This seems to be going well in The Arena for games, why not try implementing it here? You know the drill: put anything you want to say about audio/visual stuff here that isn't large/new enough to warrant its own thread.
Thought to make this thread to ask if anyone else feels the best thing about Ice Age has been the trailers with Scrat. They always hark back well to the old Looney Tunes cartoons as a decent modern-day equivalent. |

I remember the first one, and chunks of the second one. Don't think I've ever been to the cinema to watch them, but from what I recall, they're not as bad as

Never bothered with Madagascar. No idea why, and no plans to check now.

Oh hey, a catch-all thread. Nice.
Never really watched any of the Ice Age or Madagascar movies. I just never got around to them. In TV news, I love FX so much for their scheduling right now. In two weeks the second season of 'Archer' is starting and two weeks after that, season 2 of 'Justified' is kicking off. Hopefully, those two will work together to make the wait for the next season of 'Breaking Bad' feel shorter (sorry, FX, you're just keeping me until AMC takes me back)... Well damn, I actually liked the Ice Age and Madagascar movies. In fact, I think a lot of Dreamworks stuff is underrated, even if they aren't as emotionally deep as Pixar's stuff. btw, whatever happened to the old notion of Disney being a bunch of evil greedy nazis?

I liked the first and last Ice Age, the second one sucked. As far as Madagascar the first one was alright the lemurs were pretty funny. And in regard to Disney everyone still feels that way as far as I can tell it's just been so established that there's no need to talk about it. And in TV I can't wait till the new season of Sons of Anarchy and when the latest season of the UK Top Gear hits the US.

I'm really tempted to watch just the first episode of US Top Gear, so I can gauge the apparent badness for myself.

Replace Richard with a small man with an annoying pension for drifting, James with a fat redneck who calls Aston Martins hot rods, and Jeremy with a stand up comic from New York. So far they've mostly done old Top Gear challenges with an american twist, for instance change the old BL challenge to one with GM.

Heh, just read a review describing it: "You know how Disney takes one of its stars and has them do a perfectly acceptable but utterly soulless version of a pop song. That's American Top Gear."

That's probably the best way to describe it. No doubt it will hold true for the US versions of Torchwood and Being Human.

Except US Torchwood isnt just something they just sent off to the US. Torchwood is filmed and written by the same people who did Torchwood, just set in America and broadcast by an american network in conjunction with BBC.

Yea I'm hoping that the reason why it's been but on the back burner is to get good actors and really get it the quality it should be, but seeing as it's Fox it's more likely they just want more money.

Uh, I think you're working with outdated information. Torchwood will be on Starz and BBC Worldwide.
And they already have a cast list and such already, along witn the title Torchwood: Miracle Day. |

Thanks for the info man, glad it's on a higher tier network so they can have the production value and do the things they need to do to make the series what it should be. And the story looks pretty interesting too, as long as they don't beat the apocalypse drum to death.

While that was probably the biggest issue Fox is still run by a crack team of accountants.

A much yuogner bane and the introduction of catwoman. It'll be very interesting how he ties them two together.

Source on Bane? Not that I'd be surprised.
Actually, I think Nolan would be the type to do Bane right- all the wrong versions have gotten too caught up in the super-steroids aspect of the character, but Nolan seems to be avoiding the more sci-fi aspects of the Bat-mythos and sticking to grounded villains, which is the best version of Bane. |
