Ok I decided to open this topic to maintain all my WIP works in one, I expect that peteliuz will do same soon as he feels comfortable with it.

To start this topic here is WIP picture of finnish soldier armed with M/27 Infantry rifle and wearing german M/18 helmet with finnish green camo paint.

It would be comfortable for me now, no problem. Feedback is needed during the process - not only afterwards. Here's some of my piece of cake about texturizing T-26 snow camo ("leader-version" with radio, see: antennas):

Looks veeeery promising, guys! There is a great need of WW2 addons for Arma mission makers and when we get Finnish stuff to the game - even better!

One suggestion: Finnish army had propably some 12 different types of helmets in wartime use. It would be historically more adequate to use a much wider selection of helmets than the most often seen german type.

We will make few variations on helmet, however helmets that were used in winter war are almost similiar with few rivettes and chinstrap.

In winter war there was only:
M/16 German Helmet
M/17 German Helmet
M/18 German Helmet
M/16 Austro-Hungarian Helmet

Other didn't come before Continuation war, so there is unfortunantly very little variation on them in first release.

Hi guys!

I just wanted to say that great work with those soldier-models! Especially they look great with T-26 wink.gif Keep up the good work.

I will follow up your modding-process.

P.S. Btw, Arma 2 looks and "feels" great (regarding news-articles etc). I hope that there will be something new in Arma 2 - not just updated version of Arma 1. Hopefully it is going to be great game. I am open to OFP2 too even if it's developed by Codemasters. At least the articles about OFP2 has been promising (realistic features, not arcadish and so on).

Good to see you too! smile.gif It's refreshing to have few words here sometimes because we have been working together.

That is one of the best screenshot that I have seen about FWW2 mod's T-26. It's looking very nice with the green "stains", shadows etc. It definitely needs the green stains! But maybe those stains could look a little bit sharper here and there to create different kind of varying volume for the tank painter's brush strokes ("siveltimenvedot"). Or is that blurred effect on stains a videocard / graphics settings related issue?

Btw, how's the other deveploment-segments of the mod going on?

I wanted to make it look bit more like tainted and add some "brush strokes" in it to break clean pattern. It looks bit more like hasty work rather than shop-painted. Unfortunantly in some distance those effects become little bit blurry looking, but that might be just my low end computer that makes it.

Here is picture taken from Buldozer without shadows, should give bit better idea of overall tank.

Otherwise we're getting stuff done in pretty good rate, I am at least, lately people has had some engagements in real lide to deal with that has slowed us down a bit. However I hope to post some new Soviet infantry pictures shortly, perhaps I manage to accompany them with more T-26 and new finnish troops wink.gif

No nyt nuo siveltimenveto-tekstuurit pääsivät oikeuksiinsa Bulldozerissa. It looks nice. Looking forward to see more screenshots about FWW2 mod in the future.

See you!

Those who still lurk here in hopes of updates, I think I can satisfy your curiousity. Small update with WIP proxies as place holders, just to get places right.

Here you have bit bigger update on stuff that you have not seen yet. There is still more to show, but it will have to wait a while wink.gif
Don't mind skin color of those two soviet soldiers, they're still using Blufor faces. I will change this, but for now I have more important things to get done.

Since 69th anniversary of beginning of Winter war draws closer we felt that it was time to show something again for community and our faithful fans. There is still quite a lot of stuff that I don't show because its not quite ready for it and I don't have that much time take screenshots, but expect more pictures all the way until 30th wink.gif

This time we have two new ingame screenshots, both has some faked parts, just remember that they're promotional screenshots, not all is real what you see.

First few in-game screenshots; Soviet troops advancing with pretty careless attidute in Finnish territory (in beginning some Soviets units even marched on road in marching formation) and in second Finnish soldier takes care of T-26 m.31 which has come too far from its main force.
user posted imageuser posted image

First promo picture has some grenades, AT-weapons and magazines, just because it looks nice tongue.gif Second one is T-26 model 1931 in promo frames. This tank will represent the oldest what Soviets has to offer on light tanks in this mod. However don't be fooled by its funny look, it is extremely leathal to infantry thanks to twin turret that can cover both sides same time.
user posted imageuser posted image

Lastly little bit older progress screenshot in Buldozer:

Enjoy!

Sorry that this is day late and there is less pictures than I had hope for, but RL demanded more attention and left less time for this. Still here is three new pictures for your joy, hope you like them.

First promo shot of OT-130 flamethrower tank, it comes also in winter camo colors. Its most common of dozens flamethrower tank variations that Soviet had during Winter war.
user posted image

Finnish soldiers that were delaying Soviet advance are forced to retreat after taking heavy casualties. In first days of war fighting was desperate and many suffered from "tank shock", since most had not even seen tanks before.
user posted image

First days of war Finnish troops ambushed and used hit-and-run tactics against advancing enemy in hope to stall Soviet war machine so there would be more time to setup defences in main defence line (later known Mannerheim-line). Finnish patrol has destroyed enemy scouts and are scavenging for weapons and equipment.

Thanks. Its from SLX mod which you can find pretty much from everywhere, you can also use parts of it as seperate components (with only issues being few error boxes in-game when hit first time) so you just need SLX Wounds to able to use that animation.

Absolutely beautiful work guys! Especially T-26 (summer camo) looks great with different kind of details in the surface. Also grenades, molotovs etc. looks pro because of professional "hand-painted" textures.

You have catched the look and feel of Winter war, slowly but firmly.

It certainly gives nice look on them, but unfortunantly it takes quite a lot work to get them done.

Thanks, its our main goal. We still have place for you if you find time somewhen to come back. BTW have you already managed to get your computer updated?

That's true, but I meant the final small extra details made by you smile.gif There's something new on the surface.

Yes, it took a lot of time too when I was working on with T-26. Unfortunately I don't have time, interest and strenght to participate at the moment, but I will follow up the modding process.

By the way, our second child is going to born until 2 months! happy0064.gif

My desktop PC is in the closet and I am using our new laptop at the moment. I tested to install and play Arma demo with the laptop, but the graphics-card doesn't have good enough features to run the Arma demo. No, enpä menettänyt paljoa, koska Arma demo on aika kökkö muutenkin.

I wish you all a Bright New Year 2009!

That's true, but I meant the final small extra details made by you smile.gif There's something new on the surface.

I added 4 additional detail layers on base-texture and one additional detail layer in normals texture, also did proper enhancing on bolts and hatches etc. It certainly gives quite advanced look on original texture layer that I gave you when you started working on it.

Good for you and good luck with it (you will need it), especially when she/he turns 2 (I assume your first born isn't that much older than that), with two kids it turns quite messy very quickly.

My second child turned 2 bit over 2 months ago tongue.gif

Again small update, unfortunantly nothing really new to show. I have been lately working a lot on wounds, soldiers and their equipments LODs, made small fixes on textures and made couple new soldiers for finnish side.

Small update on finnish soldier wounds. They're much more restrained than original ArmA wounds, which I personally always found quite over done. So just few holes here and there, most of soldiers were armed with regular rifles anyway so should fit quite well.

Small weapon update:
PPD-34 and PPD-34/38 (early version). These weapons were rather rare as soviet officers didn't think that there was any real significance on military use. However when Soviets faced M/31 Suomi SMG during Winter war they were quick to change their minds and shipped PPDs to front.
