*Sniff* It's... it's so beautiful... Confirmation...

Memories of Oblivion wash over me here, for real. I need to dry my eyes, I really do...

I feel I'm one of the few people who couldn't get into the Elder scroll series despite trying it several times. Maybe it was just the way Bethesda made their games, as i couldn't get into Fallout 3 either.

Still, will wait and see what they ahve in store for us

Admittedly, Oblivion put me off --- I never got past the early section where you've just managed to get Septim's heir to the monastery. The story and world failed to pull be in beyond that point.

But I do remember enjoying (though also not finishing) Daggerfall. And playing some of Redguard. So...I'll wait and see.

Admittadly, I only checked out Oblivion because I heard Patrick Stewart was in it, then you find he dies in the first act.

As you can see from my Avatar, I'm a bit of a fan of the Elder Scrolls and their mythos.
Can't wait for Skyrim (Which I called) and to see what new stuff there is.
Personally, I want more Daedric stuff and maybe the Werewolves/Werebears to return

that outlined pretty much everything that was bad about it, which is a pretty bad badness
it's perfectly correct, non-combat classes be getting raeped, i recall being a theify person and stealing lotsa shit, then trying to progress with the story only to get clompletly dominated by the first thing i ever found in an oblivion gate, not to mention being thrown out into a world with hardly any direction of what to do

:(

I was really hoping for Blackmarsh, not Skyrim... But, considering the important battles and events that took place on skyrim's border in Oblivion, I'm really not that surprised.

So when is TES gonna' go the way of Fable, and give us some guns, dammit?

so it won't just look like another Oblivion mod like Fallout 3 did.

I could go on a long-winded rant about that, but I won't. Needless to say, no, Fallout 3 doesn't, stop repeating it because I'm fucking sick of hearing it from every "oblivion wiv guns lol" moron I have the misfortune to run across.

Whoops; not my actual opinion. I was going to use an exclamation mark to lighten it, then decided against it since it sounded too chirpy. I think quotes between won't and did would have been more suitable to voice the sarcasm.

Ugh, I really couldn't get into Oblivion. I never got much farther beyond putting the heir in the fortress before I completely lost interest. Everything about it seemed designed specifically to throw me out of the game-world; the plot, the animation, the facial expressions, the voice-acting, the way people kept bumping into walls, all of it just threw me out of the game completely. Plus I couldn't get my head around the levelling system, and the fact that enemies scale levels with you (something I really detest about modern RPGs as it throws out all sense of progress).

So yeah, I really can't see myself entering this series again.

Skyrim will have a brand new engine, so it won't just look like another Oblivion mod like Fallout 3 did.

Thank God. I hate how the spells worked in Oblivion. It was the reason why I never made a mage of sorts.

Um...I happen to LIKE the game, and I've fiddled about a fair bit with modding FO3.

And yes, it IS what amounts to an extremely modded Oblivion. The GECK modding kit from Bethesda is itself a mod of the TES kit, to include sections for magic. Because of this, a lot of the concepts and work from the Oblivion modding community was ported directly over (such as Martigen's Monster Mod).

It's not so simplistic as to merely be "Oblivion with guns", but I've long been calling it "the best Oblivion mod of all time".

So TF2 is a mod of Half Life 2?

And Batman Arkham Asylum is a mod of Gears of War?

I thoroughly enjoyed Oblivion, I can see why some don't though it had a very traditional style of RPG a style near extinction now. Something tells me if you didn't like Oblivion you wont like Skyrim seeing how many die hard fans the series has, and how beloved Oblivion is on a whole.

Yeah, that.

It IS an amazing Oblivion mod. Simple as that. It adds armor, guns, and VATS. Takes away some armor slots, but I figured out how that worked 'cause I've more than tinkered with Oblivion's editing kit.

Which is like saying TF2, L4D and Portal are "extremely modded Half-Life 2".
