter de-stabilizes and a massive flash of darkness happens as the attack does large-scale area damage and reduces any non-living matter within (at minimum) 70 feet to a silver-colored energy-drained particle dust. 70 feet is when the Anti-Matter attack is in its smallest, most condensed form; at maximum power Anti-Matter can erase an entire planet from existence, leaving only dust. Like all of Specter's other attacks, however, he himself is protected from all but slight damage and he can keep allies safe from most damage as well. While allies, bystanders, and other non-targets remain unharmed (but quite possibly shocked or fearful), targeted enemies will be feeling effects none too different from a lethal dose of radiation, or sometimes (particularly weaker enemies) get their body reduced to a sterile silver dust.
However, Anti-Matter has an even more deadly side to it. If Specter decided to “detonate” the pure antimatter, or if someone foolishly attacked Specter and K.O.ed him during the spell, the containment field would vanish. Unprotected, once the pure antimatter touched matter (even air particles or dust), it would begin an uncontrolled explosion that could rip apart even the largest planet. No one, enemy or ally, would be safe.

(Scientific Note: For those who don't know, anti-matter is a real thing. Scientists estimate that anti-matter is one of the rarest elements in our universe, due to its destructive nature: when matter and anti-matter touch, they neutralize each other in a violent burst of energy that (proportionately) makes the atomic bomb look weak. The only reason Specter's Anti-Matter attack doesn't generate a mass explosion on that scale is because of its nature as a magic attack; the damage is there, but it is confined and limited.)

OTHER SPECIAL POWERS:

Flight: The most basic of Specter's special powers is the ability to defy gravity with ease and agility that outclasses even the best fighter jet or guided missile. If you've never seen this basic power at work, you haven't watched enough anime during your lifetime. Go watch some DragonBall Z or, better yet, just think back to good ol' Superman and you'll have a fair idea of how it works.

Teleportation: Specter's skill of teleportation is mostly short-range only, limited to a dozen miles or so at a use. His body, and/or whatever the targeted person(s) or object(s) are, emit a small flash of black energy and then vanish, re-appearing at the target destination with a similar but far less noticeable flash.

Portal Summoning: Specter's primary means of long-distance transportation is to summon site-to-site magic portals into existence. The portals generally appear as a "hole" between the two locations ringed in dark black, blue, and purple fog-like energy, hovering stationary wherever Specter calls them into being. This can be used as a battle technique, but it takes concentration and a moderate expenditure of energy.

Shadow Shift: A stealth technique relying moderately on the surroundings, a Shadow Shift causes Specter's appearance to become monotone dark and about seventy-percent translucent. Needless to say, this is most effective if the surrounding area is dark as well and can be neutralized effectively if the defending opponent can sense/see heat or ultraviolet/infrared light spectrums.

Mental Link: While studying archaic magic documents, Specter learned the secrets of mind-linking and has since trained extensively in its use. Much of this skill's applications are passive, and can even provide healing or aid in various ways, but it can also be used to forge a mental "battle field" where the presence of the mind becomes translated as a mental avatar of the self and the power of psyche and soul outweigh all fighting ability. However, this is usually a tactic of last resort because the user's body is immobile and defenseless as long as the link remains stable; this does not necessarily apply to the other person unless they choose to reinforce the link and engage Specter on equal terms, but otherwise the major effect is the translation of damages in the mental battlefield into pain and anguish for the physical body. A complete KO would most likely induce a coma.

SPECIAL ATTACK MOVES:
Spin Attack: your basic Sonic-style spinning move

Homing Spin Attack: usually involves Specter jumping at least slightly off the ground, this attack is the basic Spin Attack except it homes in on enemies, even if they're in the air. Specter has also developed a powerful variation on the standard Homing Spin Attack, the Homing Spin Kick: at the last minute before the Homing Spin makes contact with its target, Specter pulls his body out of the spin and delivers a roundhouse kick that focuses all the momentum and damage of the Homing Spin into a single point of contact. The results can be devastating.

Blade Storm: A boomerang- style scythe-throwing technique enhanced by magic, causing the scythe to home in on Specter once it begins the returning part of its flight.

Mirror Image: Specter creates seven optical illusions of himself that are able to move around and seem very alive. They cannot damage an enemy, however, and will destabilize in a puff of black vapor if they receive even the smallest damage

TRANSFORMATIONS:
Super Form
(Essentiallyjust like Super Sonic / Super Shadow. Specter's Super Form turns his dark-purple coloring into a kind of neon blue / silver shade that glows slightly. Specter can achieve Super Form and all his other transformations on his own power, without the aid of an outside power source like the Chaos Emeralds)
Humanoid Form
user posted image
(some power transfers from speed/evade to attack/defense. Visually, think Magus with short hedgehog hair)
Super Humanoid Form
(just like above, except with neon blue hair, silverish-gray clothing, and faintly bigger muscles)
Chaotic Archangel
(a variation/upgrade of the regular Super Form that can be transferred to either normal Super or Super Humanoid, Chaotic Archangel is not so much of a transformation as a speed power-up technique. Some of Specter's energy takes on the form of a pair of large blue-flame wings, fading into near invisibility where they are an inch or so from being connected to his back. This "transformation" not only increases his speed but unleashes a whole new spectrum of attack possibilities using the wings. Being a relatively new technique, Specter has yet to truly test Chaotic Archangel to its full potential...)

COSMIC SHADOWMAGE:

Specter recently learned from the relics of a desolated ancient civilization, known as the Neviim, that in the distant forgotten past an incredible power was discovered by elite Neviim magi. According to the records left behind, the Neviim were a race of unusual magical prowess and many of their kind naturally possessed powers that the most skilled mages would have difficulty mastering. However, their planet possessed an innate resistancy against destructive magics, effectively limiting its use throughout the whole society. There were some, though... a secret sect of power-hungry loremasters who yearned for power enough to conqueror the distant stars. There society was so at peace and so sustained by natural magic that technology barely existed in the faintest, so space travel was still a thing far out of reach. But not to the loremasters, who knew the secrets of their people's history: they had once been a mighty race who had wielded primitive magic in wars and built an empire on the moons orbiting their planet. The loremasters yearned for such an age... such an era where the stars themselves would not be out of reach. And unlike their forerunners, who had conquered the moons with technologies long lost,... they would arise and conquer all, with magic powers beyond compare. And, if the legends tell truly,... they succeeded. They forged a magic transformation that made them strong enough to neutralize the effects of their planet, their bodies morphing into living forms of flame-like magic energy. They had achieved the impossible... bodily unity with the elements. They called themselves Cosmic Mages...

Specter has yet to achieve this form, although he has been training and trying ever since the end of the 2002-2003 UMAT (Unrivaled Martial Arts Tournament).

POWER-UP TECHNIQUES:
Tempest's Fury: This fearsome technique summons a massive dark storm overhead, sometimes so large that it can cover an entire planet. When within the storm clouds, Specter's energy/aura/psyche is effectively masked (hidden against detection) AND he can "channel" his first four listed magic attacks through the storm, allowing them to strike from any direction almost without warning. However, the energy of Specter's Anti-Matter attack is too powerful to be channeled by the storm clouds and, if used, Anti-Matter instantly destroys the storm and neutralizes its effects. The storm's presence also gives Specter an additional slight defense boost, but the protection is insignificant in comparison to the storm's tactical value...

HISTORY:

Specter's past is a dark, gothic mess. Result of an experiment in quantum cloning (using time-space signatures to create duplicates of people or objects), Specter is a combination of Shadow the Hedgehog and Magus the shadowmage (from the SNES game Chrono Trigger). Raised and trained by Shadow after the military ransacked the lab he was birthed in, Specter gradually became a capable fighter. His first contact with energy from a Chaos Emerald sparked his sleeping potential to life, giving him the ability to fly under his own power and summon elemental magic energy for his custom attack techniques. Specter's search for the origins of his life eventually led him to other universes, where he was trained to be a skillful combatant by some of the multiverse's best fighters. Roaming across many universes, Specter now endlessly searches for the meaning of his existence and the purpose of his powers. He possesses nearly all the abilities that Sonic and Shadow have, and his mind is highly tactical and intelligent. He shuns fear, and refers to himself as The Tempest Given Mortal Form, both because of the chaotic origin and events of his life, and because the experiment that gave birth to him was known as Project: Tempest.

I do not remember my first moments with any depth of clarity. My world was a transparent capsule slightly larger than my body and filled with biological stabilizing liquid, and the green-tinted dark room beyond it. I knew nothing of who I was, how I had come to be, or of the events that had proceeded my beginning. From time to time I saw a human, a scientist and old man by appearance with gray hair and beard and mustache, enter the dark room. He would look at me from time to time, but mostly spent his time accessing the room’s computers. I knew nothing of speech; the man never spoke whenever I did see him, and I had no reason or understanding to speak, assuming I even could. My mind, my dreams, my thoughts were a tempest of confusion within me, but all I could do was float amid my liquid sustenance in silence. I was too weak to have broken free, and too ignorant to fathom how. I was utterly alone...
I was later to learn the truth. The man was a scientist indeed, named Issac Torrasu, who had been a friend of another scientist named Gerald Robotnick during the former’s lifetime. I was the result of one of Issac Torrasu’s many experiments aimed at helping him avenge Gerald Robotnick’s unmerciful death. I had been created through a process called quantum cloning, which involved the duplication of the timeline signature of another individual or object. That individual was Shadow the Hedgehog, whom I would learn of later. But something had gone wrong in the quantum cloning process that made me: an unknown Other timeline signature became mingled with Shadow’s for reasons unknown to me, and thus I was not an identical copy of Shadow, as Issac Torrasu had sought to create. I was something else, a midpoint fusion of two individuals. I was unique...
And so, Issac Torrasu was studying me, trying to understand what had happened. But he would not get far. The military found him and killed him; they had been tracking the four Chaos Emeralds which powered the machine that created me. They took the Emeralds, and myself, but before they could destroy Issac Torrasu’s lab something attacked them and killed many of them. I had no knowledge of what it was that killed them; by then my transparent capsule and myself had been loaded aboard an air vehicle, and I was beginning to feel the effects of stasis drugs that Issac Torrasu had made. But I could hear them: the screams from just outside the air vehicle could be heard clearly despite the roaring of the vehicle’s engines. I shall never forget...
I do not know how long I was in stasis at the military base, but when I at last awakened I met Shadow. I knew it was him because I had often heard his voice in my scattered memories, and had a vague idea before the encounter what he looked like. He released me from the capsule that had held me so long. He tried to ask me questions, but I did not know how to answer him... even though, as he spoke, my mind began to understand speech. Military reinforcements came, and Shadow was forced to use Chaos Control to get us to safety. Once we were far away from the military base and hidden within the forest, Shadow explained that he’d heard of a ‘second ultimate lifeform’ that had been captured by the military, namely myself, and he’d come out of seclusion to investigate. “So,” he asked. “What exactly are you?” “... I... do not... know...” “Were you also created by Prof. Gerald Robotnick?” I could only repeat myself. “Well... you do look a bit like me. Do you have a name?” I had never before suspected that I had a name. Shadow was the first person I’d met who’d talked to me, and the first person I’d met who had a name, as far as I knew. “Well, I have to be able to call you something . I guess I’ll have to give you a name. Hmm... let’s see...” I was pale shades of purple and tan with faint blue streaks on my quills. “ You sorta look like a ghost of me, almost. Well,... I can’t just call you ‘ghost’ so... how about . . . ‘Specter’?” And that became my name. At long last... I had an identity...
For a time, Shadow took care of me, likely having pity on me because I was so much like himself. My pale-purple slowly became dark, like the sky at twilight, and my streaks of pale blue a strong azure. When I could walk on my own and had learned enough about language to tell Shadow what little I knew of my origins, he began to explain to me about himself and his life. I listened and learned intently, incredibly anxious to gain information about myself and all that existed in this vast world which I would live in. As Shadow and I learned more about each other, it became clear that we’d been created by two different people, but we were strikingly similar in design. I had to know why...
I told Shadow about the Thing (I knew it as nothing else) that had destroyed and killed the military who had raided the lab of my origin, and then I forced Shadow to teach me how to fight. As I grew stronger, I focused on my goal: to return to the place of my birth and learn the truth. By this time I had begun to develop both mentally and physically at an even more accelerated rate than I had been after Shadow first released me. My skills and intellect became more powerful and focused as Shadow’s training pushed back my limitations. I was not as strong as him, of course; I had no special abilities, like Chaos Control, nor could I match Shadow’s speed and strength. But I continued against all odds and struggled forwards to understand myself. I had to become strong...
The day came when I left, on my own and without any warning to Shadow, and traveled to Prometheus Island, the location of the lab. This was something I had to do alone, and both Shadow and I knew that, which is why Shadow didn’t come looking for me. It took me a long time, almost a year, but I eventually located and made the voyage to Prometheus Island. Only minutes after my makeshift raft touched the shore, I came face to face with the Thing. It was a semi-humanoid robotic scorpion, easily larger than a human, its hands bearing fingers that shot plasma bullets and its tail armed with an energy laser. This had been what had routed the military so long ago, and likely what kept them from returning. I fought it as best I could, but sustained several injuries and near-lethal brushes with the claws and laser before I located its weakness: by hitting it's legs with a spin attack it could be flipped over onto its back, allowing access to the vulnerable spot at the back of the neck. Nonetheless, it was a skirmish I only barely survived. I learned how to destroy...
The lab’s primary computer interface, though suffering the effects of age and damages, revealed to me information about Issac Torrasu, the Chaos and Master Emeralds, the strange events of my birth,... and my powers . Professor Issac Torrasu’s brief research on me from before his death theorized that I possessed a substantial ‘Chaos factor’, even more-so than Shadow, and that if I were to once come in contact with Chaos energy it could awaken hidden powers and abilities in me, these powers originating in mixed proportion from Shadow’s abilities and those of the ‘unknown other’ from whose timeline signature I was forged. I searched the lab’s main computer access for more information, but much of the system was hopelessly encrypted and also partially damaged. However, through using the computer’s self-diagnosis program, I was able to learn that a small amount of Chaos energy was still stored in the reactor core of the Prometheus Gate,... the device that had created me, powered by the Chaos Emeralds,... it was Professor Issac Torrasu’s one remaining legacy, other than myself. I activated the reactor, and set the computer to send the split-second surge of Chaos energy that remained coursing through the Gate, and into my body. I became powerful...
I continued to research the Prometheus Gate, and learned by decrypting small segments of the remaining computer data that the Gate had an alternate function to act as a time portal. My powers, just as I’d believed, began to develop, and so did my scattered memories transferred from my two originators. I began to add to my appearance based on my limited understanding of the ‘unknown other’: brown leather gloves and boots, a short but finely bladed scythe with a lone silver-metal spike on both ends of the staff-piece, and a long, dark-crimson cape wrapped loosely around my neck. My desire to understand my origin drove me to transform myself into the ‘unknown other’, and to study the Prometheus Gate with full expectation that, since it created me in the first place, it could be made to wield the answers I sought. And the further I went in my plan the more I began to fall deeper into my transferred memories. My mind stored a clear perception of my own life experiences, but was infused also with the broken, confused, incongruous memories of two others. And as more of those memories slowly surfaced in minuscule fragments, my desire, my need to understand blossomed and glowed outwards like a solar flare, consuming my thoughts with drive and purpose. I was a living storm, a stationary cyclone,... and eventually I came across the one word that truly described me. Stored within the lab’s computer core was an ever-important file of research and vital information. It was labeled as Project Tempest; the attempt to retrieve Gerald Robotnick’s most valuable creation, an ‘ultimate lifeform’. A genetically-enhanced super being. Shadow. And I was the result of Project Tempest.
I was the tempest... given mortal form... And I knew what I had to do: find out the truth about my origins at any cost!!

SUMMONS:

-Sere: The Dream of Darkness-

For those who have played the SNES game Chrono Trigger, you'll have an easy time visualizing what Sere looks like. His appearance is very much the same as Masa and/or Mune, except his robe is dark gray and the ring-shaped collar is the color of liquid mercury. Also, his eyes are a pale shade of purple, much closer to the blue spectrum than to the red-pink spectrum of colors. Like Masa and Mune he is merely a sentience linked to a weapon, the Granserena scythe, and can manifest himself when summoned. His personality is somewhat mischievous as he occasionally speak in rhymes and riddles, although he will usually give Specter plain answers. Generally, though, his personality is rather like a spoiled adolescent; he frequently nags at Specter about things, acts overconfident, and loves to show off in front of people. When summoned into battle he will usually begin by teleporting from place to place, a trick he performs very well, giving him ample opportunity to dodge and frustrate an enemy while taunting them and making jokes. If that fails to work, or when Sere gets tired of toying with his "new friend", he'll usually teleport as far out of reach as possible and begin bombarding his target with shadow magic. If he somehow takes severe damage or is defeated in battle (dream entities like Sere cannot die, especially not from damage done to their physical incarnations) Sere's body will turn into dark blue energy and reform into the Granserena scythe. It takes Sere at least a full twenty-four hours to recover from critical damage, and he cannot be summoned again until he is at least halfway recovered.

>>ABILITIES:

[Teleportation: Sere has near-impossible skill with teleportation; he can dodge almost anything with it and has an equally impressive reaction time. No matter how fast you run towards him, no matter how quick your energy blast or special attack is, odds are that you don't stand an ice cube's chance in hell of hitting him. An attack would have to literally appear at its target to have a good chance of hitting him. He makes other peoples teleportation abilities look like a joke, no matter how fast they go. From his perspective, Instant Transmission takes too long. Seriously. And he's also been known to do wacky things with his teleportation powers, like teleport bizarre clothes onto unsuspecting people for his own amusement or teleport a half-dozen gallons of water onto Specter's opponent... with the water still in its plastic jugs. But when he gets ticked off he'll start doing scary things, such as teleporting away all the air around an enemy, resulting in several seconds of suffocation before the surrounding air comes crashing in to fill the void, or like teleporting a small glacier or a large hill a few feet above an enemy's head. However, he doesn't get angry often and also, strangely, refuses to take battle instructions from Specter in all but the most dire circumstances. So don't expect to see glaciers falling from the sky too often.]

[Winds of Calamity: Sere has the approximate physical strength of a large chipmunk, but he compensates for that little detail with his ability to control / create wind currents. For example, he'll throw a swirling mass of very compressed air at you instead of throwing a punch at you. The damage rate for this ability ranges between "just annoying" to "low-moderate collision damage", but Sere's twisted little mind can come up with all sorts of ways to turn the air you breathe into a frustrating nightmare, so beware. And if he whips together a hurricane-level windstorm, expect ungrounded vehicles and miscellaneous debris to be coming your way.]

[Shadow Siege: When he uses it, Sere doesn't really bother to focus his shadow magic, and thus it has earned the nickname of "The Shadow Siege". Simply put, Sere points at his target with both his open palms and an orb of dark-blue and dark-purple shadow energy quickly surrounds him; from there, the orb will begin erupting with black fireballs that fly like unguided missiles. However, Sere has a real problem aiming this attack, so the fireballs tend to go off course in any number of random directions, sometimes seriously off course. This is one more reason why Specter doesn't use Sere much while fighting in tournaments.]

-Shizukesa: The Eternal Dragon of Serenity and Guardian of All Time-

According to what Kurina Kurai told Specter about the history of the Triskellion blades and the dragons linked to them, the Triskellion blades were originally used by warrior angels to put down the rebellion in heaven and cast out those who had chosen to follow the Dark One, Armodos. The powers sealed away within each blade reflect the essential elements of genesis and existence, and are linked inseparably with the guardians and upholders of those elements. Specter did not find the Triskellion Kagirinai; rather, it found him. The story is a long and complicated one, but the short version is that Shizukesa had been waiting until Specter was ready to receive the sword. Shizukesa herself (she referrs to herself as a female) does not exist in any physical realm; rather, her being resides within the very energy and flow of time itself. She and Specter first met when his soul was temporarily loosed from his body, rescued by her from the brink of death and oblivion, and brought to "her realm" within the timestream (actually nothing more than an imagry-interpertation that his mind could comprehend, a "picture" if you will of what it was like within the timestream). Since then she has lead him on a number of unusual quests to unlikely places, some of which he still has yet to discern the relevance of.

The secret truth behind Shizukesa's unusual actions related to Specter is this: that she is his mother. Of course, not in the ordinary sense, but she is responsible for his existence. The "accident" which fused the quantum essences together that made Specter was her doing. Surprised?

>>ABILITIES:

[Physical Incarnation: Shizukesa, when summoned by the Triskellion Kagirinai, will take on one of two a temporary physical bodies: her dragon form or her hedgehog form. Her dragon form is the more impressive and battle-worthy of the two, although that isn't saying much. The dragon form can vary greatly in size dependent on need, but always has the same physical characteristics: long, slender serpentine body with beautiful mirror-surfaced scales so small they look like a reflective silver fabric, piercing yet calm eyes entirely a glowing white, no discernable mouth (Shizukesa usually speaks using a kind of telepathy that transfers meaning rather than words, but when she does speak it usually sounds like an endless multitude of voices speaking in unison. However, occasionally when she speaks to Specter, a single voice will replace the multitude: a gentle, almost motherly female alto), and a pair of majestic large wings of bright blue fire. The hedgehog form is that of an azure-blue quilled female hedgehog clad in a simple pale-purple robe not too different from what Schala from Chrono Trigger wears, with a quill pattern similar to Specter's but with a silver streak instead of blue running the course of each quill. Her eyes are a pale blue shade, but become glowing-white like those of her dragon form when preparing for battle. She can also add the wings from her dragon form onto her hedgehog form. In either form, Shizukesa's time in the physical world is limited. If she stays too long or sustains too much damage, she risks the destruction of time itself. Due to her intimate innate connection with the timestreams of all universes, Shizukesa cannot remain "within time" for more than half an hour (energy expended in battle shortens that time significantly) without threatening the stability of the timestream. Additionally, if she were to be wounded or killed while fighting, time could tear itself apart at the seams. This, as well as the relative frailty of both of her forms (Shizukesa was not created to do battle, and thereby has the most weakness and vulnerability of all the Triskellion summons) has decided Specter strongly against summoning her for combat; however, Shizukesa will sometimes "summon herself" to protect Specter or to address a serious threat to history's well being. Specter always worries when she does so, because even weaker attacks could damage her significantly if she isn't careful.]

[Duplication: Unlike Specter's Mirror Image technique, Shizukesa's Duplication ability creates identical copies of herself that can do very real damage to an opponent. However, the duplicates are merely physical copies of the real Shizukesa, and will simply cease to exist if they take too much damage. Also, damaging the real Shizukesa will instantly cause all the duplicates to cease to exist. The maximum number of duplicates that can exist at one time is 12.]

[Time Freeze: Time Freeze allows Shizukesa to temporarily stop the time-flow around a person, object, or area. However, this technique's usefulness is limited because while it's in effect she can use none of her other special powers. Also, the Time Freeze doesn't freeze the "time" she has remaining in her physical incarnation, and her own physical weakness makes it very unlikely that she will be able to deliver critical damage to an enemy before time reverts back to normal. In effect, usually Time Freeze acts as nothing more than an alternative to teleportation.]

[Power Drain: One of Shizukesa's only real attacks is to drain energy from an enemy. A bright burst of light emits from her eyes, and a small cluster of glowing energy sparkles emerge from the target's body and fly through the air towards Shizukesa, who then absorbs the energy into her body. Doing this replenishes not only her physical body but also can add anywhere from seconds to minutes onto her time in the physical world, depending on how effective the Power Drain was.]

[Quantum Death: An attack that Shizukesa possesses yet has been forbidden to use except to protect the existence of the timestream itself. That is because Quantum Death is the ultimate single-target destructive power in existence. Upon its use, the unfortunate victim has no time to feel pain or agony because the essential quantum energy that establishes physical matter within time disappears from their body, reducing their existence as a physical being to exactly nothing. No bright shiny blast of energy or flash of magic power; once Shizukesa has passed judgement and decided there is no other way (and she, being able to see past, present, and some degree of future, would know), . . . poof, no more you. Have a nice afterlife.]
