Intmain, I really advise to spend the few minutes / hours to license your work for others to continue. You've attracted a loyal following, so nobody can ever rip you off (compile their version without crediting you) without the angry mob getting their head cut off smile.gif
I am completely unrelated to SwissCheeseMaker, and not a die-hard fan of the game, I only played it for a few hours. I'm speaking because I've seen many one-man-made games die because they were closed source. My favorite Doom editor died because the programmer was too proud to let others see/use his code, and he sincerly thought he could proceed alone. My favorite painting program was saved because the authors made a public copy of the sources (and a clear statement for the license), that ended 6 years later in the right hands to revive the project.
The persons who are sincerely proposing to help and continue will not ALL go past the difficulties and succeed to make the game significantly bigger/better, it's certain. But while the interest is high, and the technology is current, the chances are high.

I've been using Game Maker for 3 years now, and I'd love to help continue this project, but I believe there is no hope. The developer (int_main()) announced this project to be discontinued months ago, and has never been on the forums since sleep.gif

I'd really like to see this finished, it's such a great engine, with very few flaws. I hope intmain comes back and reads this at some point sleep.gif

well, given that FoM is such a low resolution and the fonts are almost unreadable, i may have to start from scratch with a higher resolution. i really just wanted intmain's permission to continue FoM in my own way. if not, i suppose i can call it something else, but i'll honor intmain by putting him in the credits and maybe in-game too

OK. I'll do it.
I didn't want to release the source months ago because I was confident I was going to have the time to come back to it. But I don't have the time to do it myself.
I still want to work on it however.
So what I am proposing is starting a team. I need to be confident in the people I'll be working with however, so I'm going to make a thread later today or tomorrow for people to post their portfolios (It doesn't have to be anything spectacular, but enough to give me an idea of what you can contribute to this project).
I think we should start from scratch however, because FoM started was an experiment for me, my first RPG engine, and their are many things I would like to do differently: higher resolution, dynamic tilesets, etc.
I'll post more later, but I am in class right now (Game Design class) and I work afterwords. I here by officially announce the resurrection of DOOM: Fall of Mars.
