Hello to everyone, nice to see the forums are up.

Im eager to find out when the next release is coming, any info on that?
Im also intrested on what programming language are being used to develop such a wonderful game?
Is there going to be any source releases soon, and is FOM going to be easily modded?
And ofcourse, if any beta-testing of any sort is needed, i would like to volunteer smile.gif

Welcome to the forums!

The next release is taking a while because it is almost a complete overhaul of the original engine. Since the last release the game has gone from a mere concept to a solid game. So with that in mind I am very excited to release it, but at the same time need to make sure it is ready, which it is not yet. I am estimating it will take about 50 more hours of work before it is ready for it's first beta test. Now that does not mean it will be ready in a few days, because I only get to work on the game a couple hours a day on average, and it is just me working on it. I don't have much time to work on it because I have university to worry about and worst of all working to pay for university.
But enough angst and on with the questions.

The original plan was to program Fall or Mars in C++, in fact I first started programming it in C++. However with the time constraints and all, the project faded away. I eventually wanted to start it up again, but not wanting to spend all my time working on the graphical engine and what not I decided it would be easier to use a language with a coding environment that had a built in graphical engine and built in commands. So I chose GML, which shares many similarities to C++, but is more accessible (which can be a good thing and a bad thing).

As for the source code, I haven't thought about releasing it. It is definitely a possibility, but not high on my list of priorities. Community modding I have thought about, and it will slowly become easier and easier with each release. With that said however, there will not be any external files to edit in the first beta releases, again, priorities.

If I ever feel the need to release a pre-beta for testers to make sure everything works for everyone, I will definitely be looking at active community members to invite.

Thank you for your kind answers. I know its too early (way too early) to ask about the source and such ,but im a very impatient person smile.gif

So you are doing this all by yourself? Thats...oh well, its too bad i suck at programming, otherwise i would offer my assistance(im only good in hex-editing). Maybe i should start learning now then.

Good to hear that the next release is on the way. Take your time, there is no rush biggrin.gif

It's too bad that many gamers out there have never played any Doom games before Doom3 or the original Diablo...

This game would have absolutely killed back in the late 90's

(Not to mention that it would have gotten you some heated letters from ID and Blizzard laugh.gif )
